Had a great stay for our first trip to the keys. Convenient location, loved the room, proximity to the beach and pool area. We enjoyed numerous dinners in the area and visited a couple local breweries. Staff was very friendly and grounds were well maintained.

Hotel's Favourite
We returned again to the Islander this February. The resort continues to maintain itself well a year later. The rooms are very comfortable with excellent bedding, plenty of dresser space and the convenient fridge and microwave. It is nice to be able to park 10 feet from your front door but then to have a beach or tropical garden out of the back door. We enjoyed sitting on the lounge chairs out back or enjoying breakfast in the lanai. The resort has a lot of activities to offer. in addition to the pools the Islander Girl excursion team is right on site. One day we took a 20 minute boat ride out to the reef for some wonderful snorkeling - saw barracudas, sharks, eels and millions of fish. Another day Sarah taught us catamaran sailing which we really enjoyed. Up and down the road within a few miles are several fun restaurants and other boating activities such as deep sea fishing. The only feature lacking at the Islander is a fitness center. About 5 minutes from the resort is a 24 hour fitness center FNX Club by Islamorada Fitness , which has daily or weekly passes. It has virtual spin bikes, treads, full weight sets and a lot of other toys to keep in condition after enjoying drinks by the pool. The Islander vibe is relaxed, great mix of people by age and hometown. We will be back nest year.

This resort falsely advertised their room type - I booked what I thought was a newly remodeled guest room one would think that it would be fresh and new but not even close! The room is old and outdated no place to put any of my makeup near the sink. Dirt in corners and hair on floor gross! I complained to MGR Mr. Seupersad and was told I should have booked a newly renovated room huh newly remodeled and newly renovated aren’t the same? Very unhappy and stuck here as it’s spring break and everything is sold out. Also news to me they sell day passes so big families come and take over the pool area there was not a chair to be found for paying guests. It’s only been 1 day and I’m not impressed what so ever. Thankfully only here for a couple of nights. Do your research before staying at this glorified motel.

The resort has been renovated head to toe, and the effect is magnificent! We are staying in the same room as last year, but everything is new; bathroom, bed, “living room” furniture, TVs, lanai furniture. There are over a dozen new teak lounge chairs & umbrellas on the sand near our room. Overall, the Islander has upped its game tremendously. This place is not to be missed!

There are two things you need to know before booking. First, the hotel has dynamic pricing and a 7 day cancellation policy. I booked directly with the hotel. I then noticed the hotel had lowered their prices below what I booked. and asked them to adjust my rate. They refused to do anything to address it or even give me a dining/amenities credit for the difference. I asked twice. There is no “beach” as most of us would expect. There aren’t any waves you can wade into. That’s honestly what I expected beachfront to mean.

We booked The Islander Resort because we wanted ocean front accommodations. Our room not only met but exceeded our expectations! The resort staff was friendly and attentive. Our fully furnished patio and sandy beach leading up to the water front was exquisite. Imagine waking up to turquoise waters during your stay on Islamorada! The tropical landscaping and impeccably maintained grounds were just beautiful. The beach furnishings were plentiful and we loved the Adirondack chairs and lit fire pits for evening our evening pleasure. We took advantage of the all inclusive dining experience with al fresco breakfast dining at the Elements restaurant and had a fab casual dinner at Tides. We highly recommend The Islander Resort and will definitely return.

A young boy and a near-fatal drowning. Here's what happened. A group of kids and parents were playing together in the kid's pool. The pool is U-shaped with a fountain in the middle. Dangerous design - swimmers can see only one side of U, so we did not know a little boy, a good swimmer, was in trouble. When parents pulled him from the water, he was not breathing. I called 911, and stayed on the phone while they asked about the boy's condition. And I begged, and then yelled at the two staff members to run to the entrance and help the ambulance find the pool. Seconds matter! They refused, they just stood there. This story did not end in tragedy because one of the parents knew how to clear the water from the boy's lungs and perform CPR. Miracle. The resort manager promised to provide staff training in the future.

The Islander is a wonderful resort! I can’t say enough about the friendly, welcoming and hospitable staff..,.Andrew went above and beyond for us when we had to make a room change. Kelly at the Tides bar was friendly and gave great restaurant recommendations. The resort is beautiful, clean and has tons of activities, from kayaking, cornhole, canoeing, bike riding and playing soccer, for everyone in the family. The pools were not overcrowded and there were always plenty of chairs. Tons of good restaurants nearby and they offer a free shuttle service to get you there. The sunrise is amazing and not to be missed. Absolutely I will go there again!
