Serenity Island Resort is often celebrated for its friendly staff and beautiful beachfront location, providing guests with stunning views and a lively atmosphere, although the presence of music sometimes interrupts the tranquility. While the variety and quality of amenities receive commendations, there are occasional remarks about the need for improvements. The comfort and cleanliness of the rooms are frequently highlighted, yet some guests have encountered issues. Travelers appreciate the cultural touches, such as welcome songs, but warn of slow service in the restaurant and point out that additional costs can affect the overall value.

We looked at a wide range of Fiji island options, and decided Serenity was what we wanted. And we were right. It is at the lower priced end of the mid range island resorts (not a backpacker/party island, not exclusive adults only or international chain resort) and it is excellent value. As everyone has noted, it is beautiful and the staff are wonderful. Reviews from earlier this year noted very little sand was on the island after storms - that is no longer the case, just a few rocky patches outside the beachfront bures. Others noted a lack of snorkelling equipment, again this has been rectified. We had no issues with slow service at dinner time (and the meals were fabulous) - but lunch service was a bit average (but the food was still great.) It's Fiji time, chill and relax. Always make a reservation for dinner on the day as they seem to have fewer seats than there are guests. The Signature Fiji Massage at the spa was wonderful. The bed was super comfortable, the shower pressure low but ok. The bures are of a more than sufficient size, and how lovely (if you have a beachfront one) to wake up to palm trees, sand and waves every morning. The pool deck area could do with a paint, but the rest of the resort looked in excellent shape, and the staff do a great job in keeping the area clan and tidy, including collecting all the falling leaves and palm fronds. Over 90% of the guests were couples (or friends) so be aware this place isn't set up for children - perhaps choose a Kids Club resort elsewhere? That said, the snorkelling and pool kept most kids happy. Overall, the only disappointment was leaving - we would go back there in a heart beat and warmly recommend.

We stayed a week in a beachfront bure and had an amazing time. The snorkelling right outside our room was sensational. One of the best bits of Serenity Island is that regardless of which way the wind is blowing, there will be a side which will be calm and perfect for a swim and snorkel. Fortunately for almost the entire week the side our rooms faced was perfectly still and calm. You won't struggle to find a secluded part of the shoreline of the island to swim and relax at.

The beachfront bures have a king bed, fridge, desk, ceiling fan, aircon, nice chairs, own deck with a sun lounge, seat and table, hammock, and bathroom. There's a brand new large flatscreen TV, but no reception so if you want to watch anything bring all your own cables (HDMI I guess?). The netting on the windows was intact and nothing flew into our room unless we left the door open. The hotel are spraying almost daily to keep the flies and mosquitos away (didn't see a single mosquito the entire time, there are flies but weren't too bad.)

Probably the only area which was a little bit underwhelming was the food. The Saturday evening buffet was great, otherwise the inclusive menu was fine but does get a little repetitive for vegetarians after a week.

I was able to get the manager to organize a dive for me by contacting the Musket Cove dive shop, who came and picked me up the next day a did a couple of dives nearby. It's not an ideal place to base yourself if you want to dive, as they charge extra to come and pick you up, but for a couple of dives for a day it wasn't too bad (I paid just over $500FJD for complete service - all gear, pickup, and transfer).

A highlight is the absolutely lovely staff.

We spent 5 nights at enjoying this beautiful island resort but what made it so special were the staff. All of the staff were amazing and so helpful but especially Sami who organised all of our activities. Also John, Mary, Seva, Ulla and Captain Bon did a wonderful job. As we were the only guests for most of our stay we really felt like we were one of the family.
Positives:
Our Beach bure was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean (thanks Mary) with a hammock and sunlounge. It was lovely to hear the water and wake up to the sunrise.
The chef and his offsider did an amazing job creating tasty meals, we particularly enjoyed the fresh fish and crab.
Swimming and snorkelling is fabulous directly from the beach and you can still swim at low tide.
The service from the staff is exceptional, nothing is too much trouble.
Negatives:
The property still requires a lot of post covid maintenance especially around the pool area. It would be good to see the sail replaced to provide extra shade.
The beach areas at the back of the island need more regular cleaning to remove the rubbish that washes up.
Wi-fi was not available in our room.
Bar prices are very expensive – although they do have a daily happy hour from 2-4pm.
Continental breakfast was good but should include juice.
Cost to stay is excessive.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would love to return one day.

Dear Ms. Dawson, We are glad that you and your husband enjoyed your stay with us at Serenity Island Resort. Here at Serenity Island Resort, we always aim to provide excellent hospitality services to our valued guests. We are truly thankful for all the kind words and appreciation for all our efforts and services. The temporary closure of the resort due to the Pandemic and a series of bad weather has greatly affected our facilities, which few of our guests have witnessed during their stay. Rest assured that we have taken note of your feedback and we are doing our best to improve our facilities and services to make our guests more comfortable. In line with this, we have recently made some renovations and improvements to the property and will continue to do so in the coming days. We would love to have you and your husband back on the island soon and experience more of Serenity Island Resort. Best, Serenity Island Resort

The team couldn't be more helpful, caring and look after you. Going above and beyond doesn't even come close including Sammy trimming back (unprompted!) some trees above my deck because it was shading my afternoon sun, and Lucy saving a quiet table for me because she knew I liked to be out of the crowd.

As a solo, female traveller I felt very safe. This is a small island with warm people running it. Lots of couples, not many families so a relaxing and peaceful vibe. Things here run like clockwork, until they don't and then you're very much on Fiji time but all the team are trying really hard. You can see they've taken on negative reviews and worked well to improve eg. snorkel gear is new, food is well seasoned, shade cloth is provided by the pool for those who want it.

I had beach burre accommodation which was clean with great storage plus private deck, hammock and two loungers stepping right onto the beach and snorkelling. The burres are well spaced from each other, face sunrise and felt very private. The pool could do with a little more water in it but that's it. The views of the mainland are stunning. Food in the restaurant was solid. The included breakfast consists of continental, fruits (fresh and tinned), plus four bain maries plus an egg station of which you can have an much or little as you want. I was there four nights and the bain marie was different every day.

I didn't pay for a food package and found the pricing was on par with other islands I stayed on. Please remember you're on a small island, off a slightly larger island in the middle of the South Pacific.

They have their own Red boat transfer which goes three times a day and is pretty the same price as the big ferry. If you're heading back to the mainland, the Red boat is almost 1.5hrs quicker. Can't recommend it enough.

If you're after 5-star, this is not the resort for you. If you're after a boutique experience with warm people who learn your name on day one then you cannot go past Serenity. The beach front accommodation is great value, especially when you compare to other resorts in the same price bracket.

We stayed here over Christmas. The beech front cabins are wonderful, truly relaxing, fantastic pool and fantastic food in the restaurant all reasonably priced.

What really made our time here so special was the amazing staff. They all care so much and go out of their way to make your stay truly amazing. As it was Christmas a lot of the staffs family came to stay and it was great meeting their children it was was a real family affair!! That really made it feel like Christmas for me.

Unfortunately a cyclone was due to hit so we were advised to head back to the mainland so our holiday on the islands got cut short. What I would say is the team at serenity kept us updated by email and in person making sure they spoke to everyone which was very impressive. The island we were due to go to made no communication so well done and thank you management and team at serenity!!

Bure was ok except leaked water when raining and bathroom hot water took 15 minutes to come through. Breakfast was always cold no matter how early I got there. I don't think they turn on the bain-marie. Orange juice was warm and did not taste like any juice i can remember. Lunch time sandwiches were just ok but dinner menu was not what I normally eat and I just like simple food. Beach was a good walk from Bure 19 along a very slippery wooden walkway. The staff were constantly sweeping away the slippery leaves and they do a great job with what facilities are available. 24 hour fitness centre is a shack with excersize bikes that are u/s and a pile of rusty dumbells. No daily activities due to weather for the whole week but they could not help that. I did not like the fact you must order dinner during the afternoon as the kitchen is very small. Drinks are cold and bar staff great but no snacks available and no stubbie holders for sale so take one or two with you. With just a few changes this resort could be very good value but at the moment I would not go back. It is the cheapest island resort and it shows. Pool was closed whole week.

Nature, sea and weather were great. But further ... The house for living is primitive, the toilet room communicates with the living room by the ceiling, respectively, all sounds and smells are mixed. The equipment is the cheapest, so everything is noisy and does not work well. The TV panel hangs, but there is no signal. The Internet is in mysterious corners and constantly falls off, the speed is low. The tap water is salty and cannot be used for coffee, it's good that we brought three boxes from the main island with us in advance. Breakfast in the restaurant is muesli, jams, bread and coffee only. Omelet and something else for a fee. Lunch and dinner are prepared for a long time and not very tasty. Drinks are very expensive. Now if you left a credit card number and other data, be prepared for unfamiliar transactions. On the third transaction, the bank offered me to block my card, which I did. A little later, SMS began to arrive on dates from local girls. The staff tried to compensate for this service with their kindness and willingness, but they do their best and in the evenings they are also artists and musicians. And on top of that, there are flies, flies everywhere...

We had an mostly enjoyable stay at serenity.

The food was delicious and staff were very friendly and helpful. Sami went above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable stay.

The down side to our stay was the cost. We paid circa $700 nzd per night after a 25% discount. Drinks and food were on top of this cost. Drinks were expensive and the happy hour costs were around the prices of other resorts.

The facilities were run down and needed some attention but that can be expected after COVID lockdowns etc.

Overall the resort doesn’t offer value for money. If the price was lower you would attract more people to the resort.

It’s location to the mainland is very convenient around 30 minutes. Fiji’s a beautiful country with lots to islands to visit, due to the price point I wouldn’t rush to put this resort on your must see list.

We had booked a beach side bure which is literally 10 mts from the water. Other stays are also very close to water, say 50 mts or so. Very comfy rooms with a/c, clean bathrooms, beach/pool towel and good enough toiletries. Ensure you carry umbrella since Nov to Feb/mar is wet. Carry a good sunscreen. They do have cancer council approved ones that they sell.

They have awesome staff who is always looking after all your needs. Warm and welcoming.

For the room, it's pretty neat and stays clean unless there is T-storms. Dec is a wet month and we had rains for a lot of our stay period and rain waters gushed into the rooms few times. So much that we had to use towels at the door to stop water from getting in.

Network wasn't reliable for most times for may be worth it if you stick to international roaming. Wifi works but only in the main corridors (which for me is a good thing coz I literally want my phone working only when needed).

Food (including the b'fast, lunch and dinner) is really good unless you are a fussy eater coz 80% of the menu is the same everyday. All the pool side menu food items are quite good. The cocktails are a hit and a miss. We wanted to do a few cocktails afterhours, next to the water and in our room but we couldn't since there is only the Doritos/other chips they have to offer to snack on.

To top it all, they have really good masseurs. TIP: Do a couple of cocktails and a massage after. I passed out with all the serene atmosphere and sounds of nature ;p

We quite enjoyed the new years' party - the buffet arrangement was brilliant with all the salads, starters, meat, sea food and deserts you'd normally expect in a new year beach party. Fireworks were good too.

Overall, worth the money spent. Definitely can do it again.

Hi, from the shore it is not possible, because the large and medium ones do not go in shallow water. Need a boat. Local guides offer primitive fishing, hook, reel line and pieces of fish. You don't have to carry the gear so far.
