This is our 6th straight year at Mountain Thunder and I am not sure I would stay anywhere else based on the location, facilities, shuttles and proximity to the town. The shuttle service allows for easy access to the town if needed or the slopes....More

This was a lovely place. It was clean and well maintained. The staff was exceptionally friendly. The decor was very nice for a ski lodge. Wifi was exceptionally fast and free. Our unit came with a private reserved ski locker. And we had some of...More
Very conveniently located to skiing and the staff goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Our room was on the first floor and steps away from the ski locker, the garage and the hot tub! I'd come again
Positives: Spacious rooms, kitchen, excellent and quick shuttle service to town/restaurants. Location is convenient to town.
Negatives: Uncomfortable mattress, Motel 6 quality towels, no bathrobe/slippers to go to hot tub, Hot tubs are very small and were always full during apres ski, Long wait to...More
The room was great, and the ski in capabilities (as opposed to walking over and taking the gondola) were great. Our room had a fireplace, garbage and very nice bathroom set up. Room service was very convenient also.

This is Bill--not Ann. Somehow trip advisor got my wife's email address. Probably my mistake. On to your question. I had never stayed at a lodge before my recent trip to Colorado. We did not rent a car, and I am glad about that. The weather would have challenged my driving abilities. The lodges have free shuttles to get you just about anywhere you want to go, and the intervals between buses stopping at your lodge are usually around 20 minutes. We experienced very little wait in getting our shuttle from the airport to our lodge. Just make sure you know where to go in the airport to get check in to the shuttle service. We inadvertently went right outside and then discovered that we had to check in at a counter inside the airport. Setting things up ahead of time is a good idea. Colorado Mountain Express, Peak 1, and Peak 2 are reliable and responsible. Others are, too, I'm sure.
