The Knowles Hill B&B is a delightful stay. Stayed here passing through Sonora for an overnight stay. The mansion is posted on the top of a hill overlooking the town of Sonora. Being on top of the hill means a drive up a long single-lane road, making it too far and steep from historic downtown Sonora to walk. Nevertheless, the mansion is historic and classic Edwardian style from the 1920s and features many of the original handcraftsmanship in both the interiors and exteriors. From the initial greeting to checkout, service is always rendered with a smile and a friendly demeanor, and you feel like a welcomed guest. We arrived around 4pm, checked into our room, and settled in. The pictures on the Inn's web site were true to reality. The room had adequate facilities (bed, private bathroom, electrical outlets, WIFI, etc.), a TV with internet connectivity (Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. but no cable service), tables, etc. The bed was really tall, but fitted with a small stepstool to help one get aboard. We then spent about an hour on the patio looking out over the city and enjoyed a glass of wine (that we had brought ourselves). Geese were snacking on the nearby lawn and the patio had an assortment of cats, some quite friendly, belonging to the Inn. Breakfast was perfect with a delicious poached pear appetizer followed by an egg Florentine with sausage. Really couldn't be better. All in all, this is an excellent inn with quality facilities and staffing. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.…
Wow! Such wonderful people and the fanciest and most delicious breakfast I've ever had! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing unique stay in gold country. So much to see in the area as well.

Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a couple and or family friendly place. Super cute rooms and the old time atmosphere makes it perfect for a long weekend in gold country. It’s also the first time we’ve had a two course breakfast that they kindly enough also managed to make vegan. Very few places do. Kids also LOVED their breakfast (see pictures). Delicious!!
I recently visited Knowles Hill after laying my father to rest as a place for getting through some grief. Rhonda the Inn Keeper was so kind and nurturing as I was walking through it. The grounds were beautiful and a place with beautiful sunsets and sunrises. And the food!!! Be prepared for incredible breakfasts and coffee.
