Good location, walking distance to everything - but so is every other place to stay in Solvang. 1. Price: While one of the cheapest options available in Solvang, the price wasn't cheap enough to warrant the quality of the room. 2. Room: Only 1/5 outlets worked in the room. Luckily the heater was positioned relatively close to the 1 working...

A lovely property at the West End of Solvang on the main street. This is a smaller, older motel and is well cared for and quiet. A nice option if you don't want to compete with the bus tour groups. Our room was very clean and had adequate amenities. The lady that checked me in was very nice and anxious...

This place was great to stay at. it was simple and basic but it was all you needed. the man who owns it was very kind and helpful and answered all the questions I had about the town, and suggested places for me to go and eat. plus you cannot find a better price in the whole town.

This is a very clean but basic hotel in a beautiful town. The rooms were clean and spacious. The manager was a really lovely man who had no objections to us sitting outside on the lawn having a few beers as it was my husbands birthday. Very obliging and helpful. The breakfast was a token to be taken to a...

Place was clean, but the place was tired. Frame of door to bathroom had dry rot, some power outlets didn't work, and there was some kind of smell when we entered room, perhaps from a cleaner or bug spray.. Breakfast was different, the motel gave us a card that could be exchanged at the bakery across the street for a...

My wife and I are from the UK and recently stayed for 4 nights at the Viking Motel. We have never completed a review before but felt that the high standard of care taken by Johnny and his family during our stay was first class. For most of our 2 week holiday to California we stayed in larger hotels and...

If you are heading to Solvang and needing an inexpensive place to stay, this is it for you. There are few other compliments I can give this motel other than it was surpisingly clean and very reasonably price. The room was not all that large and had no comfort sitting. The room service did not exist except for the weekends,...

We stayed here because I remembered a visit from long ago when I found the town to be very charming. It still is...in a way. Since we were only here for a short time I found this motel on line and decided to try it. It is clean, the bed was comfortable and it was quiet. The woman who met...

This is a small, older motel with dated decor. The rooms are of good size and everything worked well, but it's definitely a two-star motel and nothing more. This motel is right at the start of Solvang, coming from the 101. There are many motels closer to the Danish shops.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Viking Motel is part of the celebrated Danish culture in Solvang. It was originally built in 1920 by Danish immigrants and was called "The Little House." Over the years it has been a honeymoon cottage, a boutique and a doctor's office. The palm trees in front of the motel were planted in 1922. Today, the historic Viking Motel offers comfortable, affordable accommodations with a flavor of old world charm. Conveniently located, the Viking Motel is close to many of Santa Barbara County’s attractions including Solvang’s Scandinavian Shopping Village, the Hans Christian Anderson Museum, the Chumash Indian Casino Resort and some of the Santa Ynez Valley’s finest wineries. Hello, Viking staff and/or Tracy?

I believe you know my friend, Tami Emry, who has stayed there recently. She has just told me of the upcoming reservations on Monday

the 18th of Aug, staying through until Wed.or possibly Thurs.

I am very pleased about this! The timing is perfect! Life has been very challenging and difficult (divorce/separation last 6 months in a 25 yr marriage, facing back surgery; I am having to use a wheel chair because of pain. Okay, so, enough complaining! Ugh! ; - D,)

Tami also injured herself 2 weeks ago, broken/sprained ankle, fractured toes, toes, and all on her "GOOD " leg as she is disabled with the other leg!

She desperately needs a bath and some quiet, clean comfort in a regular bed with TV, ect. Just a little TLC for both of us for sure! This is just what the DR ordered.

I have a laptop and wondered about internet connection. It's not a huge priority, but just curious.

Also, will there be a microwave available by any chance? I want to bring coffee to make and just need hot water avail. And, for Tami, she needs a bath and I hope you have a room available with a bath? It's a must with her as she can not stand and shower at this time due to her disability and broken foot. I , too need a bath as my back is bad and I have constant, horrible pain when standing too long.

We are quite a pair! Money is tight, so we will bring snacks, drinks, water, and I wondered if the room also has a fridge? We both require ice packs, moist heat and elevation of our legs. I will bring extra pillows.

I thank you in advance if you are able to reply soon, tomorrow or Monday early morning. Thank you.

Thank you for your time and we look forward to seeing on Monday.
