Wall painting was unnecessary or rather bad taste. No wooden furnishings. Felt like I checked in a school dormitory. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. My wife and I were totally disappointed.
Visited recently. Chose this hotel because it was rated highly when booked, it’s proximity to the airport, and it boasts a lovely outdoor pool. The hotel is new so that was also appealing. We checked in without issue, however, with only 2 people ahead of us, it took what felt a long time. The music in the lobby, which felt more like a club than a relaxing hotel, was much too loud. Maybe I’m just getting old in my 30s. Maybe it was the long day we had already experienced. We were tired, hungry and just wanted to rest. We got to our room probably 30 min after arrival. Immediately I noted that our room smelled like a urinal but we were so tired we didn’t complain. The sheets smelled a bit musty- like they could’ve already been slept in, but they looked and felt clean. Our window shade was broken but we were able to manually stand up and pull it down. I disliked the unfinished industrial look of the room ceiling (complete with markings for construction/spray paint) and the exposed sprinkler which flashed a bright light in the night every few minutes. We asked about the pool and we were told it was under construction, which was a HUGE disappointment because we had an entire day remaining in Miami and we had no idea the pool was closed. We were expecting to spend our day at the hotel pool and not drive into the city, 45 min away, to enjoy the rest of the day. The hotel isn’t located in an area you would want to walk around in. In fact, when we decided to door dash some food- it came all the way from downtown Miami! There was nothing close by except for Cuban or Mexican food, which we did not want. The hotel restaurant has about 12 items on the menu… Yucca fries, chicken wings, a salad or two, a burger, and some desserts. We were not impressed. Between the pool being closed (the website doesn’t say it’s closed), the room smelling unclean, the loud music in the hotel lobby/bar area, and the overall aesthetic, we were not impressed and will definitely not return to Radisson Red.…
Nothing wrong with being a hotel right by the airport if you accept that but this hotel is trying to be more. It is a crappy area with nothing around in the shadows of planes taking off. The bar is okay but has limited food options. The biggest negative was the false advertising of the outdoor pool. Was given the excuse at check-in that the hotel is still new and the pool isn't operational yet. Then it shouldn't advertise it. I chose this hotel because my wife and I had spend the 3 nights prior in the Keys and we had an early flight the following day... so it was right by the airport. It just sucked that the pool was closed, the bar/food was minimal, and nothing was around. Not worth the $225/night price tag for what you get.
We planned a stay at this hotel for an early (6AM) flight, so we were very disappointed to learn that the airport shuttle doesn't start until 5AM. So we had to book our own taxi instead. Although the decor is very hip, overall it was a mediocre experience, particularly for a brand-new place. I was surprised that no one working at the front desk was wearing a mask as Omicron was exploding in South Florida. They have a beautiful new pool but it was closed, no reason given. They had no ping pong balls for the new ping pong table. They told me they could not mail our postcards (do they not have a mailperson?). And while mechanized black-out shades sound nice, ours didn't work, so the nearby street/ building lights were blazing in our windows all night. Would not recommend.
Five fricking barking dogs in the restaurant. The worst ever!!! I complained and was told this is a dod friendly place. My reply was not to friendly to people trying to have dinner. Absolutely the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Will NEVER stay at this place again.
