If you aren't looking for luxury, and want a place to put your stuff and sleep at night, the cabins here are great. Wood cabins with bathrooms, a small kitchen, and beds, its the perfect place to stay when you'll be out all day in the wilderness.

The first call I made was to a lady Josie. She was so incredible. Not only did she find a way to accommodate my wife 2 kids AND our family member with four legs in a perfect cabin. She also booked several activities. The Prospectors know all the great folks around...near and far. Josie booked ATV up the divide. 2... More

We have been to Canon city many times to take the helicopter tour and go whitewater rafting. We had stayed at the crowded KOA. Never again!!! Prospectors is more open with way better family amenities that are free. My son spent the whole day today at the club house and on the bouncing pillow trampaline thing. We really like this... More

Our family stayed at the Prospector this weekend. We had a great time!! The owner Mike was super nice as well as all of the staff we had the pleasure to meet. We stayed in a cabin and it was clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. We are excited to come back soon and we're sorry the... More

We are tent campers, and selected Prospector's after reading reviews. This trip was mainly a destination for the children, and our first visit to an organized campground. The ladies in the office were wonderful - the campground is under new ownership and is being revived, but the employees at Prospector's is what brought my rating up from a 4 to... More

My mom and I stumbled across this place after a terrible experience at the Canon City Quality Inn and we couldn't have been happier! The experience was truly a pleasure from check-in to check-out and I highly recommend making Prospectors Campground a stop on any Colorado trip. The staff are all very down to earth and friendly, helpful to say... More

We spent 2 nights here in June on our big family vacation. The owners/management were soooo nice. My brother-in-law had to move to 4 different spots before they found one that the 50amp service was working. Because of the inconvenience, the owner comped their stay. Used the laundry and it was clean and worked well. Would stay here again. The... More

Thank you for taking the time to review our campground. Just to reiterate.......so sorry about the electrical issue. It is always horrifying for us when something like that happens. Thank you for being understanding, and working with us to get you situated in a better spot. It was a pleasure to have your family here. More

We came to CO to ride the train. No planning for the most part. No linens. No reservations. . Found Prospectors upon the advice of a local cafe. What a doll!! Sent us over to be absolutely spoiled!! Josie: see her for reservations. Set us up in #10 Cabin (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) w/ linens. Kitchen, microwave, stove, plates, cups, garbage bags.... More

Arrived late on Friday, no problem for Mike as he guided us down to a little pad among the trees and used his 4 wheeler to light up the place so we could back in without issue. We researched (much review reading) ALL the campgrounds in the area prior to choosing; including KOA, Echo Canyon, Starlite, Mountain View, Royal View, etc. While each one had its niche that gave it reasons to try, Prospectors won the review showdown. After camping there this last weekend we had no regrets and plan on coming back. Here are three things... More

“We liked they way site 68 was tucked behind a cabin and had alot of trees around it. Site 71 is good for privacy as there is your camper between you and the site 70 and no other sites on the other side. Any of the wooded section sites you can't go wrong with; just tell Josie what you are looking for and she will reserve you the best available.”
