This is a great state park to take the family to (even if you're not camping - we aren't). We took a 4 year old and a 10 year old. We spent a couple hours on the ocean side of the park where 1 of our family enjoyed surfing, while the rest of us looked for shells, built sand

I know that the park can't control the no see ums but, other parks that we have been to have sprayed for bugs. Had to leave a day early before they drove me totally nuts. The park itself is ok. Bath houses relatively clean. Sites nicely spaced. We did have a lot of problems with

We had incredibly beautiful weather! The fishing is phenomenal!!! We saw dolphins every day! The campsite is very nice. They keep it very clean! The beaches are gorgeous! The small luncheonette is very convenient and delicious! We will be back!!!

What a great place, we have been going since the late 70s and have enjoyed each visit and caught tons of fish. I think security needs to be stepped up at night to control the drinking and such but not bad and most are friendly. Hope to go again soon!!!

Does anyone have a suggestion on a good site?
Do you have to drive to go the beach?
From the Campground you can walk to the Beach. There is a designated swimming area on the North Shore which is in the Inlet Cut and has swimming areas tied off, to get to that one you have to Drive over the bridge.

How far is the campground from the fishing pier?
There is a smaller fishing pier in the coastal cut under the large bridge within walking distance of the campgroung and another smaller one that leads out on the cut. But to get to the very Large Pier that you see in all the picturesgoes, you have to drive, go cross the Bridge north, go into the Statepark entrace which is on your left. Since you are in the campground you do not have to pay for the Statepark entrance, but you still have to wait in line if there is one.
