We purchased a piece of this wonderful community of residents and resort 2 yrs ago and it was the best decision we ever made. Understanding the location and how to get around Key West will be the first steps to having a awesome experience here. Coconut Beach was not designed to be a huge resort with 17 million people, pools, restaurants so if that is what you are looking for then this isn't for you. We bought it because it has a Charleston type feel and is very small. This resort is for folks that want to chill and enjoy the ocean breeze , amazing view and the charm of being surrounded in tropical plants and palms that create a a magical oasis of peace and beauty with views like no other on the island.. It is situated off the southern end of Duval St. for a reason. That being , anytime you want to get away from the mass tourists of Duval St., you can slip right back to this oasis and relax. To the poster that was upset that they had to rent a car to get here and there, then i would add they didn't do their research. Scooter rentals is what everyone does and their is one just around the corner and it is cheap and what everyone does. To that same poster that said restaurants were far away, that too is untrue as you walk thru the back gate and LOUIE'S Back Door is right there and one of the nicest restaurants in Key West . There is also Carolines and Abadonza that are 5 mins away within walking distance as well as 2 fine dining resturaunts at the Waldorf resorts on either side of Coconut Beach Resort.
Back to why Coconut Beach Resort is a hidden gem. We have a two bedroom suite that looks right out onto the water. Most all of the resort is ocean front and with that comes a wrap around front porch with rocking chairs so that you can sit out and feel that island air, and take in the magical views without having to head down to the pool or beach. We love the fact that there is so few people here as it is left up to you to enjoy the serenity of this peaceful resort on your own.. The residents and the few tourists that get to come here will find that folks treat you like family and you will leave with memories to last a lifetime. This resort is for folks that really want to decompress and read a book, walk along one of the very few private beaches( small and quaint) and be left to enjoy the beauty of Key West. Who wouldn't want to sit in the over sized hot tub that is situated right at eye level on the water's edge , and have a cocktail at sunset, making that peaceful or romantic or both. I have been coming to Key West now for 30 yrs and you wont find anything like this anywhere on the island and most folks don't even know it is here , which makes all the more reason to want to be tucked away in this island oasis.

We enjoyed watching the dogs play in the surf every afternoon while we lounged or played in the water ourselves. The resort is small which we liked - easier to social distance. Our efficiency was fine but we will try to get into a 1BR next visit. Luckily I brought a small tub which came in handy for washing the dishes. We grilled scallops, etc from Publix. The laundry is no charge. Lunch next door at Louie's Backyard is affordable; dinner is a bit pricier. Louie's pina coladas are the best we've ever found!

I’ll start with the pro’s: great location steps away from the southernmost point, military park and beach and walking distance from Duval street and shops, restaurants. Pool was nice and clean. The studio room was ok, free on site parking. Cons: the windows were covered with outside shutters so minimal light and no views, there were sugar ants all in the bathroom and main bed area, odd placement for a room, 3 bathrooms mirrors but not on the wall facing in front of you you had to turn completely away from the sink to look in a mirror, tub spout did not completely close off when you put the shower on. Having access to private beach would be nice if the beach was actually nice, full of seaweed and a terrible smell along with very minimal space of actual “beach”; pool was small but adequate. Average stay, I wouldn’t stay here again for the price.

Yes, nice location in terms of walking to restaurants, events, etc., but…there is a pervasive smell that takes away from any beauty there is. First of all, there is a dead fish smell from the kelp-filled beach. Frankly, the water is not appealing at all: brownish, with the need to wade through thick kelp or seaweed. That odor from the beach is different from the sewage (?) that hits you the minute you arrive. Ok, this second odor comes and goes, but it is AWFUL.
The accommodations are fine— clean, well-equipped & the cleaning staff is pleasant. However, when I asked about my inability to snorkel, I was told at the office that I had come at the wrong time of year. I wish I had known!
After talking to a few locals, we were told we had booked “on the wrong side” of Key West and to look at places on the gulf side next time.
I understand that nothing can be done about the puny beach, but I’m wondering about the other odor.
This isn’t cheap, and one would hope to be able to side outside and enjoy the sea breezes, but…no.

The room was good, although we did get some noisy neighbors (why do people slam doors in the middle of the night)?

The front desk service was outstanding. Ksenia was delightful, very attentive and accommodating. Really, you do not often meet a front desk employee who is always so cheerful and remembers your requests! She was wonderful.

Coconut Beach Resort is an oasis of calm in the otherwise faster but still laidback pace of Key West. Our second floor two bedroom unit looked out on the pool and the Sandy beach of the Atlantic. Except for a child on the third floor that ran around on our first night well into 11pm, the unit was quiet and peaceful. The kitchen enabled us to enjoy leisurely breakfasts and lunches inside or on the deck overlooking the ocean. The electric grills down in the pool area worked well for grilling two dinners we ate in residence.
The interior of our unit showed its age with repairs and modifications too blatantly revealing their past history via poorly sparkled walls and sloppy painting and with most of the furniture looking like it is ready to take up residence in Goodwill. We were told upgrades are coming later this year.
The resort is ideally situated for easy bipedal access to Duval and Simonton and is surrounded to the generalized west with a variety of quality, relatively inexperienced restaurants, art galleries and shops. My wife enjoyed her morning walks to the pier just north of the resort. Coconut Beach’s location could not be better to access the best of Key West.

We visited Key West coming from Miami this February and stayed at this hotel. When we checked in, we had some trouble finding the hotel’s parking but we eventually found it. Then we went to our room; we had a bit of trouble getting in the first time. The doors are keyless and unlocked with 6-8 digit PINs. We stayed in the two bedroom suite which was very nice and pretty although not cheap (~$500 per night). That said even though just the two of us stayed in the room it could sleep up to 6 if the sofa bed was used. One of the two bedrooms was spacious with a yellow bed and a great view of the pool. The other bedroom had a red bed and was darker and smaller, although still nice. The pool downstairs was nice, and kept at a pleasant, not cold temperature. The hot tub was very hot but once we got used to it it was very soothing and pleasant. Overall I would recommend the coconut beach resort in key west.

Me and my friends stayed at the Coconut beach resort for couple days July 2020.
One of the best experiences in Key West.
I was in love with the location. Although it’s a quite neighborhood the resort is couple blocks from the southernmost point. Walking distance to the most restaurants on Duval.
This hotel is like a private paradise. It has an access to the private beach.
Hotel is not huge but the property is big enough. Real tropical vibes. A great addition the resort has it’s own underground parking lot. Great pool and even a hot tube ! Perfect for families and couples.
We got such a great room with the sea view.
I loved the set up of the room and how spacious it was. Super clean and cozy! Housekeeping is doing a perfect job.
All of the staff members were super friendly and accommodating. I really appreciate help of the front desk staff members from the very beginning. Ksenia was awesome. She is doing an amazing job. All our requests were done immediately. I wish every hotel had such attentive employee like Ksenia. Definitely will be back! Thank you for amazing experience!
Strongly recommend to stay at Coconut Beach Resort Key West.

Spacious apartments with 2 to 4 beds and a simple kitchenette. Key West is certainly a town where you want to self-cater. The resort has a privat beach, jacuzzi and pool. It is located in walking distance to Duval Street. Thus, conveniently close to the vibrant heart of Key West and still far enough from the cruisers and day-tourists. Only downside of the resort are the prices

Save your money and do not go here. First of all when we got into our room there were little bugs crawling all over the nightstand. There was a dip in the bed and it was extremely uncomfortable. The pictures look amazing but the actual private beach is disgusting with green seaweed everywhere. Also extremely small. But worst of all we wanted to check out early and they gave us a hard time the staff was very rude and the owner of the hotel gave us attitude and told us that they already had somebody ready to replace us. We wanted to get ice in our ice bucket and timeshare lady came out of her room and yelled at us because the ice machine was too loud? the residents in the front part of the Resort are timeshares. This is actually not a hotel if you book a room here you'll have a very disgusting room in the back portion of the building next to the street and you cannot look out the windows because of the storm doors always down. Again save your money keep looking for a different Hotel. We will never suggest going here and left completely disappointed.

To my knowledge, there is 1 handicap accessible unit, D102. It is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath ocean front unit. There are ramps to and from it as well as a ramp to the pool. There is also a handicap lift for the pool

We rent bicycles for the duration we are in Key West. With the island being a 2 x 4 mile space, we bike everywhere. If you don’t want to bike, Mallory Square is a doable 1.5 mile walk. Or, you can get a taxi, Uber or Lyft.
