So nice! The building is situated so the rooms overlook the pool/beach/water, and it's such a beautiful vacation vibe. The hotel is only a couple of years old, so everything is still fresh, clean, and nice. Bar and restaurant are in the pool area, as is a turf area with a pool table and giant chess set. Hot tub is also quite nice. Pool is salt water and very comfortable (maybe mid- low '80s for temp).

My wife and I were here on an anniversary vacation, but lots of families here, too. Really broad mix of people, from young couples, to old couples, to young families. And a couple of dogs, too. Tons of Europeans from several different countries (I think Americans were outnumbered, at least while we were here). The entire facility, including outdoor balconies, are smoke-free.

The Capitana is our go-to hotel in Key West. Indoors and out the Capitana has done everything right — from the layout of everything, to the amenities, to the furniture in the rooms themselves. They truly maximized both the indoor and outdoor spaces. I enjoy the hotel’s size plus modern design — it’s romantic and perfect for couples. You have everything you need in the rooms: microwave, mini fridge, comfortable beds, nice showers, dining table and sofas in some — the decor is beautiful and well thought out too. In the “backyard” — which is on a bay — you have a hot tub, pool, pool table, hammocks, loungers, bar/dining, sand and loungers. You aren’t going to swim in the ocean here but I wouldn’t anyway. It’s a beautiful spot and we will keep coming back.
ALSO the breakfasts are great and not your typical hotel basic fare. They have bottled water at hydration stations throughout and this is huge. It’s so annoying to go to hotels and be given one bottle of water or, worse, none at all. They have umbrellas in the rooms in case it rains… it’s these touches that make things more comfortable and therefore enjoyable.

We had a fantastic time staying at the Capitana, the room was clean and comfortable, nice amount of space and nice being able to utilize streaming services on the tv when getting ready or going to bed. Our view of the sea and pool was totally gorgeous. The beach area is very nice, we spent most of our trip hanging out there with our dog who had so much fun being able to play in the sand. The poolside bar was easy to get a drink at and the drinks were very good. The area was nice and quiet and having plenty of parking at the hotel was really nice. Only at most a 15 minute drive to anywhere else on Key West. Having complimentary water bottles on every floor is a very nice touch and we loved the birthday package with all the balloons and drink bucket. The breakfast good, nothing too fancy, would be nice if it was extended an extra hour as on vacation we do like to sleep in a little bit. We would absolutely stay here again if we came back to key west, don’t let the lunatics complaining about the use of plastic plates, utensils, and bottles turn you off. If I had to state any complaints I would say the $100 a night pet fee is a little steep and breakfast ending at 10, would be better if it were open until 11.

Stayed in early October 2024, in between the hurricanes. Resort was in great condition. Beds are very comfortable, continental breakfast was hot and fresh daily with a variety of options. Pool, hot tub, and Tiki Bar were all very clean and clearly well taken care of. Front desk staff was amazing. Location, while not on Duval St, is not a long Uber ride (10 min or less) to Old Town/Duval St. Would highly recommend staying here.

Let me start by saying this hotel is not in Old Key West, but it is only minutes away (The Ubers/Lyfts in Key West come immediately if not sooner & are only 10-15 bucks) from the hustle and bustle of the cruise port, Duvall Street & The Southernmost Point tourist area. That, actually, was a feature. There is a very small, but cute, man made beach with loungers and cabanas, a small water sport rental shack, a very nice hot tub, a beautiful, but shallow pool, plenty of loungers around the pool, a grasser area with a pool table, oversized chess board, & volleyball net/ball, along with a pool bar that rounds out the outside area. The rooms all have balconies facing northeast (Great for full moon rise!) and all have views of the gulf. The king sized bed was comfortable, the shower & bathroom was spacious, with my only complaint is not enough water pressure(The handheld shower was better than the rain fall one just FYI) The room itself was big & came with a mini fridge, microwave, table & chairs & lots of dresser space. On each floor was a cubby hole called hydration station with a fridge stocked with plastic bottles of water & a freezer drawer full of ice bags.
Breakfast is included. It's buffet, with a variety of hot dishes that changed daily, usually pancakes, waffles, sausages, bacon, scrambled or hard boiled eggs, as well as toaster items, cereal, cream cheese, fruit & refrigerated items like juices & yogurt.
The staff is really what made this place special, with high marks for people like Susan, who greeted us with a smile each day & was very attentive with pool drinks, Aaron, the F&B director, Erin, the bartender (I wish I had gotten ALL the bartenders/pool servers names because they were ALL great) everyone at the front desk & especially the room attendants who worked diligently cleaning every inch of the entire resort.
All in all it was a pleasure having such a comfortable vacation at this lovely resort.
Side note, the airport is less than ten minutes away. We chose not to rent a car, but there's a huge free parking lot right in front of the hotel. Ubers were there as soon as you hit ok, we even chose to take the less expensive longer wait time ones and the longest we ever wait was 50 seconds. I am not kidding.
If you want a clean comfortable hotel that is away from the crowded downtown, but close enough to walk (About twenty minutes each time we did it) choose this luxurious spot.

The hotel is pretty and new. The pool bar/waitress staff is great! Susan and Mike were an absolute pleasure! Very friendly and accommodating. They both redeemed this stay for us. The front desk staff is horrible! They don’t greet you when you enter or exit, not a good morning, welcome home, hello or goodbye. They are extremely unfriendly. My husband called the hotel prior to arriving to have chocolate covered strawberries and champagne in our room as it was my 50th birthday. They wanted to charge the room, my husband asked if he can put it on a different card as it was my card used to book and he didn’t want me to find out. The front desk person said that would be fine, but she couldn’t take it at the time. She said it was noted. So my husband just assumed it would have been done and waiting in the room at check in. When we got to our room, there was nothing there. He called the front desk and asked what happened and her response was was “ you can’t expect us to do that for free” nobody was asking for a freebie, he was more than willing to pay for it. She also confirmed it was noted. Instead of being rude, why not just apologize for the mishap? Our friends stayed at The Perry Hotel and marina and it was beautiful. Infused water in the lobby, scent air, lobby bar and a great restaurant. The front desk team greeted you when walking in and out and was pressed and polished. The room I booked had a picture of a small sectional in it, I called the hotel to confirm there would be a sofa and was told there would be and there wasn’t at check in and was told there was nothing they could do. The front desk team needs to be trained by Mike/Susan and the other employees working at the bar/pool.

This was the cleanest hotel I've stayed in for quite a while. Someone was always cleaning something all the time, whether it was wiping down, sweeping, mopping, etc. Service in the rooms was amazing. The staff is extremely accommodating. Daily breakfast (included) was decent with waffles, pancakes, and eggs with usually breakfast meat like sausage or bacon. No shortage of cereals and oatmeal as well as bagels and cream cheese. There was music at the pool every day and service there was incredible. Everything we ate from the Tiki bar was really, really good. Some people brought their own speakers to the pool for a couple of days, which was really obnoxious, but that is no fault of the hotel. We used an Uber to get downtown to Duval St. which cost us about $15 with tip one way. We walked it once but it was so hot that we Uber'd the rest of the time. There is a small beach here, but you can't really get in the water because of a sea wall. Not a dealbreaker for us, but may be for someone else. There are a couple of dining options within walking distance but not many. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return.

I've been visiting Key West for some time. Decided to give this property a try. In Clearwater FL we have a sister property run by Opal. Hotel is in fantastic shape, I've researched and stayed at a handful of hotels on Key West and this is by far the best. Key West as a whole has a lot of older hotels that are refurbished but don't quite meet standards. While the price for this hotel may be a bit high initially, there is self parking which is free, the room has a great feel to it. Resort fees cover more than just your average fees. The room even having a pool view is quiet enough. Room had 2 bottles of water upon arrival and for the standard Florida weather a complimentary umbrella! I really wish the Opal brand was part of a larger chain to benefit from points perks as I do partake in loyalty programs. However overall great stay. Definitely recommend this property and will most likely choose this one again on future stays!

Our 2 bedroom villa had a canal view from the back patio and also a hot tub. There was a boat (not sure who it belonged to) on a dock right outside our room. The canal is nice to walk along, but not a selling point in our view. There were several downsides to the villas (especially being overcharged for grocery items and getting a huge bill at checkout). It is spacious to have a 2-bedroom but only 1 of them has an en suite bathroom, the other is in the hallway and accessible by all so whomever stays in that room without the en suite has to trapse past the kitchen to go to the bathroom.

There were always more than enough chairs around the pool. As far as loud music being heard up to the room, we were on the 2nd floor and when our balcony door was open, you could hear music, but it wasn't loud. When the door was closed, I couldn't hear anything from the pool area.
There are more places to choose from in the Key West area.
