We have been anxious for a few months, since we recommended this place to our friends visiting from Europe. Based on the location we knew it would be the right place, visiting our friends we parked on 2ND street structure and literally walked anywhere in Santa Monica from the hotel! I guess because we picked up our friends from there...

Stepho92, I'm happy you were able to enjoy the convenience of being so close to the 3rd Street Promenade. That is one of the many highlights of our hotel which guests so often rhapsodize about. Whether it be bellman, dining, guest services, or upper management, we all take great pride in making our guests the number one priority. We see...

A great hotel with ocean views. Large, clean & very cool 2 bedroom suites with full kitchen & also room service. Good location and a short walk to the pier, shopping and restaurants. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Definitely worth staying at.

Rebecca R, I'm delighted to hear you so thoroughly enjoyed your stay here at Shangri-La. The 24-hour room service is something we take great joy in providing to our guests. The Santa Monica Fishing Pier and the Third St Promenade are always guest favorites. Rebecca, I'd like you to know that as much as you enjoyed staying here, it pales...

We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel. When we first arrived we were shocked by how old/rundown the place is and requested for a refund/cancellation as we felt like we were deceived by the name of the hotel when they are actually NOT even part of the shangri-la group. Yet our request was turned down by both hotel and...

I travel quite a bit for business and stay in many hotels - some good some bad. This hotel however could be the worst one I have ever stayed at. They can charge insane rates but the hotel isn't worth paying even a quarter of that. The rooms are old, they look old and they smell old. The washrooms look...

ToJared, I apologize that you were so disappointed in your stay with us. I can assure you that I will address the service issues promptly with my staff, however I am genuinely quite confused to hear such feedback as we are usually praised for our exemplary service. I am disheartened that you felt our rooms were old. Hotel Shangri-La of...

Review may change once trip is complete. Hotel in central location, however it looks like it's trying to be something that it is not. In my review, I try to take into account the price vs offering, as well as the types of other hotels in the vicinity with similar price point. We thought that by booking a room within...

Clean yes , nice situation but please stay at another hotel in Malibu instead of this touristic area and expensive property. Old bathroom, expensive breakfast and no concierge . A nice roof top bar though

Although we are frequent visitors to Santa Monica we had never stayed at the Hotel Shangri La. What a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. We arrived very late at night, having arranged a hotel car pick up on our arrival from New York. The first bonus was the upgrade provided, to a very good suite. We stayed a...

We stayed in the Shangri-La hotel in Santa Monica for two weeks in September 2016 and we had a fantastic time. The hotel staff are so helpful and the service here is beyond reproach. The hotel is an original art deco building and so has a preservation order on it. The owners have got around this in a very sympathetic...

Very character-filled hotel. Art decor. My room was large and had a splendid view of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Monica Pier. Centrally located - very near 3rd St Promenade. Gorgeous outdoor bar around the pool. The art decor theme is followed throughout. The staff were all very attentive, courteous and went out of their way to anticipate my needs....

This was hotel was number 5 on our Californian coast road trip. I picked it for the location and liked the idea of it having character. Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
