Old stone houses renovated to create this small complex at a very peaceful location and nicely decorated. Room had everything you needed for a weekend although the living room furniture was too uncomfortable to even wanna stay in. Bathroom extremely small and not up to the standards of the hotel. Kitchen small but cozy and the owner was a really...

My husband and I visited Crete for the first time, and found a gem of a place to stay in Samonas. Very impressed with the quality of the accommodations, with quality furnishings and many small touches in each room. What's most interesting is that that the owner personally designed, remodeled and decorated each villa. We needed quiet rest and relaxation,...

Our second stay. Equally peaceful, beautiful, and a real treasure. A gorgeous retreat from the bussle and hassles of life. Each house is meticulously furnished and designed and conscientiously managed by Constantinos, A week of mountain exploring, eating, and becoming human again. Probably best enjoyed without the children !

Laid out over 4 levels our apartment was one of the most luxurious and authentic apartments I've ever stayed in. We had been rushing around for the last few months preparing for our wedding and it was the best place to just dump our luggage and chill. We swam, read, walked and ate the most amazing breakfasts (you have to...

Indeed, we had some trouble to get there, but it was more then worthwile. We really loved the road up in the mountains to samonas. We enjoyed every view after each turn, and were very much surprised by the warm welcome of Konstatinos once we arrived at our destination. A litle paradise in a litlle village with only friendly people...

We recently stayed at Samonas for 10 days in May, 2010 during our visit to Crete. This was our second trip to Crete - our first was 10 years ago and we stated in Chania. The location was spectacular: in a small village in the mountains of Crete near Chania, with goats, pigs, sheep, and chickens wandering about the pastures...

We stayed at Samonas in house #3, "Diktamos", for three nights at the end of our trip round Crete. We were met and shown to our house and were immediately impressed with the care and attention to detail and overall quality with which the properties have been renovated. The rooms were very well equipped and very comfortable. We very much...

Unexpectedly fantastic location. Quality of the lodging is first class the views are breathtaking and Konstantinos welcome was very warm and friendly. The best part was that the rooms had all the modern conveniences without being overbearing . This is a place to go and relax and leave all your troubles at the bottom of the hill and just chill....

Up in the mountains of Crete, less than 30 minutes away from the bustling town of Hania, you'll find the most wonderful retreat - Samonas Villas. We had decided to book a week there after reading reviews on Tripadvisor and we were certainly not disappointed. The villas are beautifully appointed, and the owner, Konstantinos, is ultra thoughtful. The whole experience...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The traditional settlement of Samonas is a complete renovated neighbourhood in the village of Samonas, in the district of Apokoronas Crete, at an altitude of 400 m and at a distance of 25 km from Chania. All our dwellings are two-storey (maisonettes) with unlimited view to the mountains, valley and the sea. They are exclusively built in stone and wood to match their surroundings. Each is built at a different level due to the ground's steep slope, with common courtyards as well as independent verandas or balconies and quiet corners. They are decorated with many small folklore objects and antiques. All incorporate the same comforts and luxury, although they differ in size and layout. Here you will experience unique moments of relaxation and complete tranquillity in an authentically traditional area, without missing any of the comforts of the modern way of living, which we have quietly incorporated in all our dwellings. ... more   less
