(First and foremost, make sure you are looking at Elk Creek Campground NEW CASTLE, CO- huge difference than the "other" Elk Creek Campground) So my family stayed for four nights (supposed to be five) in mid-August. The place was packed on Saturday and empty by Sunday night. It is a fantastic location by the creek and no noise (cars/trains/etc)- we...

We only stayed here because we were tired and didn't want to try to find another campground late in the day on a Friday. Our first impression, because of the profusion of weeds, was that the owners don't care for the park. Our second impression was that the owners don't care about the park because no one was in the...

Traveled here for a wedding. What beautiful scenery all around! Checked in to a nice little cabin just within the campsite. Management was kind, price was great, and cabin inside and out was neat. Bring your own bedding and cleaning supplies, as they are not supplied. Fridge and microwave in some of the cabins, windows you may open and have...

I spoke to Matt several times before we decided on this campground. I told him the length of our RV, and stated we had 3 slide outs. I was told there was 1 site left that would fit our needs. I told Matt I would talk to my husband, and call him in the morning. Next morning, I called and...

The RV sites are tighter than we are used to. The property is nice and many sights have 100% shade so it is a good idea to look at google earth and compare it to the site map to see if your site is shaded or open. The creek is close but access can be limited if the campground is...

Elk Creek Campground is a very low key, easy going, quiet camp. Located in New Castle it is far enough from the highway and train but right on the water's edge. The river was up when we were there so the sound of rushing water was amazing. The check in process is pretty lax because the office is only open...

This is a great find on the creek and close to town. Mobile reception spotty but you can connect to their wifi with no problem. Great sites with electrical hookups and fire pits and picnic benches. Friendly staff, clean restrooms!

We called the day before and were able to make a reservation for a Saturday night...that probably should have been our first clue. We did tent camping, and all of the sites were extremely close together. We unintentionally used the firepit and table of the site next to us (because our fire pit didn't have a grill on it, and...

Elk Creek Where do I start…first let me say we did not stay here, after driving at least 7 miles off the highway to this hole in the wall campground I felt the need to let other people know not to waste their time. You take a drive throw an area with some nice homes, then you come to a...

We stayed 2 nights. This place has great potential. Unfortunately the bathrooms are not kept clean & their are weeds overgrown through out the grounds. Also they show up at the so called office when the spirit moves them. You truly will feel like you are camping at this campground. No "glam-amping " here.
