Our room was "so" beautiful; beds were new mattresses, very comfortable, and plenty of blankets and pillows. Best of all; "all" bedding, including the bedspreads were freshly washed. The outdoor veranda, overlooking downtown, and the train depot... was just magical. The staff; from check in to check out; were all so helpful, and kind... made us feel special, throughout our... I feel compelled to let my fellow travelers know in advance; there is virtually no A/C in the rooms. We called the front desk & were told the thermostats in the rooms are disabled & they have central air. Our room never got below 78° which made it tough to sleep. That aside, the hotel is beautiful, clean & historic.... More

Had a great 3 night stay at this historic hotel in the heart of lovely Durango. We were here primarily for the Durango Silverton Steam Locomotive Excursion. Hotel's décor is ornate with fancy chandelier, staff very hospitable and continental breakfast buffet was included in the price. This was located right next door to the Start of the Durango Silverton Locomotive... More

What a treat staying in this beautiful hotel! Rooms are classy, cozy, and quaint. Breakfast from 7-10 is included. Great location and friendly staff. A MUST experience. Across the street from great restaurants, shopping and Starbucks.

This was our 6th visit to the General Palmer, which we love because of its old world charm, excellent service, and lovely breakfasts in a beautifully appointed, antique setting. When you're there, you feel like you're in another era, one that's quieter, less rushed, and more sane. Unfortunately, GP has changed the breakfast plan. Coffee, bread, and cereal are still... More

Dear GDL482 We are so sorry that the new breakfast program left you feeling "short" on experience. As a Luxury Boutique Hotel we strive to satisfy the needs of the all of our guests. After many comments about our breakfast we elected to remove the hot entree as it was not custom prepared. That is the only thing we eliminated... More

We were greeted at the desk by Natasha, who was very friendly and helped make dinner plans for us at Ken and Sue's. Dawson helped bring our luggage to our room, which was charming. You must request a room with a window or else you will get an inside room. We were lucky that the hotel was not full and... More

My husband and I were treated to a night at the General Palmer following our wedding. Our stay there was very comfortable and the staff was more that willing to help us in any way possible. We loved the comfortable room along with the peace and quiet it offered. However the real meat of this story occurred over a month... More

I stayed in a 2 bedroom/1 bath suite in the building across the parking lot. Room was comfortable with separate AC/Heat and TV for each room. Bathroom was small and you had to walk through bedroom to access it. Nostalgia was great but room had that old feeling and you had to go up a big flight of stairs (24... More

Dear Robert D, Glad to hear you enjoyed the room. The "Annex" that consists of 9 rooms is at our sister property which was formerly The Palace Hotel. The rooms in the Palace wing predate the rooms at The General Palmer. Sorry you felt us to be understaffed. We have front desk staff on duty 24 hours a day and... More

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were very nice and accommodating. The hotel seems very well maintained, very clean and updated. We would definitely stay here again. There are comfortable sitting areas inside as well as some tables and chairs outside with views of the mountains and downtown. I love the fact that we were within walking distance... More

You take a step back in time to a place over a hundred years old but it doesn't look worn or dated. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful (Natasha and Dawson) and the room was very comfortable. We would stay here again. You won't be disappointed
