Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Playa Largo Resort & Spa, Autograph Collection, is often celebrated for its pristine cleanliness, with guests regularly commending the neatness of rooms and public areas. While the resort's amenities, including the pool and beach access, are generally appreciated, there are mentions of occasional cleanliness oversights and queries regarding resort fee inclusions. Service is predominantly praised for its amicability, although some guests have experienced lapses in promptness.
Despite its idyllic location, which is frequently lauded, especially for family trips and events, the value proposition is questioned by many who find the fees steep relative to the offerings. Room conditions have received mixed feedback, with some guests pointing out maintenance issues, while others enjoy the spaciousness. The vibrant atmosphere, complete with live music, is a highlight, although opinions on the ambiance can vary, with noise levels being a potential concern for some.

The rooms need a little upkeep.
The fan was covered in dust. They really need a painter on staff to go and touch up the rooms that have marks on walls, doors, or chunks taken out of doors.
There is also mold in the bathroom which it's by the ocean..but they need to take care of it sooner rather than later.
We asked a few times about the eventide options and the concierge nor the bar where they told us you book could tell us what, where, or how to actually book. They need staff on the beach area to take orders from people and also keep track of when people get up and leave to disinfect for the next person.Everyone comes and leaves towels all day and you don't know if they are taken or if they just haven't been picked up from the prior day (?) If you don't go out by 830 am you're not going to get a chair...beach or pool.We tried breakfast 3 days and each day was 25+ min wait. We went to Sol (on site restaurant) on night and waited 20 mins for our order to be taken and another 25 mins for 2 drinks and a piece of cake. We didn't go back again. We had to call for toilet paper 2x before we actually got it. The staff was complaining a lot when we sat on our porch about how their supervisor for cleaning the rooms was jumping all over them and not letting them even talk or explain. Not really things you want to have to listen to when you're paying this kind of money to stay somewhere.
I will day the view of the ocean was great. the private beach was nice until people started taking over even the space between chairs . the drinks were about double what we paid for drinks out at restaurants so you're better off going out to eat and drink. they need better sound proofing. we wake up multiple times in the night with noise from neighbors or above us.
there is a mini fridge however ours did not work bc someone left it open and it had a giant ice block. we unplugged it to let that melt and then replugged it in ... it never got cold cold again.

We just returned from four nights at Playa Largo. I’ll start by saying it’s a great place and is a good choice for families, couples, or a girls trip. I would definitely go back. We loved it.
The positives: great location (beautiful), surrounded by water, easy to get to and a ton to do. You have the beautiful water (with folks just floating all day), fishing, bikes, hot tub, ping pong, warm pool. Guests are all really friendly and everyone chats with one another. The staff is so friendly. We especially loved Jason at los olas who helped my son to have a great trip as we went to the bar several times for sushi and ceviches and he made him special drinks! The rooms are spacious with plenty of room to put your stuff. We also did several water sports right at the hotel which were amazing and so convenient!!!! Also loved the food at Sol. And the s’mores every night was so much fun...everyone watching the sunset!
Some opportunities: considering the price point (we booked cheapest room with breakfast and it was $650 a night all in)- there should be turn down service, consistent housekeeping, better linens, and front desk staff trained a bit better). I prefer to not have people bring you towels to your chair, but if you want that, it’s not available. We had a number of issues with check in and it took a little to remedy and they then gave us a lot to make up for it (private fire pit w wine and cheese). The front office manager and concierges were so nice (thx elena!) A lot of folks are there on points, so some of my comments above wouldn’t resonate).
Thanks again playa largo!!!

To be clear, this is the Florida Keys and you have to understand that the standards you might expect in other parts of the country have to be adjusted. It is a very nice hotel and we visit often (this past trip was our 5th) but service issues can be frustrating if you are not prepared for the more laid back / island time that you find in the keys. A few highlights, 1) as a new hotel, the property is modern, clean and well maintained 2) the grounds are fantastic and the property has one of the best beaches (man made) in the keys 3) the location is great and is located just minutes from numerous world class snorkeling, diving and fishing sites 4) the property has a dock with space to bring your boat which can be an important consideration for some.
The main issues that I have found with the hotel tend to revolve around food and beverage. Although I generally find Sol by the Sea to be a beautiful outdoor restaurant, it is the only dining option for dinner which can be a problem due to its small size and as an outdoor restaurant, it can be extremely hot. La Marea is only open for breakfast (which I have heard is about to change which would be a positive based on my notes about Sol by the Sea) and Las Olas which is a pretty bar off the lobby has been closed temporarily due to Covid. Poolside bar and food service tends to be slow and the Sand Bars hours are drastically reduced and closes far too early due to reduced Covid hours. I also have an issue with the onsite water sports charging for kayak and paddle board rentals when the hotel charges a recreational fee.
Overall, despite my criticisms, the positives far outweigh the negatives and we will return again. I would be remiss if I did not mention that during this past stay, Dana Motta turned what could have been a negative experience with our room being ready late and it's location into a positive and from that moment on for the balance of our trip, Dana was there to see how we were enjoying our stay. She truly handled our situation like a pro.

We’ve stayed here several times and I believe they were just not ready to open up again. From the start they gave away our suite upgrade. There wasn’t full room service so the trash piled up quickly. We had to take out our own trash and the rooms were not stocked with extra toiletries/toilet paper/towels so we had to ask for these items on a daily basis and the dirty towels just piled in our room. The shower door was broken and the shower water was scalding hot. The bathrooms weren’t open in the gym so was told to use the spa one. Well the lady running the spa wasn’t thrilled. The servers were all kind and really were put in a situation they couldn’t help. Sometimes we sat waiting for our food for over an hour. Sometimes sat at tables that were dirty. Requested someone to wipe it down and no one ever came. I went and got towels from the bathroom with soap and did it myself. The seafood pasta is supposed to have lobster and crab and only had shrimp. We are paying a lot of money to sanitize things ourselves, find ways to dispose of trash, get our own room items to stock up. Really debating whether we want to stay here again ever.

My wife and I few in from Westchester and spent 5 nights. We Platinum Elite members of Bonvoy and accepted the rating in blind faith.
On arrival you will be greeted by very friendly staff in a clean beautiful lobby. The grounds are tropical and clean with a wonderful view of the Bay on the Gulf of Mexico.
We had stayed one of the bungalows which was well appointed however the dishwasher was not screwed in and when we opened the door it came crashing forward. Although there is no direct sunlight or any view other than the bungalow next door it is very tranquil. Housekeeping comes every day however they just straighten things rather than clean an refresh. The carpeting is absolutely filthy you need to walk around in slippers.
One romantic idea is that they celebrate the sunset everyday with a bond fire smoors and tropical drinks which was very nice however the House band that plays for the hour obnoxiously loud and they attempt to replicate spring break at Daytona Beach! It is a shame because the sunsets are spectacular. The beach advertised is not a beach. It is a sandy portion of the lawn before the concrete steps into the bay which is under 5 feet deep. There are no crashing waves or surf or long walks hunting for shells.
The Pool and grounds are very clean and nice however all the lounge chairs are stained an dirty possibly because they are white. To keep the ground so nice the drawback is that over the din or the constant music from hidden speakers you hear the grinding of leaf blowers all day. The two restaurants on the property are mediocre and overpriced however they are the only place in key largo the get food other than fried conch fritters.
We are admittedly an active couple. The two tennis courts are not properly maintained an only one of them was playable. There are no organized tennis activity and no pro to hit with. They do have sailboats for rent but we did no go as we have one at home.
As far as going off property goes the only things with in driving distance are shell shops and Tshirt shacks. We did take a drive to Key West and it is a FULL 2 Hour drive.
As I said we flew down from net tour to get out of the snow and rain. And we did. But we are not planning to come back.
P.S. all the staff are very friendly opening doors greeting you offering to assist in any way.

I spent a weekend at Playa Largo on my way back to Key West and was looking forward to my stay at this Autograph Collection hotel. As a lifetime Marriott Platinum member, I've spent a lot of time at their brands and look forward to the uniqueness that Autograph properties bring. Unfortunately, this property could have been better.
Let me start with the good parts first. In general, the property is nice. The grounds are well-kept, it's clean (exceptions to be noted in a bit) and has beautiful views of the gulf. Our king room was very generous in size, with enough room for a small couch / seating area. Bathrooms are beautiful and nicely appointed with Molton Brown products and Nespresso coffee makers. A modern audio/video system made it easy to pull up Netflix while lying in bed. Altogether, the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was also very good at the main restaurant, where the "cheaper" continental-style breakfast came with a massive amount of delicious food, accompanied by attentive service.
But when staying at a resort. the room is the last place you want to be stuck and, unfortunately, the pool and beach area was dirty and chaotic. There was no chairs available either day around the pool or beach and the scene was very, very busy. I'll quote another reviewer in that it looked like one of those "crazy COVID party pools" on the news with adults and children all over the place. This was most certainly not a relaxing environment.
Most importantly the pool area was filthy. Lots of used cups, cans, straws, and buckets were laying all over the edge of the pool and they were left there for hours at a time. Towels were thrown all over the place and it was impossible to tell if a chair had been abandoned or not. Lounge chairs were moved all over the place, especially on the beach.
Employees kept stating that they were "incredibly busy", which I didn't really understand given that it was a pandemic. They clearly did not have the staff or seating capacity to keep up.
The bar by the pool doesn't allow service at the bar due to COVID, so we were told to take a seat at a lounge chair or table to get a drink. Unfortunately, there were no lounge chairs or tables. After 10 mins of trying to find a seat where we could be serviced, we just asked a staff member if we could just stand there until they served us. They reluctantly said yes.
The second day, we were short on clean towels, as they only provide 3 bath towels in a king room. We called for fresh towels were told, again, that "things were very busy", so it would take a while. After 40 minutes, the towels had not arrived and we left the room.
I understand that these are difficult times for hotels, but Playa Largo missed the mark, especially compared with other 4 and 5 star hotels that I've stayed at during the pandemic (JW Marriott Marco Island, Ritz Carlton Naples, The Breakers Palm Beach).

We stayed five nights at this hotel. The property itself is nice, beach area is okay and large pool. Staff was mostly friendly and helpful.
The hotel has flags on the beach chairs, signs up that state if the flag is up, the chair has been cleaned. On multiple occasions we watched the hotel staff raise the flags on all the empty beach chairs and zero cleaning was done.
The beach and pool area was constantly a mess, towels, dishes and trash everywhere. Most of the time there was no beach towels available. When there were towels, sometimes one of us could get them for the 4 of us, other times they would require each one of us to go by and get our own.
Resort fee of $40 per night, most of the items included in this are not happening right now due to Covid, such as valet parking, even though other Marriotts in south Florida are valet only. The hotel easily could reduce or remove this fee u til those services are resumed, just a thought.
No housekeeping, as expected. Staff is not consistent on if towels would be left at the door, in the bathroom, or one one occasion they were on the bed.
Positive, the restaurant staff was great. My wife would get breakfast for two, they would box and bag it up for her to take back to the room. Super friendly and helpful staff at the restaurant.

Live in Fort Lauderdale and wanted to getaway for a few days this summer. I stumbled upon this gem of a property on my Marriot Bonvoy app and off we went! From the minute you walk in you get such a great vibe from the lobby, the smell was so welcoming and refreshing almost like walking into your favorite spa! Vwery kind staff that are willing to go the extra mile for you as soon as you get there, almost makes you want to stay for longer then originally planned. Originally we wanted to be close enough to drive to a secluded beach for the day, but that never happened fortunately. the rooms gave off that perfect beach vibe! First stop was to the bar outside just past the pool area to get a quick drink to plan out the day where we quickly discovered the most perfect piece of the ocean to relax in. Ferman, our helpful mixologist, made sure we stayed hydrated as we soaked up the sun past sunset. He recommended local restaurants to go to and even the ones we shouldn't go to (he was right) which we found out the hard way the next day. We had such a great time and couldn't have done it without him. Thanks for making us feel right at home, Furman! Overall this ranks up there with one of the best day trips ever.
Next time we'll try out their private bungalows with a larger group for a longer stay.
Only negative was the breakfast at the restaurant. It seemed to be the the only option and since we had such a good time the entire day before we wanted to not venture off property. The menu was pretty bland and way over priced so we just ordered an espresso and a cappuchino....$7 EACH!! + auto gratuity which came out to $17 and change. Completely ridiculous and the only reason I wouldn't give it a 5 star honestly. Besides that, go check this place out!

So after a couple of days at the J.W. Marco Island I decided to venture on down to the Florida Keys. Let me just tell you that Playa Largo is magnificent! They currently have two restaurants that are open along with the sand bar. The rooms have stickers indicating that they have been sanitized and inspected. The room key is a small disk with a QRCode that allows you to see what services are available. The hotel is simply beautiful and the service from the staff was impressive. I was also appreciative of the Molton Brown shampoo and conditioner. I usually travel with my own Molton Brown products so I was happy to add these treats to my collection. You can rent jet skis or kayaks on the property. There is also a really fun sea animal experience available from Theater of the Sea in nearby Islamorada. Playa Largo offers a fantastic sunset experience where they serve drinks and have you write down your worries before sending them off in fiery glory. It has been many moons since I have imbibed from a pineapple 🤣🤣. I simply cannot articulate how how wonderful this property is.

My family and I have stayed here 3 times in the last 2 years. We fell in love with the Keys in Dec2018 and were excited to stay on this property.
Just last week we stayed one night (2 rooms) and it was a disaster. Our rooms were not ready (per usual at this location) but we enjoyed the property while we waited. We found the wait staff to be disinterested in serving us despite paying $13/drink + 18% service charge. We stored our bags at the valet and I gave the gentleman a good tip to bring the 5 bags to our room. Seeing that he was busy, I told him to get it to us in the next hour or so. This never happened, he left for the day and never delivered the bags. I had to go back up to valet and carry them all myself across the property to our rooms. Additionally, when we got the keys to our rooms and asked for sheets for our pullout bed it took me visiting the front desk 2 times in person and calling at 9:30pm to get action.
I repeatedly told the staff that I am a Marriott platinum member to garner some influence with no avail.
Overall, very disappointed in the service here. The club lounge was undersupplied and dirty also. Also, I left a message for a manager to reach out to me a few days ago before giving this feedback. I have yet to receive that call.

One of them does. The fancier one that is on the beach. The others are walk in but usually very crowded so it wouldn’t hurt to make a reservation
Hi;
I do not believe so, however many guests do anyway to save the cost of high priced drinks. I have never seen anyone stopped for this.
The water in Key Largo is beautiful. Various shades of blue depending on the day.
