Detailed Reviews
This is our 4th stay at Orchid Key and each time gets better! We felt very safe as they have very effective COVID measures in place to make sure all guests are safe, yet feel comfortable. They have gone out of their way to keep things (breakfast, bar, and all other services) available for the guests, while still maintaining safety protocols. From the warm welcome we received form the Assistant Manager, Peter, who met us (as he always does) the minute we check in, to make sure our check-in was quick and painless. As in each of our visits the service is incredible. Each morning began with the incredible ladies that prepared and served our breakfast, which is amazing to our afternoons and evenings being totally relaxing thanks to Alex, Chris and Scott, the bartenders. Our rooms were cleaned and daily by a group of very hard working ladies who insured our every need was met.
The Orchid Key's location on Duval makes it ideal to go to Mallory Square or the Southern end of the island, we never rent a car as everything is really within walking distance.
The manager Trudy, Peter, the Assistant Manager, and the entire staff at the Orchid Key provide the most relaxing atmosphere anywhere on Key West and we have stayed on each end of the island and at several places off Duval. Their standard of service gets better every time we stay, and that's not something easy to do, especially in a pandemic, but they have managed to raise the bar of serviced every time we stay, and it was very high the first time we stayed!
Nothing beats, or even compares to the Orchid Key, on Key West. Going back in September for another Week! I'd recommend them to anyone!
Thanks so much Orchid Key.

We’ve been to Key West quite a few times & have stayed in brand name hotels, boutique hotels and bed & breakfasts, but Orchid Key Inn was the best stay we’ve experienced. Front desk staff Stacey, Peter & Tippi, as well as hotel manager, Trudy are amazing. They are so friendly and are always there to help. They truly make you feel like family. Due to COVID-19 affecting our travel plans, we were able to extend our stay for a couple of days. Thanks to Stacey’s help, we were able to stay in the same room.
They provide a really nice breakfast buffet which offers bagels, toaster waffles, pastries, donuts, fruits, yogurt, various meats & cheese. There’s also a happy hour from 5:00 - 7:00 with snacks. Bartenders Alex & Terry are awesome, as well as Janae who seems to be in charge of breakfast along with some other wonderful staff. EVERYONE at this property is always doing something to pitch in and help. Housekeeper Dellanira was the best!! They seemed to start cleaning rooms around 9:00 and ours was always done by 9:30. She always did an awesome job. They also do nightly turndown with a piece of chocolate on the bed.
Property looks like an older motel with 20+ rooms, but don’t let the look fool you! We had a one bedroom king suite which was very spacious. Modern bathroom with an excellent shower & very nice amenities by ROAM (bar soap, shower gel, shampoo/conditioner & body lotion). It has a beautiful pool with a bar, Orchid Bar, that opens at noon. Grounds are immaculate and there are orchids everywhere! It’s very quiet given the proximity to Duval Street.
We ran into many repeat guests while there and I know that we will become one of those repeat guests as well. Thank you to all for making our stay an excellent one!!

Wanted to escape the madness of the last 7 months and planned a much needed getaway to Key West. We chose to stay at the Orchid Key Inn, the perfect place for a romantic getaway. We stayed in the two room king suite and were quite pleased with the cleanliness and precautions taken during the pandemic, including disinfectant wipes and a welcome bag full of beach towels. Tippi at the front desk was so fun!! She helped arrange dinner reservations and an e-car rental, and took time to check on us to see if we needed anything else during our stay. Complimentary breakfast and happy hour drinks poolside were also a nice touch. I would highly recommend the Orchid Key Inn for a couples get away to Key West.

Spring break visit to Key West and our first trip! This was the perfect location to see it all. We parked our car and forgot it during our stay, walked everywhere and had bikes for a day as well.
We had a King bedroom suite with a pullout sofa for our teenager. The room was spacious and clean with a beautiful bathroom and large shower, no tub. The hotel has a small but lovely pool and a nice bar that also serves as the breakfast area in the AM. I was impressed with their COVID safety during breakfast and masks were required on property but not if you’re sitting by the pool.
Staff is friendly and despite being right on Duval street there is no noise! Happy hour daily gives you snacks and one free beer/wine or soda per adult daily. There is no resort fee!
My only complaint is no housekeeping due to COVID. Just request clean towels and put out your trash bags. If you’re not in the room, I’m not sure why housekeeping can’t come in and put towels and make beds?
Overall this is a lovey boutique hotel that is close to the action on Duval street. I would happily stay here again!

Most rooms are located steps away from the pool. Our room was meticulously cleaned every day. The bed and bedding were excellent. There was a wonderful, continental breakfast that had too many items to recall, including coffee, juice, pastries, waffles, hard boiled eggs, meat and cheese slices and fresh fruit. White tablecloths were placed on the tables in the courtyard around the pool every morning. The breakfast room served as a bar where alcoholic beverages could be purchased. COVID guidelines were strictly followed. Only two were allowed in the food/beverage area at a time and the attendant was the only one who touched the food and drink. This little gem is centrally located on Duval, which is the Main Street. We had a car but we walked to most places. They have a hop on hop off bus if you can’t or don’t want to walk. We definitely will return before the end of the year.

Just spent our 7th week at the Orchid Key Inn in the last 10 years! It's without a doubt the best Hotel in Key West, hands down. We've stayed at several other Key West hotels over the past 10 years and none of them compare to the Orchid Key in Price, Service, location, amenities, quietness, and the incredible staff that goes out of its way to make sure your stay is the best it can be. Trudy the manager, Peter her assistant manager, do everything from the booking till you check out to make sure your stay is memorable! The folks at the front desk, Kat, Dasha, and Rodolfo, always greet you with a smile and are constantly making sure that the entire complex is spotless and you have everything you need for a great stay. The bartenders: Alex, Chris, and Rose make the bar side pool the place to be, and provide amazing cocktails and beverages, to relax around the pool during the day and in the evening. Your mornings begin with a continental breakfast that is out of this world! The lady who makes that happen, Janai, is amazing. She makes sure everything in this amazing "spread of food" is fresh, there's never a empty coffee pot, and you leave ready to hit Duval Street and the rest of Key West for the morning. The Rooms at this beautiful hotel are spotless! They go over the top to insure each rooms cleanliness, and take care of any needs you have immediately. The house keeping staff is one of the best I've ever experienced, any where in the world! We're booked again in October and next April again. One suggestion is to book early. You will not be disappointed. I promise you! Thanks again to Trudy, Peter and the entire staff for another amazing stay in paradise

This is a small boutique hotel located off the middle of Duval Street. We stayed in a 1 BR suite which was very comfortable, had a living room with microwave and fridge. The hotel has a upscale “old-Florida” vibe, but I would not say it is overly luxurious. The staff are super friendly and helpful; they helped with dinner reservations, our food walking tour, and a kayak/snorkel day trip. Free breakfast is put together to order by the staff-bagels, pastries, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fruit. Happy hour and full bar are on site. The rooms mostly surround the pool, which is nice for a dip and for socializing. WIfi is free; parking is $15/day; there is one spot for EV charging. Location is perfect; even though you are right off Duval street you don’t really hear anything. Everything is a short walk away, you don’t need a car. Hemingway House and the Lighthouse are a 2 minute walk; 5 min to southernmost point. Really enjoyed this hotel and Key West while the cruise ships aren’t there.

The Orchid Key Inn is a good enough place to stay in Key West, but we were far from overwhelmed. Many of the previous reviews capture the good and some of the less good. For us, I guess we just were expecting more based on the reviews and the fact that it’s able to charge such a high daily rate (over $500). We stay every year at a very upscale boutique hotel in Paris and pay 40-50 percent less. Some of my review may be nitpicking, but at that rate, the hotel should be really special and it wasn’t.
First off though, the staff was wonderful. The hotel was clean and well cared for. But here goes….
The room, while nice enough, was really small without enough space for a chair (a stool under a counter sufficed). Our room faced the pool, but many others faced onto the drive and parking areas. Although the weather was pleasant with a nice breeze when we there, the window seem to be sealed shut, and you probably wouldn’t want to open in any case.
Before coming, we called and asked if the bed had down pillows. “ No", they said, put they would put a note in our record and provide “feather” pillows. They did, but these feather pillows were from some old hen, heavy and lumpy and offering little improvement from the standard foam. The mattress was at least 12” tall and the bottom sheet wasn’t fitted and only tucked in an inch or two... it would pull loose and become a crumpled mess during the night.
The bathroom was ok but lacked any hooks or towel bars. There was no place to hang a wet towel or bathing suit. During our six nights, the soap bars were never replaced, becoming just a sliver of soap by the time we left. But most surprising, we were informed when we checked in, that there would be no daily housekeeping except on request. Perhaps a Covid measure, perhaps not. In any case, it meant that each morning, my wife had to go to the office and ask for the room to be made up. That was always done without any problem, but seems weird that in such an upscale place, we had to ask.
Lastly, while the self-serve breakfast bar had a wide variety of choices ranging from Ciobani yogurt, to bagels, to English muffins, to hard boiled eggs; it just lacked feeling special. We would have liked milk or cream for our coffee in a pitcher instead of a little capsule like you’d have on an airliner. We would have liked some fresh baked croissants, muffins, or artisan bread….not sliced white bread from the supermarket and some pedestrian little muffins in saran wrap.
To tell the truth, we didn’t love Key West in general. But if we did go back, we would find somewhere else to stay.

Our modern room was small but presented to a very high standard ( I always enjoy a bathrobe for example) The a/c was spectacularly efficient and almost silent. We could have done with a chair, otherwise the room was faultless.
The staff were very supportive and more like friends. The intimate (small) bar and provision for breakfast was just delightful - it would be easy to have a great party there.
I would like to end the review here, BUT I must comment on the cost - delightful though the Orchid is, a similar (but not the same) experience can be found in Key West at half the price we paid ($600/night+). If price is not a factor, then the Orchid
will be a very happy experience.

The hotel was very clean and modern, and the pool and bar area were perfect to hang out and cool off after a day of melting in the Key West heat. The staff was phenomenal, especially Kat at the front desk. The location is perfect, close to many restaurants and the buoy, far enough from the main drag to be out of the noise, and very walkable to get there. The only thing that may have made our trip better was the use of some straps to hold the mattress cover on, we would wake up every morning and have to rebuild the bed clothes. Cleaning service was by request only for our length of stay, which is common currently for COVID protocols. We did not take advantage of the complimentary continental breakfast, but it looked fresh and amazing, and they had hard boiled eggs for some protein, Waffles, etc., and went above and beyond the usual fruit and pastries. We would definitely stay here again. Recommend trying the Rams Head Southernmost restaurant for delicious meals, including breakfast, just a few blocks away on Whitehead Street.

You would be fine. The crowd tends to be a little bit older but it was a mix - not only couples.
It’s a continental breakfast which is served from 7 - 10. Happy hour is from 5 - 7.
Hi!
It’s entirely up to you, if you would like housekeeping service daily you can, if you would rather not have anyone in your room that’s also ok! We can provide towels as wanted.
Have a great day!
