Excellent choice in Mexico Beach. We loved that our room had a full kitchen with everything needed to cook meals including dish soap and dish towels. Also a full size refrigerator. Everything is new, beds and pillows are extremely comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

We have been patrons since before the hurricane. This is our first trip in the new hotel! They have really outdone themselves with this one. The rooms are larger and has a full kitchen with all the things you will need to cook and eat at the hotel. The customer service is fantastic! We are at the pool planning our next trip! What are you waiting for??

The remodel is clean and inviting. It still has the feel of an older, family friendly spot though. No frills, but a great experience!

The kitchens have everything you need, which is great for cooking on-site since food options are limited in Mexico Beach.

The pool was perfect early in the day. The beach was a bit crowded, but that is expected on a beautiful day.

We will return again soon! 🌊☀️

Personally, I’m not a fan of swimming in the gulf when people are fishing next to me so that was a bummer. 🦈 (not a knock on the resort)

I called and reserved a room on Nov. 6 for the nights of 11/14-15. I called to cancel yesterday because of family issues. Anyway, they would not refund my deposit because i didn't cancel within 7 days of arrival. I DIDINT have a reservation 7 days out but they are so sorry no one told me. I really hope they enjoy that lil $200 because they will never get one cent from me or my family/ friends who visit the area frequently. This is on top of the last stay in September when they wanted $10 to service our room. The water was turned off at the beach and our room was full of sand. Brooms would be helpful in the pretty new rooms.

Just perfect! Nice new room—actually everything is brand new. Large window & balcony overlooking the Gulf in each room. Seconds to the beach. Easy check in, friendly staff. Restaurants nearby, brochures in the lobby.
Sunsets are spectacular & we saw a falling star one night. Parking is good & free. We’ll be back!

We stayed at the El Governor RV Park and had the best time. The park was an excellent RV park too stay at. Very clean and well located. The staff were super friendly and nice. Will be going back in April. It is located right across the beach.

We had a wonderful weekend celebrating our 40th anniversary at El Governor. The remodel is excellent but still has the same old charm as the past. The staff were very friendly and the room was spectacular. Really special since my parents spent their honeymoon there in 1955.

Going to Mexico Beach, Fla. seemed a reasonable ambition for my family of three for an extended July 4th. holiday. We spent seven days at the Gulf View Motel, then shuffled over to the El Governor Motel for three more days.
The Gulf View Motel is located on Hwy. 98 with easy beach access across the street. The rooms are relatively small, with seperate bedrooms, each with a twin-size bed. The living room has a full-size refrigerator and a stove (the oven didn't work in ours). A microwave oven was reluctently brought in to remedy that. Telephone use is limited - 10 minute calls (when you can get a line), no call after 10:00 PM and no messages taken. Our house-sitter was laughed at when she said that she was calling from out of town. It's no frills and unfriendly service at a bargain basement cost.
The El Governor motel is located on the beach with comfortable rooms and regular housekeeping services. Each room overlooks the beach and Gulf from a private balconiy. A full-size refrigerator and stove (with working oven AND microwave) compliment the accomodations. Prices are competetive, not outrageous. The pool and bar are cozy and convienent after a slow, hot ride down the elevator; an incentive, I suppose, to take the stairs. The person providing security was a bit overzealous in his treatment of those younger than him who weren't on a tight leash held by a parent.
On July 4th., the barge from which the fireworks were shot anchored just off-shore from the motel. The reflection of colors on the water provided a truly magnificent display.
If you are looking for a wild and exciting time at the beach, go to Panama City. However, if you are a chronological adult who enjoys a beautiful, uncrowded beach with clear water and good fishing, Mexico Beach just may be the place for you, - even on a budget. They call the stretch of Gulf where Mexico Beach is located "the Forgotten Coast." For the life of me, I can't understand why.

This July was our first trip to Port St. Joe. We booked accommodations at a hotel on Rt 98, the beach highway. Upon arrival, we found our room was dark, dingy, with mold in the shower and cobwebs in the windows. Yuck! The room was so bad, we gave up our deposit and went looking for a different hotel. By good fortune, we stopped at the El Governor. They had a clean, comfortable, gulf front room with an efficiency kitchen available at a reasonable rate. We stayed at El Governor for four days. We totally enjoyed the experience. Beautiful beach...friendly staff...We definitely would return!

We had heard great things about Mexico Beach and were not let down. The town was great. The hotel is another story though. It only took 45 minutes on the beach the first day there for us to be robbed. Most of our cash, jewelry, and even our hairdryer were stolen. Worse still is the fact we were accussed of master minding a scam. Not only were robbed of our possessions but also of our dignity. Come to find out there is an ongoing investigation against this hotel and their "wonderful staff". It seems this type of thing tends to happen on a regular basis at El Governor. If it came down to staying at El Governor or never having another vacation I would gladly accept the later.
