Centrally located in historic downtown Sonora, and with exceptional views from the roof top swimming pool, the historic California hotel is the perfect place for travelers with an interest in the historic Gold Rush and Yosemite National Park. There are countless adventures to be found in nearby historic towns, year round recreation attractions. Unique shops, local theater, boutique, wineries and both fine & casual dining. The Sonora Inn is in a great location in central downtown Sonora and only about 15 minutes drive from Columbia State Historic Park (which is the reason for our visit). Parking was unnecessarily difficult because of a construction project going on at the time of our visit, but the fact that a breakfast was included was a huge bonus. Also, pets are welcome which is always a priority when we travel.

Room Tip: Request the second floor; it is supposedly haunted (room 226 in particular).

The Sonora Inn is very old so there should be no surprise when things look old, the plumbing drains very slowly (and makes odd noises) and the elevator is small and slow. But the charm of the place, the helpful staff and location (right on the town's main street) make up for it. We enjoyed the double room (having separate bathrooms was nice). The continental breakfast was basic but, again, par for the course on these things. Parking was fine on the weekend but I wonder what it would be like on a weekday when the adjacent bank is open and its parking lot being used for business.

The room was quite pretty. It’s an historic building; there’s a placed in the front. All the staff we interacted with were exceedingly helpful and pleasant. The continental breakfast selection was vast: waffles, cereal, bagels, English muffins, tea, coffee, OJ, cold hard boiled eggs. Parking was somewhat limited; we ended up in a bank parking lot across the street. Shower in mid-afternoon, if possible. The water temperature after 10:00 p.m. fluctuated quite a bit.

The hotel is very old. Plumbing drains were very slow. Check in process was surprisingly slow. Breakfast was ok. Staff was helpful. Sink in bathroom was in terrible condition. I am having trouble getting the require number of characters in this review!

I stayed at the Sonora Inn with a collogue this week and enjoyed the stay. They have a very nice continental breakfast with a waffle station, fruit, breads, juices and coffee. Everything was individually wrapped to help with sanitation. The staff was very attentive and was always there offering assistance. The hotel is in the heart of Downtown Sonora which is a cute little town with tons of charm. Rooms were a great representation of the period they were built in. My collogue had a huge suite and I was in a standard room right off of a patio where you could enjoy the evening. Had a great stay and we will return again.
