Very friendly, warm and smiling staff.
Super equipped kitchen, dishes and utensils ultra complete.
Please note: bath TOWELS AND beach towels provided.
Flat: the sofa bed is VERY uncomfortable and the noise of the work on the site opposite and in the apartment next door.

Captain Pips Marina is a busy place with boat rentals, sunset tours, kayaks. Jet skis and more.
Recently acquired by new owners, Pip’s is undergoing a major overhaul of its property. This may dissuade some of you from visiting but they are working on improvements daily.
The surroundings give you easy and beautiful access to the bay. Within the same property is a brand new miniature golf ⛳️ course, a Starbucks ☕️ Coffee open every day until 7pm and a restaurant right on the water, called Porky’s Bayside. All are walkable from your room.
Located at mile marker 48 in Marathon, the location is close to attractions in both Marathon, Islamorada and further south to Key West. They are 2.5 miles from one of the very few beaches on the Keys, Sombrero Beach, which is a beautiful family-friendly long stretch of ocean.
The staff at Captain Pip’s are at the ready for every need you may have. Every time you see a staff member, they greet you with a smile and ask you if you need anything. This attitude starts with their manager, named Penni. She is welcoming, helpful and immediate in her response should you have an issue. You can’t ask for a better example of customer care and management style than Penni. We had a great time and look forward to revisiting to see all the renovations when complete.

Stayed in the Osprey room, was amazed having an apartment with a kitchen, large bedroom, and a big balcony overlooking the Gulf for the money. Kayaks, bicycles, and paddleboards were included which saved me some $$$, went on a snorkel trip on the Spirit from Pip’s Marina and that was a blast, also good restaurant/bar with breakfast is right next door along with other food options within walking distance. The rooms aren’t super updated, but they’re clean and comfy, king size bed was sweet and the decor made it feel more like a vaca home than a hotel. A beach on the property was maybe the only thing missing, but Bahia Honda Park is right across the bridge for prime beaches. Marathon is a nice location, about 45min from Key West, which costs 3x as much for a room on the boring end of the island, plus Marathon is an easier drive from the mainland and anything you want to do in The Keys is within an hour driving.

The only downside for some might be the lack of a 24hr front desk, but we had zero issues with that. The front desk was nice, they were accomodating with my late arrival, the room had everything we needed (they even leave beach towels and a cooler), and the front desk actually called me the day of my check-in around 11am to let me know my room was ready if I wanted to come early.

4 star views and service for the price of a 2 star chain hotel. A few days after my stay, I’m already looking at my calendar and trying to plan for another trip down to The Keys, and I know a great spot to stay now.

Don't expect too much....
To say we were a little disappointed is an understatement. I did research as much as possible before we booked but wasn't quite prepared for how "basic" the accommodation actually is.
The beds were clean and comfortable , the bathroom area was adequate for our needs. Having said that the bathroom sink area was in no way where we were expecting to wash up any breakfast dishes or cups and glasses that we may have used. (right next to the toilet)
The fridge was leaking on the floor on arrival- this was quickly repaired when reported. There was a sickening smell of disinfectant or air spray which lingered for the 3 days of our stay. It may have been to cover up the awful stench that was outside in the docking area. The bulbs in the bathroom were replaced on reporting so thankfully we only had to shower by torchlight once. The light in the bedroom area is attached to the ceiling fan and therefore very high up and certainly out of my reach. The TV had a mind of it's own and turned itself on at all times of day and night.
We booked a sunset cruise - actually the drawing point of our booking. Thinking we would be on site and not having to drive elsewhere to find another location for the trip. We arrived on a wet day, and though disappointed that the cruise was cancelled, we had been prepared for this, the trip was re-arranged for the following day with no problem. The following day had better weather, but again we were alerted by email that the cruise was cancelled. We received no apology just a curt email saying that there wasn't enough people interested . I would have been grateful for an apology. We have been planning this trip for months and this was to be the highlight- and in fact it was a beautiful sunset that evening. Perhaps a more sympathetic tone to the email would have softened the blow a little - even a suggestion of somewhere else locally we could have tried may have been useful too.
We used the restaurant/bar next door and another couple close by for some great food and we met some lovely folk during the stay who explained the accommodation was pretty typical for that area. We enjoyed a nice hour or so in the pool which was warm- but the area could do with tidying up (and again there was the awful stench) and accessing the water to swim in the ocean would be out of the question.
Another plus point for this location had been the onsite coffee shop as there was no breakfast included. However, after paying $8 for a small coffee we didn't return- this is a "chain" so Captain Pip's won't have control over that I guess.
We just felt as though we didn't get very much for the money - we moved onto Miami after this and even though it wasn't cheap there it was much, much better value.
Just our opinion for anyone planning a trip.

I was really looking forward to our stay at Captain Pip's due to the great reviews. We enjoyed our room but were fairly disappointed in the location, service, and amenities. Upon arrival, I asked for an additional blanket and was told (somewhat rudely) that it wasn't possible as housekeeping had already left for the day (this was at 4 pm). About 30 minutes later, housekeeping did deliver a blanket so that was all a little confusing. Our room was very clean and nice. We appreciated the full-size refrigerator, and the bathroom and tiled shower was beautiful. The grounds could use some freshening up, and the marina was tiny and sleepy. When spending almost $400 a night for a simple room, I would expect at least the most basic amenities to be provided, such as ice, which you had to pay for in the office. Overall, I didn't feel we got our money's worth here. We love to stay at small locally owned places, but this one missed the mark. A few little tweaks in customer service and offerings could have made a big difference.

We were planning a short,  2 night stay in the Keys after a few days in Ft Lauderdale.  After much research, we decided on Captain Pips.  We booked a couple of months ago. The biggest reason was because we knew we wanted to spend our 1 full day snorkeling and on the water.  Our Seahorse room and location was fantastic!  It was the perfect size for a family of 4. We had a very firm memory foam bed and all of us slept well. The bathrooms are small with not much counter space, but there was plenty of space in the room.  The pool was small,  but perfect temperature - nice and warm with a great view.  From 4-6pm, we had it to ourselves.

This rating would have been a 5, with the exception of our snorkeling expectation.  The excursion we wanted was the all day snorkeling and trip to their own island,  Money Key.  We had some uncertainty around our trip and didn't attempt to book our excursion until 3 days before our arrival.  I was told that Captain Pips was under new ownership and no longer offered the snorkeling and Money Key package together and they were separate excursions.  They also no longer offered a discount for guests staying with them.  Disappointed, we booked a snorkeling excursion for substantially less than the cost of Captain Pips.  The departure time was the same,  we saw Captain Pips arrive about 20 minutes after we arrive at the reef and they left 20 minutes before we did.  So we paid less and had more time in the water.  It was frustrating, since they are still advertising the all day excursion on their website and on the flyer in their rooms.  Would we stay there again - absolutely.  However, we'll look at other options for excursions.

I wasn't sure what to expect since I have never been to the Keys before. Everything was pricey and things that were no had bad reviews. Our room is nicely appointed with a full refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The room was spotlessly clean and everything worked well. The view was fantastic (included in review)! Included in the room price is use of a bicycle, kayak and paddle board! I did use the kayak and it was great fun. I did have 2 issues (The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating): 1.) The bed is a queen mattress on a frame that is not a queen - the bed overhang on one side making it uncomfortable. 2.) The room is not well isolated from the unit next door which means you hear every word said in the next room. Even with that I would not hesitate to return to Captain Pips, I may just ask for another room (I was in Bonefish).

My Girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights. It was very cozy and had everything we needed. The rooms were clean and comfy. We had a shower with 2 heads that could be used at once in the Looe key efficiency. That's awesome for couples!

We had acces to the Kayaks SUP's and bikes. We even went on a sunset snorkel cruise which was just beautiful!

Our room was by the water, had a BBQ, hammock and there was games !

The staff was great! We booked 2 different rooms to match our days and they moved our food from one room to another while we went to key west.
They gave us super clear instructions on how to get to our room when we showed up after office hours.

Look botom line for the price we paid we couldn't have asked for a better stay it exceeded our expectations. I never write reviews but I loved it so much that I had to!

I will be staying here again next year when I come back. We planned everything last minute and I'm so grateful we found this place! Truly awesome 👌 👏

Trying to find good accommodations that won't break the bank is hard so I was thrilled to come across Captain Pips which was reasonably priced and had rave reviews and they lived up to the hype. We stayed in the Garden Apartment as a family of 4 with kids who do not want to share a bed. Both the regular bed and Murphy bed were very comfortable and while it would have very comfortably fit both kids, that wasn't going to happen so there was room to also set up our air mattress. The queen bed is in the bedroom and Murphy in the living area. Both areas have a tv. Kitchenette was great with all the dishes we needed. We all slept great. The TV in the living area shares a wall with the room next door so you can hear the neighbors TV if they have it turned up however you can't hear it in the bedroom. We keep a noise machine when we travel since you often can't avoid neighbor noise and that worked out well to avoid the kids hearing their TV while they slept.
We had one issue where the hot water stopped working in the shower so I called the office in the morning and it was fixed before we got back to the room a couple hours later which was fantastic. Things happen and they addressed it right away which is greatly appreciated and a great sign of a good place to stay.
Also, be sure to read through all the info they give you when you check in, especially if you haven't been to the keys before. It's very helpful a and will help you avoid any surprises.
We sell definitely stay here again if we come back to Marathon. Also, if needing a quick bite, grab the fried chicken from the gas station across the street. Really good, although obviously you should only eat seafood while down here. We ate at keys fisheries 3 times right down the road, really goodeating!

We made over the phone reservations directly with Captain Pips for one night following a camping trip in the Dry Tortugas. Only upgraded rooms were available that night so our room cost would be $250 per night. A $75 deposit was charged to my credit card. Arrived around 6 p.m. tired and ready for a shower but it was after office hours and they were closed. I was not advised as to what time they closed. No after hours number available. Other room keys were in envelopes outside of office but none with our name. After dining at the restaurant next door, asking waiters, diners and several captain Pips residents outside at the hotel, we were fortunate that an office associate who also lives there overheard my queries and called the office manager for me. The staff was apologetic and said the mixup was due to my having changed my date after making the original reservation. Manager said we could take care of payment in the morning. The room was okay, definitely not upscale. The bed was comfortable. Upon checkout there was evidently another misunderstanding and I thought we were receiving a discount on the room due to the problem we had encountered. When I got my credit card statement I saw I was charged the full amount so I emailed the office to see if they intended to do this. The reply said I needed to call and speak to the manager. I asked that they forward my email to the manager and they replied again that she had been made aware but I still needed to phone. I did not phone as I was uncomfortable having a dispute, but thought a reply from the manager would have been appropriate. I did not hear from her.
