A less than warm welcome put us off when we checked in. The hotel was nicely refurbished but the room was tiny or at least stuffed with two queen beds. There was only one chair, which annoyed us as we are not bed sitters. Breakfast...More
Good location, very close to Yale University. Positive was the easy access with the car as they had a garage at the opposite of the hotel. Friendly service and a good room. All in all a very pleasent stay at this hotel. Will certainly recommend...More

This hotel has been here for quite a long time, but it went through a renovation in 2000s. The result is a charming solid four star hotel with neat spacious rooms.

The New Haven Hotel is located about a half mile from Union Station. It would be about a 15 minute walk however we would recommend a taxi. Thank you.

If you're used to Dublin, then I would say that New Haven in and around the Yale Campus is very safe. They have so many campus police there you can tour Yale at all hours and feel safe. Visit restaurants and bars near the NHH and you'll probably be as safe as Dublin. Go several miles out to the outlying neighborhoods, and like anywhere, there could be trouble. For sure, downtown New Haven doesn't have even one tenth the crime of Detroit, MI; St. Louis, MO; Oakland, CA or even Santa Ana, CA 10 miles from me! I felt very safe.
