The Ivey House was clean in a barracks sort of way. Front desk people were efficient but not overly friendly. The area set for breakfast reminded me of eating in a dining hall in the Army 50 years ago. The kayak tour was not worth the time or cost. The guide, Charles, was not very good, wasting a great deal...

Ivey House provided pleasant accommodations. Being able to get hot chocolate and coffee throughout the day was a treat. The staff helped us with our Everglade activities. Most notable with the kayak trip guided by Charles J. that began in the afternoon and returned after dark. His knowledge of nature coupled with his concern for safety made the trip among...

Dear Harry S: It's great to hear that you had a lovely stay here at the Ivey House and that Charles provided you with such a great experience on one of our EvergladesAdventures.com guided kayak trips! We're so fortunate to be able to bring folks out into the middle of the Everglades and "turn them on" to the amazing beauty...

We stayed for two days and would return again. Breakfast was very good for any pallet and they were very helpful. What we really loved was the early morning kayak tour with John in the Everglades. Don't miss it. Easy paddling producing terrific views and tons of information handed out. Much better than the very loud air boat tours. Our...

Dear Louandmike557: Thank you for sharing your experiences with us! We're happy that you enjoyed your stay at the Ivey House and that you had such a great time on your guided kayak tour with our guide John. You certainly did see a great variety of the local plant and wildlife on your tour... it's so amazing to go paddling...

Ivey house is the first place I've stayed since my student days (long gone) where the management felt it necessary to close off the office and dining room with a steel grate at night. Who do they think is staying here? And don't the other guests need similar protection? When I reported a slippery floor to one staff member, she...

Dear nancyjhackathens: First, we're very sorry to hear you received such a lackluster and uncaring response when you brought the slippery floor matter to from one of our staff. We've spoken to everyone on the front desk to make sure any such future reports will be quickly investigated and corrected. We've also addressed recommendations and have set up an area...

We recently canoed the Everglades from South to North and used Ivey House for everything (canoe, shuttle, water bottles, lodging). Big boss Ken picked us up at the Everglade city airport with a helping hand and a great attitude. Lisa was exceptional in helping to plan the trip and greeted us by name upon arrival. (It was even her day...

I do not know if there is better option for a hotel in this city. The city is the center of where you would explore the Everglades so this I thought was the best choice. It was described as a charming B&B but the place has no charm. We had a double room at $168 with private bath, tv, and...

We had room 21 and it almost spoiled the Everglades for us. One bed was slanted sideways, the other was lumpier than a Gator's back. A sleepless night ensued with a loud clunky fridge and air con that deafened as it was at pillow height. Aside from the awful room, breakfast was a bit off - but the hotel staff...

Dear NickyAndRob: We appreciate your feedback and are sorry you were unhappy in your room. We'd have been happy to relocate you to another room if we'd been aware of your dissatisfaction. Just stayed here with my family. Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. This review is not a knock on the Inn, just a bit of advice to vacationers new to the area. This place is probably the best of your options if you want to stay locally, but don't confuse the 4-5 ratings as indicative of a 4-5...
