A bit dated but that is expected at a budget motel. The staff is friendly and helpful. Everything about the room was fine. The breakfast is better than most but the addition of scrambled eggs would be nice. A view to the Gulf was a nice touch.

For the life of me I don't understand how people can stay at a 2 star hotel and expect the Ritz Carlton. Anyone doing a negative review of this property KNEW it was 2 stars when they made the reservation...you expected $400 a night amenities for $120? Grow up.

I have stayed here 3 times. I picked it for it's proximity to the fishing pier, which is almost walking distance from here. All this means I needed 2 things from the the room...cold AC and a clean bed after a day of fishing. The room provided both.

Can someone explain to me why it matters if the furniture is chipped, the carpet is worn, or the shampoo dispenser isn't in excellent operating condition? Don't most persons come to Florida with plans to be OUTSIDE?

Here's a suggestion for those who stay here and want SanDestin treatment...spend 4 times the money and spend ALL of your time inside admiring the furniture. In the meantime, the rest of us will be outside enjoying the sun and the good deal we found here.

We decided to come to Fort Walton for Spring break. When I booked this hotel I was very skeptical about it went online viewed pictures and read the review but still was unsure...but low and behold Emerald Coast Inn & Suites really surprised me. Great location beach right across the street from hotel. Didn't have to travel far from great eateries (The Shrimp Basket). The staff at Emerald I couldn't have asked for better. The pool was great and the room was just right, comfortable beds and plenty of parking and BEST of all the PRICE was GREAT!!!

Booked through hotels.com. Arrived late due to flight change. Arrival was 5 a.m. with a 2 night booking which would leave essentially leaving us with what be staying one night. Went into first room and smelled so badly of smoke we asked for a different room. Second room smelled very badly of mildew. Air conditioner actually had mold on it and covered in visible dust and dirt. Bathroom was so dirty that sealed the deal not to stay there. When we told the front desk about the second room, his answer was sorry we have the rooms cleaned and he wasn't the manager. Contacted hotels.com who inturn contacted the hotel. They would only refund one night and considered one night a cancellation fee.

No matter how much more you have to spend to stay somewhere else, it’s worth it!
Walking down the halls to the room feels like you’re in the projects! My socks were white when we got there and black in the 15 minutes or so it took me to get ready for bed. My 6 year old said she thought she still had sand on her feet because it felt “hard” against the sheets. The sheets are just that rough.
If we ever come back to this town, we will definitely be staying someplace else!

This hotel is conveniently located. It was updated with modern decor.

This hotel is filthy! The rooms were halfway cleaned and the beds had crumbs and stains all over them. There was a problem with a lack of staff. The front desk attendant left the office building to visit the rooms. I can understand them being short staffed because the whole area was short staffed. No on wants to work which is no fault of theirs. The staff they did have weren't friendly. The view from our room was of a strip club and a junky parking lot

We came to Destin a day early and couldn’t get a room at our original place, so I paid the outrageous price! and even at a cheaper price this place is not worth it! Dirty bathroom, sand on floors, worried the elevator wasn’t going to make. We used the stairs from then on.. just an over all dirty run down feel of the place. Thank goodness it was for only one day...

My husband and three other couples booked two double rooms at this hotel nearly four months in advance of our stay. When we arrived in Destin, we called to see if we could check in early, but they were full. We told Patrick, the person on the phone, that we would be unable to check in until the evening as we had a boating trip planned for the day.

We arrived at 7:45 p.m. The incredibly rude front desk clerk refused to speak to anyone but my husband. She then informed us that she had given away one of our rooms due to our failure to check-in at three o'clock. She claimed that she had called my husband's phone, but despite his having normal service for the entire day, he had never received a call from her. She insisted that we take the one room left, despite the fact that we had EIGHT people for two queen beds. When we refused, she charged us for the room.

We spent the next two hours looking for a hotel anywhere between Destin and Gulf Breeze. We had to cancel our dinner plans, and by the time we checked into rooms that were $200/night more, it was too late to salvage the evening.

The owner, Bobby Patel, was contacted and refused to be of any assistance whatsoever.

I would first like to appologize for any inconvenience we may have caused yourself and your group... At our hotel along with most all other hotels a guaranteed reservation is only valid when the credit card that is given authorizes on the day of arrival. In this instance this did not happen therefore we were put in a predicament where we had to choose whether to release the reservation or contact the phone number given at the time of the reservation. So we attempted to call the number on file twice and left two messages stating we are holding the room on a courtesy hold for 30mins and need a call back from yourselves with a form of payment. Unfortunately the hotel was at full occupancy with the exception of this room. We waited 1 hour and 30 mins before releasing this room to another guest. Again i would like to apologize on behalf of the hotel. Bobby

Compared to nearby hotels, you can stay here for less. So, what's the tradeoff? Compared to the more expensive hotels:
- lobby doesn't look as fancy and modern
- room, however, is clean and comfortable - - very nice room
- to get to the beach you have to either drive 1 minute (there's plenty of parking at the beach) or walk 6 minutes. Anyway the hotel isn't right on the beach
- wiFi is intermittent
- breakfast is okay, and includes hardboiled eggs for those of us who must have some protein in the morning. but there's no butter for your toast, just Squeeze Parkay.

This is an older 5 story hotel right across the street from the beach. It is going to be less expensive than those right on the beach of course. It is worth every penny you will pay.
The owners are really fixing up the place, when I was there the lobby was undergoing renovation. All the rooms have been redecorated and updated.

They have the usual free continental breakfast.

Good pool, nice place to relax.

I highly recommend this for those of us that do not what to pay for added luxury that you may not want or use or need.

The owners are very nice and very accommodating.

This hotel is located across front the boardwalk. Does not have access to the beach, unless you walk a few blocks down. I would recommend a rental car if you want to enjoy the Destin beaches, or Aleve least a rental bike if you want to explore the near by beaches in Fort Walton.

Yes, you need a credit card to make a reservation. But you won't be charged until check out. This hotel also honors discount programs such as AARP and AAA, discounts applied at check out.
