Just leaving after a 2 night say in their aqua lodge . The accommodations were as pictured. We enjoyed the very clean tiny houseboats with all you need including beautiful views. Very friendly staff and booking change of plans and checkin were quick and seamless. Free bikes kayak rentals and pet friendly were big pluses for our group and I loved watching the sunset from their private strand. the back patio on unit #1 did not have a privacy screen as far as I could tell while the other units did - that would’ve been nice to have. Coconut cake is near a private airport. However, I only heard one or two planes during our stay. All in all I’d recommend. I will likely book again very soon.

We stayed in the Turtle building at the back of the property; Room T-2 (2-story near canal). Very old school looking. The motel is literally next door to the Marathon airport...planes flew directly above our room prior to landing. It was a very cool view from the deck outside our room. All that to say it was quiet. I did not notice any noise from the planes when we were sleeping. The beds were some of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The room was small and recently updated (not the best workmanship). It was however clean and cheap. Lighting was not the best inside the room, but it was adequate. The deck was awesome for viewing the sunset. New deck chairs and a small table are there to enjoy. There were additional deck chairs next to the canal. My husband and daughter saw a manatee in the first five minutes we were there. We saw other guests using the free paddle boards, kayaks, and bikes. Unfortunately, we did not have time in our schedule to enjoy them. I was told you leave your room key at the front desk and you get it back when you return the items. Extra towels need to be requested during office hours (8am-10pm). I don't think they were servicing rooms until checkout due to COVID. We were there two nights and would stay again. It is an hour drive to Key West and the total for two nights including taxes was $302. That is less than one night at the cheapest hotel in Key West. A grab and go breakfast was included (oatmeal cup. granola bar, muffin, apple juice, and an orange). FYI...there is a hair dryer in the room. I didn't see it listed on the website. Call the hotel directly for a better rate than the online booking sites.

Older hotel but kept up pretty well. Bathroom is somewhat updated. We had a room with a kitchenette which made things easy making a snack or coffee. Full sized refrigerator was also convenient. Pool is old but hey it's a pool. Nice if you get the rooms on the canal. Airport was not disruptive mostly small planes.

Stayed in room 105. Booked last minute so expectations were low to start. 9:30pm tried to take a shower 0 water pressure, tried front desk know one present for questions. FYI front desk hours are 8am- 10pm this you’re informed of upon checking in. Next morning pressure was there but I will describe it as slow running sink. Not adequate in the slightest for reasonable accommodations. Bathroom was covered with tiny bugs as well which only added to the frustration. After that attempted to use the TV and of course that didn’t work. Spent 20 minutes reprogramming the TV to get it to work. Which it didn’t work correctly so we gave up and went to bed. Breakfast in the morning is a ziplock bag filled with microwavable breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, apple juice and snack pack style fruit in a cup? When inquiring at front desk was told that they hoped I would have better luck next time. This establishment does not do partial credits or refunds. Attempted to run it thru 3rd party site which I booked thru but had no luck. Hope this helps to save anyone from making same mistake we did.

We have been staying at this hotel for many years. It has really gone down hill. We paid $1539 for 4 nights in room 507. The woman at the desk spoke such broken English that I could not understand her. Our room had broken blinds and the toilet did not work. I complained about the it and the blinds were fixed but the toilet did not work our entire stay. You had to take the top off the tank and move the flapper to flush. I went up and complained about it every day but it was not fixed. The kitchen had bare necessities and roach baits in the cabinets. The tiles by the sliding glass doors were broken and moved when you stepped on them. The furniture was in terrible shape. There is construction going on behind the canal and to the side so we woke up to construction noise at 6:30. They have roosters that crow at your door as well so do not expect to sleep late. There were employees changing out boards on the dock and they used our truck bed to throw away their trash. My husband removed the trash and left it beside the pile of boards. When we came out to go to dinner, one of the soda bottles had been placed on our windshield with our windshield wiper holding it down. This is their idea of customer service. We asked to leave early and were told by the manager that they give no refunds. They charge a 12.5% resort fee yet I had to go ask for coffee for the room's coffee maker twice and the "laundry" that is listed as an amenity was out of order. I was so disappointed in what used to be a lovely, affordable. quaint, little Old Florida motel. We won't go back. It's a shame.

Nice stay. We were in the T or Turtle building. The room was nice and clean, had two full beds, a rocking chair, microwave, fridge. There’s a porch/balcony area with two beach chairs and a little table. We enjoyed a meal out there. We didn’t bring the boat down this time but see that there’s great boat parking/docking. No beach/beach access—just canal access to open waters.
The grab-and-go breakfast wasn’t bad either. There was a slice of banana bread, an oatmeal kit, yogurt, an orange and apple juice, packaged in a gallon ziplock bag. We even recycled the ziplock bags to bag up some of our catch ;)
Next time we might request a room facing the canal and dock the boat right behind our room. The canal rooms have a back porch with a picnic table, rather than the balcony as on the two-story buildings. That seems it’d offer some additional privacy and a view of the canal. We spotted a couple snappers, grunts, needlefish and a snook out in the canal.
There is a little laundry area, a pool and some outdoor seating spots. We didn’t see an ice machine though.
Be aware of resort fees ($7/night) and “bed tax”??? (5%/night) on top of the nightly room rate and sales tax.
The only issues we had—and those were minor—is initially there were no washcloths, hand/body soap, and only a third of a roll of TP. Those were rectified over the next day or two. There were also some (apparently) extended stay guests—some of whom were interesting to say the least and a bit more engaging than we would have sought out. Including a couple who was fighting in the middle of the night causing a bit of a disturbance (and some drama the next night out by the canal). But overall, great stay. We’ll likely go back with the boat.

Do not go by the pictures on the website, this place was not at all what we expected for the $1400 we paid for 3 nights. The room had absolutely no sunlight, the 3 lamps put out just enough light to see where you were going. The bathroom was so tiny, it took 20 minutes just to get the hot water going. The beds had plastic covers, which was fine but the fitted sheets lost the elasticity so you were sleeping on the plastic. The room was small dark and dingy. The only plus was we were able to bring our 20ft boat. Couldn’t even close the front door without slamming it.

Angie at Coconut Cay Resort said we could not cancel our up coming 3 night stay. Because it was within 60 days. When I told her we lived in Venice Fl. And we were hit pretty much head on by Hurricane Ian. And our county was in a state of emergency. She said quote "I'm sorry. But we don't control the weather ". I pray Coconut Cay Resort never gets hit by a hurricane. If they do I pray everyone who has a reservation during that time demands they still honor their reservation. Because "We do not control the weather "either. And you probably will rent our room out. And get paid double for the room. You will reap what you sow. God bless and stay safe.

Pro: Nice, modern room with refrigerator, microwave and garden terrace with table where you could relax. Free use of bicycles and canoes.
Con: We were in room 104 and the windows could not be closed "hermetically". The complex is on a busy road, US 1 with a lot of traffic that doesn't stop until late and starts very early in the morning. Need earplugs to sleep. Loud air conditioning. From 4 o'clock you will be awakened by roosters. Breakfast is Grab & Go, consisting of a can of apple juice, a box of oatmeal, a muffin, orange and a yogurt that you can pick up at the reception from 8 am.

Stayed here with another couple and their teenage son. We had a kitchenette canal view room. We put a twin air mattress in the kitchenette area and had plenty of room. Pros: quiet place
Good value
Large rooms
Right on the canal so we could leave the boat all week
Manatees in the canal
Cons: no smoke alarm. Maybe it was grandfathered in? Maybe it was hidden?
Front door was an interior foam door and there were some repairs? to the frame. Not sure if it was from an attempted break in or just really bad repairs.
You will get one small bag of ice per day, about enough for two or three drinks.
Breakfast was a ziploc bag of yogurt, fruit, pastry.

Don’t stay there. It is filthy. The staff is terribly rude and they over charged by nearly double. They try to lure you in with fake photos and good reviews from people they pay then trap you there with a forfeit clause in a weird contract they make you sign before you see the room. It will ruin your vacation!
