Hotel Gasthof Gramshammer is the perfect place to stay for access to everything "Vail." It is located smack-dab in the middle of Vail Village and only a very short walk to the bus stop if a visit to Lions Head is on the agenda. Everything...More

Lovely small hotel right in the heart of Vail. Great staff-- lovely rooms. The hot tub was out of commission and there was some renovation in process-- but really not an issue. We were upgraded to a lovely room with a full kitchen. We come...More

We stayed at Gasthof Gramshammer for a Vail Bravo concert and would recommend them. Our room was big enough for the two of us with a nice bathroom, king size bed, and large closet. We requested a quiet room and were placed above the reception...More

We went in the summer, so I have no idea about ski hire. When we arrived at the airport in the evening, jet lagged from England with no intention of hiring a car, we were shocked to discover that there was only one taxi which was a mini bus for 7 which was very expensive for just the two of us, can't remember the price in dollars but it was the equivalent of £135 for the 35 mile journey. Maybe there are more taxis in the winter as it is a ski resort. Your hotel can probably give you the best advice about both queries. Maybe they can book you a taxi. There were no buses available but it was in the summer.

The hotel has limited under ground parking on a first come basis. You will only need your car if you leave Vail Village. There is free bus transportation all through Vail. I am not sure about the rates at the Vail parking garage, but my guess is that if long-term is available it will be less than the twenty dollars a night at the hotel. You have selected the most convenient location in Vail.
