We are a small ecolodge cum fields research center located smack in the middle of the jungle. Only accessible by boat after a 1 hour to 2 hour trip depending on water level. The lodge caters to the intrepid nature traveler who does not mind some discomforts while savouring the unexpected comforts offered this far from civilazation as one immerses in the Malayan rainforest.Small numbers of guests makes stays at Earth Lodge private and personalized. We always strive to comply with ecotourism principles in our operations.Run as a conservation enterprise, we are active in advocacy work with local conservation NGO's aiming for better management and protection of this important conservation area.

This was a truly memorable and unique experience. Hymer our host and guide made everything run smoothly for us. Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the place and conservation in general .Assisted by the solid and very capable boatman/cook Zul. The pair of them looked after us very well.It is hard to get to Ulu Muda without your own transport but don't let that deter you. If you are seeking a true and genuine rain forest experience this is the place. You reach the lodge by boat and you leave the world behind for 4 days. You are immersed in the rain forest. The treks to the caves and to the honey trees and hot springs were great and the evening wild-life watching boat trips were wonderful, so serene as you are paddled along by Zul. After an hour or so you can feel it on

Our trip to Earth Lodge formed part of our tour around Malaysia and looking back it was one of the highlights! As lovers of the outdoors, this trip fitted in perfectly and was an excellent break from the hustle and bustle of city life. On the four days we had a full itinerary of boat trips, cave visit, tubing, hot springs and salt lick visit. We were very lucky to see a wide range of wildlife and on three occasions managed to spot elephants. Hymeir, the guide, was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable about the area. Zol, chef/boatman, cooked up some delicious food. Would highly recommend a visit!

Four of us stayed for a 3D/2N package in late June and had a truly amazing time. From meeting Hymeir and his team at the jetty, the whole experience felt like an adventure. The four of us plus three staff were 'it' and it felt like our own expedition into the rainforest. Hymeir was in a excellent host full of knowledge about the surroundings - but humble enough to say 'I don't know' or 'we don't know yet' to many questions, hinting at the mystery and wonder still surrounding the forests of this region. His emphasis on the 'light footprint' of the lodge was also encouraging when so often natural places are ruined by a human presence. We thoroughly enjoyed the hike to the caves which were breathtakingly beautiful. Also the hotsprings and evening wildlife boat trips were a

Earth Lodge is a great place for Nature lovers. The journey there is already great: you drive to the jetty, enter the boat - and leave civilisation. After some time, you arrive in wonderland. No internet, no mobile phones. Green jungle everywhere. Clean rivers. Nice little bungalows where you can spend the night. Beautiful jungle walks. Huge trees - some with sun bear markings! A great cave. Climbing. River crossing. Eating thermophilic bacteria. Smelling tapir. Setting up camera traps. Elephants were eating the sugar from the sugar bowl in the kitchen in the night. Oh my, what a place. I love to go there, with students and colleagues, to do real educational biomimetic jungle walks. Earth Lodge is the perfect place for this. And for YOUR jungle experience, too. Come and enjoy!

This is a great place to go for a very real rainforest experience delivered by a very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable host and we were really well looked after. Highlights for us were relaxing at the lodge, listening to the sounds of the rainforest, especially the dawn and dusk sounds of insects, frogs and gibbons; morning and evening boat trips on the river; cruising down the river on inner tubes (so cool and relaxing!), discovering insects of all different shapes, sizes and colours; getting a really privileged chance to observe honey being harvested at the tualang tree; having wonderful food prepared for us throughout our stay; and learning so much from Hymeir. He is a wonderful host! We didn't want to leave! Thanks so much to Hymeir and Ami (skilled boatman and

Earth Lodge is not for those who cannot live without the creature comforts of air-conditioned rooms, fancy toilets and luxurious foods. It is also not for the squirmish who cannot stand leeches swarming all around them while trekking in the jungle. It is suited for nature lovers who want to immerse themselves in the Malaysian rainforest. Hymeir has intimate knowledge about the caves, birds, animals and insects of Ulu Muda. Under his guidance, you will get to visit a cave (after trekking for two hours in leech-infested jungle) and salt licks, and get to observe him check camera traps. White-handed gibbons, eagles, wild boars, hornbills and, if lucky, elephants, are some of the animals you might get to see. Apart from cameras, binoculars are useful to have. Of course, leech socks
