The Howard Creek Ranch is an eclectic mix of rooms and cabins filled with antiques, stained glass and windows everywhere. There are 2 paths that lead to the ocean and beach and there is a beautiful garden with all kinds of flowers, hummingbirds and other birds next to the main house. If you enjoy photography there is no shortage of... More

We love it here. My family and I enjoyed two locations right out the door from one another that made coming and going easy and convenient. We loved browsing around marveling at Sonny's antique dinnerware sets among other items that take you back. I'm glad we had the opportunity to enjoy this place. It was old but clean.

We only stayed one night en route to the Avenue of the Giants but would thoroughly recommend it. If you like swish modern soul-less places don't stay here but we absolutely loved it - the whole place is like a film set from the turn of the century (or maybe even earlier!) and full of old equipment, furniture and treasures.... Sonny and his wife are incredible. They purchased the property over 40 years ago. Sony is a savant and has built or remodeled all of the buildings using recycled materials. The gardens are spectacular. The buildings and rooms are a throwback to another time and are soooo cool and unique! It is a short walk to the beach from the... More

Another room would probably give it an extra star. I pan on checking it out again with my husband some day. As it was, we got a two room suite on the ground floor. We couldn't open the windows, and couldn't open the doors or curtains, if we wanted any privacy. Being so close to the ocean, and the closed... More

I want to keep HCR a secret. It may not be for everyone, but I love it I place to recharge and reconnect. And your dogs are welcome. I love the country breakfasts, the Beach, the trail and the conversations. I want to keep HCR a secret. It may not be for everyone, but I love it I place to... More

I have stayed here twice, and it is downright magical! If you need TV, WiFi, or sterile conditions to enjoy yourself perhaps stay somewhere else. If you like mystery and adventure this is the place for you! It is a little rough around the edge, but in my opinion, in all the most gorgeous ways. It is the right price... More

I really wanted to like this place and we did enjoy talking with hosts, Sally and Sunny and the sumptuous breakfasts they cooked up in their warm, cozy, 1871 farmhouse, visiting delightful nearby Westport and watching the pelicans surf above the waves by day and being lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean at night. Unfortunately both our... More

We stayed last year and I didn't write a review then but probably should have after reading one that said they arrived when the electricity had gone off and they couldn't have gotten out of there and back to Fort Bragg fast enough. I thought that was very funny. It is very different and not for the faint of heart.... More

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by innkeeper, Sunny, and Oreo the cat. We were escorted to Lucy's Room atop the old (1871) farm house. As advertised, Lucy's room is small. But it was comfy for the 2 of us ... might be a little tight for a longer stay. The bathroom was compact, but nicely upgraded. The woodwork throughout... More
