Loved the Griswold Inn restaurant with good food and atmosphere. Over 200 years of history is on the walls of the restaurant and tavern and the food was excellent. We were there on a Monday night and the bar quickly filled up with patrons singing old sea chanteys and Irish songs. I don't know if that's a regular thing or...

Hello Jeff! Greetings from The Gris! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your comments with the traveling public! You happened on one of our very spirited nights in the Tap Room and yes - the aptly-named Jovial Crew play EVERY Monday night as well as a few other special evenings throughout the year. Our award-winning Tap Room...

I wanted to amend my review of the Gris that I made awhile ago-- in which I did not have the greatest food experience. This time was for an early lunch and I had one of the best salads that I have ever had in a restaurant. Fresh and perfectly dressed (not drowned in dressing); I had the seasonal spring...

Beautifully old and rugged Inn - they've been serving and caring for guests since the Revolution - and they have a hoppin' pub too. Food is delicious, some classic, some new, and then you move over to the Pub for a wild night of music, drinking, dancing hootin' and hollerin'. It's beautifully located in gorgeous historic Essex, on Connecticut River....

We have been going to the Griswold Inn for many years and simply love our visits. We stayed in a recently updated room and were so comfortable. The dinners were a delight with many a Yankee fare available on the menu. It was nice to find the same lemon soap that we associate with our stay while the rooms were...

Griswold Inn has a great Pub. One night get away and the lunch was great. Our waiter ( Steve ) made some great lunch recommendations. The winter drink selection was spot on and the sandwich and chowder hit the spot. Steve was also very helpful about things to do in the area. We stayed across the street in a 1...

The Gris as, it's known locally is a great place for a drink or a meal. The art alone is worth the visit. The food is very well prepared and the service is very professional. Fun entertainment in the bar.

This was our third visit to this inn. We always book a standard room. The rooms in the main inn are being renovated so we stayed in a renovated room in the adjacent building. The room was nice, queen bed, antique furniture, small but nice bath. My only issue with this as well as I the previous rooms we stayed...

This is just what you want in a cozy New England Inn. We stayed with our 2 teenage granddaughters in a deluxe suite. It was perfect! Sitting room, pull out couch for them and separate bedroom for us. Sitting room was great to play games in and has a gas fireplace. Was disappointed in the "continental breakfast". Not many choices....

We just spent five nights at The Gris and it was absolutely wonderful. We were even fortunate enough to be blessed with a major snowstorm so the Inn and Essex were transformed into a picture perfect postcard. The staff was amazing during the storm and it was probably one of the most enjoyable and relaxing days I've had in years....

We had lunch after viewing the eagles on the CT river cruise. The food was excellent and atmosphere was very comfortable. A great 'tavern' feel with some Guiness, perfect! I encourage everyone to try it. I hear this is the oldest continuously operating tavern in the US.

Griswold Greetings! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your comments! We think it's the perfect spot to enjoy before or after a winter adventure out on the River but, of course, we are a bit biased! :) The Griswold Inn is one of the oldest continuously operating inns in the country: established in 1776, it has never...
