We had been staying in some beautiful Wilderness lodges so this was a bit of a comedown. However for a one night stay in order to visit the bushmen it was OK.There is nothing better in this area. The room and facilities are basic but at least it was clean.

We have noted your review. We thank you for your constructive criticism and take it to heart while we strive to improve our service for all our guests. Because Tsumkwe Lodge is so remote and far from reliable service providers, the lodge faces many logistical challenges compared to an establishment close to town. Maintenance, transport of stock and various other logistical issues can sometimes be challenging to resolve at any given moment. We don’t always have a quick fix for everything but, we do not deny the smaller things that can be fixed with a simple explanation or alternative solution when a guest complains. TUCSIN Tsumkwe Lodge has embarked on a mission. Renovations have been completed on all the rooms and the main area. We trust the improvements will add value to our guests experience and afford them a memorable stay. The staff continue to undergo training to improve their level of service delivery. Our staff are now all certified by the Namibian Training Authority for each course they have complete. Considering our location and sparse population in the area, the Wi Fi is slow and limited but, it`s the best we can provide for now. Better technology is on its way, we are positive it will eventually reach us in a short while. Tsumkwe Lodge wishes to thank every guest sincerely and emphasize the importance of your contribution - Visitors to TUCSIN Tsumkwe Lodge are not only able to experience the ancient and unique culture of the San community but also contribute to the improved livelihoods of the local San people. 100% of profits generated by the TUCSIN Tsumkwe Lodge fund local projects in education, income generation, training, cultural preservation and more.

The tiny little village of Tsumkwe located in the Bushmanland of Nambia has remained untouched and isolated in the 35 years since I have last been there. We travelled to Tsumkwe from Rundu on the Maanligroad- which had about 7 farm gates to open and close- very nice. The road from Maroelaboom is straight though without farm gates. Bushmanland is entered through the Rooidag gate which is a veterinary gates. This means you can take raw meat and milk into Bushmanland but not out. They don't tell you this at the gate though and expect you to read the signs. When we exited we only had pasteurised milk with us which is not an item that needs to be confiscated- the dutiful lady in charge at the gate though neverthless searched our car, took the milk and then promptly kept us hostage for about an hour- locking the gate and refusing to let us out of the reserve- all just because we told her it was nonsense that she took our pasteurised milk. What can you do- just go witn the flow and give them whatever they want- otherwise you will be stuck at the gate until kingdom come. The lodge was nice- the rooms well equipped- the shower great and the doors and windows had mosquito covers on which helped a lot. There was no fridge or kettle in the room- so no early morning coffee. The room included breakfast which was surprisingly good and well stocked ( although they ran out of eggs) for such a remote location. The braai facilities is about 40 metres from the rooms- it was well equipped with a light and a tap so we did not have to rush our braai to be finished before dark. Ask as reception for some firewood- it costs R50 for a wheelbarrow full of enough wood to burn until the next morning. The lodge has good camping sites and adequate ablution facilities for campers. Other than the Kaudum 4x4 trail the town's only other "entertainment" are the Bushmen's activities which are a few kilometes away from town. One can nevertheless hear the Bushmen songs after dark which is a very soothing sound in the middle of the bush.
