The kitchens have everything you need, which is great for cooking on-site since food options are limited in Mexico Beach.
The pool was perfect early in the day. The beach was a bit crowded, but that is expected on a beautiful day.
We will return again soon! 🌊☀️
Personally, I’m not a fan of swimming in the gulf when people are fishing next to me so that was a bummer. 🦈 (not a knock on the resort)
Sunsets are spectacular & we saw a falling star one night. Parking is good & free. We’ll be back!
The Gulf View Motel is located on Hwy. 98 with easy beach access across the street. The rooms are relatively small, with seperate bedrooms, each with a twin-size bed. The living room has a full-size refrigerator and a stove (the oven didn't work in ours). A microwave oven was reluctently brought in to remedy that. Telephone use is limited - 10 minute calls (when you can get a line), no call after 10:00 PM and no messages taken. Our house-sitter was laughed at when she said that she was calling from out of town. It's no frills and unfriendly service at a bargain basement cost.
The El Governor motel is located on the beach with comfortable rooms and regular housekeeping services. Each room overlooks the beach and Gulf from a private balconiy. A full-size refrigerator and stove (with working oven AND microwave) compliment the accomodations. Prices are competetive, not outrageous. The pool and bar are cozy and convienent after a slow, hot ride down the elevator; an incentive, I suppose, to take the stairs. The person providing security was a bit overzealous in his treatment of those younger than him who weren't on a tight leash held by a parent.
On July 4th., the barge from which the fireworks were shot anchored just off-shore from the motel. The reflection of colors on the water provided a truly magnificent display.
If you are looking for a wild and exciting time at the beach, go to Panama City. However, if you are a chronological adult who enjoys a beautiful, uncrowded beach with clear water and good fishing, Mexico Beach just may be the place for you, - even on a budget. They call the stretch of Gulf where Mexico Beach is located "the Forgotten Coast." For the life of me, I can't understand why.
