We spent there one night, a family with two children. Great hotel, comfortable, and rooms with great views over the fiord. It is completely isolated. There are no restaurants around 25 km, so the only option is the hotel restaurant. They have a short menu, but we had the salmon and it was excel lent. Breakfast is poor, compared to...

Great views, and east to get to the ferry. Interesting buildings but rooms musty & outdated. WiFi only works in the restaurant area, not in the bedrooms.Only 2 options for dinner, which they started running out of. Live band played until 2 am making it impossible to sleep.

My wife and I spent just one night at this hotel. It was the second leg of a self-arranged fly drive tour of southern and mid-Norway. Although check-in was from 3.00 pm, we were delighted that our room was available when we arrived more than two hours earlier. Conveniently, we were able to park the car right by the door...

The hotel is two story low profile bordering the fjord. The architecture is creative and unique, with rustic, natural materials, and trapezoid shaped windows throughout. Most rooms and spaces are not rectangular either. Many rooms are steps from the shore. Our evening meal was excellent. Menu was limited but all the choices we tried were very good and nicely presented....

this is a turf roofed wooden hotel commanding superb views of the fjord. The rooms look over the fjord and have a small balcony. There is plenty of outside tables and seating in the bar/restaurant area. The staff were enthusiastic and friendly. It is unique.

A great place to enjoy the sunset over the bay. Rooms are as what I experienced located totally undisturbed in relation to traffic both at sea and on land. Motorcycle friendly place that is also suitable for larger groups. The friendly hosts served great food in the restaurant which has a spacious terrace with beautiful sea view. Good value for...

Brekkestranda Fjord Hotel is the place to stop, stay and eat if you are visiting this area. A pearl of a place, situated on the banks of Norway's longest fjord. The hotel is built in a unique style and is quaint, charming and hospitable. Family run, good food and a relaxed atmosphere makes this the perfect place for a meal,...

On the way from Sognefjord to Bergen and in need of an accommodation, just by chance we came upon this unexepctedly lovely hotel. Brekkestranda is located on an inlet of the Sognefjord, past the village of Brekke. It is directly on the water, no building around it, just wild flowers and sea birds. The one/or two floors small buildings are...

I stayed here for twon nights in December on business. This one goes on the "interesting" list. The rustic Brekkestranda Fjord Hotell gets a 10 on the rusticity scale. The wood construction is great, and the odd angles make it an experience for the eyes in particular. The drive here was good too, very scenic, through steep valleys with waterfalls...

By the mouth of the Sognefjorden is one of the most exciting hotel complexes in Norway. Made by the famous architect Bjørn Simmonæs, the hotel is made of pine wood and is rustic and cozy. It has over 1100 various windows and the hotel is known as the unsymmetrical hotel. The complex consists of small houses with grass roofs all facing in various directions. Birds live on the roofs. The rooms are called nests. They give the impression that they have risen from the ground beneath them, and their rooms are cosy nests.Relax on the rocks by the Sognefjord or on your balcony, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. In the village of Brekke, agriculture and fish farming are the most important industries.Full service restaurant offers fresh salmon, meets and food from local sources.Express buses, boats and ferry services provide excellent communications. The express buses stop near the village several times times a day on their journey between Bergen, Trondheim, Ålesund and Stryn. ... more   less
