The master bedroom is gigantic, has a bathroom with a large shower and a separate room with a sink and large garden tub. The second bedroom is a good size with its own bathroom which links to the hallway. The third bedroom is a loft room with half walls, which is fine for us but be aware that it isn’t fully enclosed. The loft also has a daybed outside of that bedroom and a bathroom. There’s a pull out sofa in the living room, plenty of seating by the windows to enjoy the view and breeze, plenty of dining seating with the table and the counter for larger groups. Beds are okay, I didn’t expect amazingly comfortable beds. Water pressure is good, hot water may be limited in terms of filling the big garden tub in the morning but no issues in the evening.
The view from the balcony was lovely, especially for sunrise views-although there was a lot of fog most mornings we did still get a good sunrise. The balcony is a good size with 2 loungers, a 4 seat dining set, and 6 additional chairs. We couldn’t get all the windows open but the ones that we could and the two doors to the balcony definitely let in a lot of wind. Decor wise it’s pretty dated, but personally that’s of least concern. It was clean, comfortable, and spacious.
There is an elevator and carts to bring all your stuff up. Bring your own toilet paper, trash bags, and paper towels. They provided 2 packs of dishwasher detergent and a small bottle of dish soap but if you’re going to be doing a lot of cooking you should bring more. No laundry detergent was provided, should you need to do laundry.
As far as the beach, it’s February so it wasn’t crowded, temps in the high 60’s low 70’s and breezy. It’s been sunny and warm, the water is cold but not intolerable for us, I definitely wouldn’t be SWIMMING in it but walking out to hip deep water was okay on the warmer days, but we’re used to cold creeks and just escaped the snow and ice back home. We usually do beach vacations on the outer banks, so it was really nice to have nice, gentle waves and a long stretch of clear, shallow water for a change.
The air force base is very close, and I enjoyed watching the planes and helicopters. We’ve seen dolphins 1-2x every day. We got our (surprisingly) first jellyfish stings. It’s been fun.
Don’t forget your sunscreen.
But the best part about the Cabana Club is the location. It's right in the heart of Destin, which means it's close to plenty of restaurants (we got takeout from The Crab Trab and Pompano Joes and enjoyed an oceanfront table on the balcony of our condo), a short drive to the harbor for renting a pontoon boat, fishing, etc., but because the beach access is gated (acessed with a code), the beach is pristine and uncrowded, even in early June. There's a small pool next door at the Sea Oats motel, but our boys (ages 6, 9, and 9) never even went, because the beach is so spectacular just steps away, with none of the crowds that pack the beaches in front of the high rises. Every evening, my wife and I enjoyed sitting on the balcony enjoying a cocktail, listening to the sounds of the waves and watching the moonlight reflect on Gulf waters. We hope to come back again and again. Book the Cabana Club, and let the massses have the high rises. You'll be glad you did!
The fact that there are only 4 floors and its a small condo complex makes the beach out front less crowded which is a big plus for me as I hate being packed in like sardines like they are down at the public beach in front of The Crab Trap. There is never more than 10/15 families out front so there is plenty of room for everyone. During this trip there were about 5 families total.
FYI - due to it being the only place I really stay in Destin - I will try to review each different condo I stay in - so there may be multiple reviews from me over time such as 201 next month. I only give it a 4 star rating because it does not have its own pool.
We have stayed at these properties several times over the years, at Sea Oats as well as Cabana Club. We were very disappointed in the condition of unit 308.
Positives: The location is great and it is right on the beach. There is plenty of parking. The unit was clean. The bedroom furnishings are newer. The bathroom is large. It is a spacious corner unit.
Negatives: The living room furniture is in terrible shape. The sofa cushions sink down below the frame when sat on. It is unusable. The rug is extremely stained and unattractive. The curtains at the sliding glass door are ripped and very shabby. There are 2 sink/toilet areas, then a separate area with a very small, outdated, dingy shower. There is a jacuzzi tub that is also very dingy. This is disappointing as other units have updated bathrooms. Also there are only 5 towels for the whole week and no daily service. The kitchen has all major appliances but otherwise is very minimally stocked. Only very basic items. The coffee pot and blender (the only 2 small appliances) are old and dingy.
This could be a nice unit with a little effort. Given the price we paid, and fees on top of fees, we expected more.

The location is perfect; you are just outside the city limits of Destin, located on old Hwy 98. The beach is never “overcrowded” like other high rise hotels/condos. The office people are fantastic and they will do anything they can to make your stay perfect. This hotel/condo has been on the beach for a very long time – it’s a hidden gem. They may not have all the fancy pools, restaurants, gyms and such but they make it up with perfect location on a private beach area, super clean, friendly and very affordable. The Publix is down the street, plenty of local restaurants and other fun things to do. We prefer just “BEACH TIME” when we go and this is the perfect place!
What I did not care for was the incredibly firm bed. If you like sleeping on cement, that's how firm this bed was. Woke up aching everyday. An egg crate mattress topper will go a long way in helping with this - they run about $50 at the most. Slept on the couch mostly. Could really use some better patio furniture, the plastic dollar store chairs are not comfy. The table was nice though.
The only other thing was that the a/c was regulated - you could not adjust it to make it cooler. It would be 77 at night and that is too warm for me. Thankfully I brought a fan (which I usually just use for white noise). The lowest it would go in the heat of the day is 72. 70 would be more appropriate for day and at the very least 73 for the night. I am very hot natured and this was a big downside for me. Sweaty is not a good look for me. Which is why I only gave it 3 star rating. Its really about a 3 1/2 rating.
Otherwise it was a very nice condo. I would stay again, if they made the bed comfier and lowered the temperature a tad - especially at night.
Have I told you about the AWESOME shower?!

It was bigger than the condos that we are used to staying in, over in Gulf Shores and Orange beach. The price for it was less too.
Quiet, private beach, and very easy to get the beach--and within just a few minutes of restrunts.
Will be back again next year!
