We stayed here very recently for Newbury Races and the location was perfect it was so easy to get to and a taxi was £40 return. With regards to the bedroom, the bed was comfy and was made each morning we were there and the towels changed each day however the room could have done with a good clean. On...

The Five bells is an excellent pub, great bar and beer selection and a lovely open fire. The food looks fantastic, and I've eaten at their sister pub in Hungerford, the John O'Gaunt, which is also great. That this is a brewpub, with it's own beers, makes it all the better. There's traditional pub games, daily papers and outdoor seating.

Arranged to meet with family for lunch, pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, could not fault it. The steak and ale pie was perfectly cooked, steak that melted in the mouth, all washed down with good real ale.

My husband and I love this little pub, it's ales amd food. The shortcrust pastry pies are delicious and the chicken pie comes with an amazing cream sauce. We would usually give a five stars but today instead of the normal triple cooked home made chips we had greasy chips that were obviously fried from frozen. Service is really friendly,...

We stayed at the Five Bells last weekend and stayed on the Saturday evening. We were allocated room 1 which has the shower and stand alone bath in the room. Very nice for a couples weekend away! The room was tastefully decorated, and located on the ground floor. The pub is really pretty with a thatched roof and very authentic...

Four of us aye together. Good choice of menu, daily specials, and beers. Two of us had Halibut, one had the fish pie, one a steak. Chips were fab. All food really tasty. Starters- one goat cheese tart, one black pudding Scotch egg. Both very good. We had one pudding - sticky toffee - and 4 spoons which the pub...

Classic country pub located on the B4000 main road through Wickham village. Low ceiling and beamed bar with a row of pumps devoted partly to ciders and mainly speciality beers. Cheerful atmosphere with warming log fire, an excellent place to sample some more unusual real ales. In particular enjoyed some Ramsbury and Animal beer. We didn't eat but the menu...

We had a great stay here and felt thoroughly welcome by all of the staff. The room was great (be aware that the bathroom is open plan (separate toilet)). We loved our meal and the choice of drinks available. We'll be back. Breakfast was also enjoyable.

We use 5 bells fairly regularly - the real ales are superb though the lagers are quite limited. the staff are really helpful and pleasantly laid back. though attentive. The menu's are good but as veggies are a little limited. The furniture needs a bit of an upgrade though the log fir is to die for. I don't want to...

My wife booked us in here as a present as she saw the pub in CAMRA good pub guide. It certainly lives up to its billing there, as this is a great pub, with lots of real ales, including some brewed on the premises, and a fine selection of Belgian beers in bottles. We had a very pleasant dinner, which...
