The hotel is overall very good. It is just a few minute walk to the beach, restaurants are within walking distance and many more just a short drive. The hotel was clean and quite. The pool is really nice, it is a zero entry on one side and goes to 5 feet. Breakfast was good but lacked variety.

There were some small things that could be addressed to make it better. The door to our room "stuck" so you had to pull hard or push hard to get it closed, this seems like a safety issue as you had to watch to make sure it closed. The pool towels have to be asked for each time, the staff seems to get frustrated with this process. The big shampoo/body wash bottles needed to be refilled after our first night, we had to ask for replacement as housekeeping is every other day. The breakfast cuts off at 9:30 but at 9 they opted to not make more breakfast sandwiches when they were out even with being asked "this is what we have now" was the response.

Just to note the beach access is wedged in-between some large "private" beach areas. If you were to attend during peak season the area you can set up in is very small. Even in the off season you need to arrive early to get up front. This has nothing to do with the hotel just important to know.

I would stay here again, a few maintenance and upkeep items and this is a 5 star hotel.

Please take note of the following details. My family and I stayed at this hotel and had to check-in early due to our schedule. The hotel was able to accommodate our request, but charged an additional fee of $56.50. Additionally, please be aware that the hotel doesn't manage parking, so you will have to pay an extra $11.77 per night for parking. While the digital key works well, the pool gate can be a bit finicky. We chose this location because it's close to the public beach, which is definitely worth the hassle.

There was only (1) USB charging port in our suite. None at the desk. None on the lamps. Breakfast was not impressive, at all. The full size fridge was nice to have for drinks / leftovers. As hurricane Ida evacuees, access to pool towels during our stay was appreciated. Rooms facing the road had road noise all night long. Request the partial water view (as we did, but didn’t receive) to avoid this noise.

The charge of $10 for parking is outrageous. We were told many different stories regarding the charge (all Hilton properties are charging for parking — false Tru across the road isn’t; the city of Destin is charging, etc). The pool water was like ice as in my legs were numb (we were told many different stories regarding this as well, the pool is not heated, it’s not a hot tub lol, the heater is broken and will be fixed within a day or two…..). Well after 17 days, the pool water was still ice. We’ve stayed at this property several times and never experienced ice cold water before. Carpeting in room was stained red and couch had numerous stains as well. This used to be a nice place to stay….something has definitely changed in the last two years. When I complained about issues, GM offered points….responses to reviews are all generic as in the same response to everyone. Breakfast was very disappointing. The same offerings every day for the most part which when staying 17 days it gets old. The cartons of milk sometimes expired the same day or were expired. As a loyal Diamond member, this hotel misses the mark and no one seems to care. Sad since the location is nice and it used to be a nice place to stay.

My wife and five children drove from Atlanta so we can enjoy Destin before fall break is over. We made our reservations early and booked a connecting room due to the fact we had children we wanted to have access to each other’s rooms. We were greeted by Kathrrina and not a friendly manner as I am a custom to staying at the Hilton hotels. I am a diamond member and practically live my business life in these hotels. I came to the counter while my wife and children were unpacking the truck so I could check I sent. I informed Kathrrina that I had booked a connecting room so she could possibly find it more quickly while looking up our reservation. She basically stated that I had not booked a connecting room and there was none available. Basically accusing me of being a liar. I informed her that I had booked a connecting room and I had done it quite a bit before our stay so there would be no issues. Instead of simply apologizing for the confusion and stating that she would do her best to see what she could do she told me basically I was out of luck. Growing in patient she said I do believe we do have two connecting rooms but they have not been cleaned yet. Mind you this is at 8:00 PM? I ask again how long would it be before we were able to get into our rooms as we had driven a long way and we were extremely tired. She said I don’t know I can’t promise you anything 45 minutes per room! My wife had come in after my exchange with Kathrrina. My wife could tell I was upset and ask what happened and I explain to her that this young lady basically accused me of lying about booking a connecting room. I informed my wife that she did not offer an apology and she was acting as though she was doing us a favor instead of extending good customer service in regards to getting us what we had requested to begin with. I explain to my wife in front of Kathrrina that I was not even offered a simple apology. Of course she stated that I had not given her a chance but during a long 10 minute conversation she had plenty of chances to apologize for the confusion. My wife stated he is still standing here and she begrudgingly and sarcastically apologized. Hilton used to hire great customer service individuals. Obviously their standards now are suspect at best. I would not recommend staying at the Home 2 Suites in Destin.

We reserved and prepaid for a room on the top floor with a partial ocean view for my husbands 50th Birthday. We arrived to the hotel at 10PM on Friday after a 7 hour drive. The front desk explained
“There was an issue with our room and we would not be able to check into that particular room” instead we were brought to room 233 (second level on the street
view side on the same level as the guests who were traveling with their animals) After unloading our luggage and making our way to the room we
were unable to enter as the keypad was not charged. We waited in the hallway on the floor until someone was able to recharge and reset the keypad. We were told that we wouldn’t be able to reopen the door to come and go until it was repaired the following day. At this time, the front desk attendant said if we were unhappy with the room we could switch the following day and for any of the nights we stayed on the lower level we would be refunded the difference in the cost of the room that we already had paid for.

The mattress on the pullout was literally a set of springs bound together with a thin covering. Our kids said they preferred to sleep on the floor as opposed to the set of springs. The dogs on the floor barked and cried all night long…We approached the front desk the next morning for the room switch and were told “there is an electrical issue with your room- you’ll have to stay where you are” We ended up purchasing air mattresses for the kids. The pool was ice cold even though it had advertised as being “heated.” And the lounge chairs were about the most uncomfortable thing we’ve ever felt (aside of that pullout mattress -
My lord) We requested a room clean when we prepaid and pre purchased the room. That cleaning never happened.

The morning of checkout, we inquired about the credit for the difference in the room costs that had been promised to us and were told that was not possible. We ended up meeting the guest that had stayed in room 420. He checked in on Friday at 5pm! This was the most poorly managed hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Needless to say, we will never stay in a Hilton Home Suites again. We are a pretty laid back family but when you lie to someone’s face, you lose
credibility. We get it - accidents happen. People
can check someone into the wrong room, but the staff should be capable of making things right. We paid for a better room, got something pretty awful, were lied
to about the reason and then nothing was done to make it right. Extremely poor staff training and weak customer service management.

This hotel should be a 5 star hotel because of the location. Furniture needs to cleaned, new bedding and beds and quality of food would allow this to happen. Change the carpet out because of the pets and make the floors wood would help with germs.

The hotel was in a great location. We booked a King Suite, the most expensive room they have, and it’s in the worst location. The view was the highway on the first floor. Asked several times about changing rooms, and that room category is just in that spot. The beach is no more than 500 feet away, parking was easy, plenty of food and beverage options within walking distance, pet friendly, the room itself was as described. The buffet just disappointing all the way around, the only thing it was good for was coffee. After trying this brand for several locations, it seems that I started with one of the higher end locations in the beginning as the other properties has been very close in rating, average, worth what I paid, especially for high season in a costal city. I rate property as average. Clean. Extremely convenient.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights after visiting my parents in Florida first thing I have to say about this hotel is it is immaculate, very clean and very comfortable. The best thing about the hotel, though is the staff the desk staff really shined. They were sweet and polite and welcoming at all times. The breakfast is fairly average for a hotel Excalibur. It was free and hot neither really good nor bad probably the least enjoyable thing about the day, but it really didn’t impact the way I felt about the hotel we enjoyed ourselves. It was pet friendly. There’s an easy inconvenient place to take your pets when they need to go out, the cleaning staff were also incredibly friendly and welcoming

The last time we stayed here when it first opened we gave it a five star review. We were hoping to give it another five stars but it fell short but not by much.
The COVID-19 virus has made it challenging for all hotels I’m sure. Just a few adjustments would make our experience better.
First, I agree with another reviewer that A...l at the front desk could do a better job. Not very friendly at all.
The CDC states rooms are done every five days. It turned out to be six because they count nights, not days. We were expecting our room to be done Saturday but it ended up being Sunday, a simple fix would be for the front desk to simply say, your room will be done on ....day.
Next, a handout explaining how towels, sheets garbage will be handled during the days in between would save us asking the front desk and/or the room servers for answers.
Next, the food line is well organized for breakfast with proper spacing however, if all you want is a coffee, you need to line up in the food line that can be quite long.
Last, there were lots of kids and dogs in the hotel. That’s fine but it would be better if one floor was dedicated to adults without pets. On our floor, we heard dogs barking particularly from one room where the owners would go out and just leave the dog. We heard lots of kids running in up the hallway sometimes accompanied be yelling. We could do without both.
All in all, I think the hotel tried to deal with the circumstances as best they could but these few suggestions would make it better.
