It's one of those places I felt I had to visit... It will only be once though! At $1000 a night the room was grubby. At 9 pm there is a parade on sunset boulevard that is so loud the entire building vibrates. I complained, stating I had paid over the odds for one of the best rooms, nothing was...

The hotel is beautiful as is the staff and the majority of guests, but there is a specific entertainment-boozy way this hotel is meant to be enjoyed. The food is only good, the attractive staff is often too distracted to be doing their jobs, and the beautiful guests will keep you up all night unless you're in a cottage with...

I've stayed here a couple of times in the last six months. I don't live in the L.A. area anymore, but simply love the memories evoked by the way the hotel has taken great pains to keep the hotel (I stay on the cottage side) the way I remember my childhood. There are well landscaped brick paths, fish ponds, lots...

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here for three nights - it was a "bucket list" visit for him. It is very much a place of charming, old Hollywood glamour from a bygone era - don't expect sparkling, new or modern! We paid for an upgraded bedroom and it was worth it. The room had a very retro...

Didn't stay at the hotel. We had drinks and appetizers at the bar to people watch. It was luxurious. The live piano player and stories of rock stars and celebs had my starstruck self wide eyed. Didn't see anyone, but the paparazzi were out front. They are very sensitive to the privacy of their clientele – no photos allowed!

I gave it 4 stars for the a: attraction factor (which counts), b: the food quality and c: the staff. The hotel is quite run down. I wouldn't go as far as to say old world charm, although there are some aspects that qualify, it's really just, well... old. While that in itself can be charming for it's historical appeal,...

Not the most modern of hotel rooms in LA but full of charm, and great foood and the best bar, choose a hillside or poorside bunglow for the real LA vibe , also dont forget to try rhe steak sandwich for lunch

You either get this place or you don't. It has absorbed the personalities of all who have made it their home over the years. It exudes a sense of timeless confidence - it knows who it is and it challenges you to decide if you have a similar sense of yourself. It is is a comfortable, welcoming refuge for those...

mouth wateringly expensive and desperately in need of some refurb in the rooms. Shabby chic, ok I get that. But this is shabby chic gone dowdy in the standard rooms. Bathrooms in particular need a makeover. Excellent dining.

We've stayed at the Chateau every year, or thereabouts, for the past ten years and I've absolutely no idea why it's taken me so long to write this review. Because, with the exception of my own home (which contains my cats and so has a very unfair advantage) this is my favourite place on earth. It's how I imagine going...
