We stayed one night in December and one in January book-ending flights to the Caribbean so location and ability to sleep our family was key. On our second stay we actually chose to eat at the Miami airport in lieu of eating at the hotel restaurant. It's sad when an airport Chilis is a step up in cuisine. We also learned on our second stay that the shuttle only runs after 5:30am so we had to book a Lyft for the airport rendering the location/shuttle point mute. We again had to ask for more than 2 towels for the room and just decided to share instead of dealing with it.
The hotel waitstaff at the onsite restaurant was a bright spot. The gentleman worked over 15 tables tirelessly on our first stay and was responsive of our to-go order. Unfortunately the pizza was a mushy "crust" with a slathering of cream cheese-esque product on it (no red sauce). My teen boys ate cold instant oatmeal and threw out the pizza after one piece.
Will we stay again, no, but to be fair we aren't fans of flying through Miami. There are other options close to Miami International that provide shuttles to the airport and other hotels within an easy uber/lyft ride that would suit our needs. I gave the hotel 2 stars because the room was $400/night and lacked value at that price. We were by no means expecting luxury or nice but certainly a bit better. This is the second Embassy Suites we have stayed in over the past 5 weeks and unfortunately the brand as a part of Hilton has lost our business.
Parrish at the front desk was very helpful on our arrival. He told us we were able to pay I think $30 or $35 to check in early since there were rooms available. That was very helpful traveling with a 4 year old.
The hotel's decor was very up-to-date, and the holiday decorations were great. The room was nice and cozy as well. I was glad that the room had a living room and bedroom with a door between them that was able to be closed. All of the rooms face the open lobby/bar/restaurant area, and there were people down there that were hanging out down there playing music, and closing the door between the living room and room, cut down on the noise.
I enjoyed the breakfast, we were about to choose made to order omelette or made to order eggs. They had a nice variety of hot buffet style food, hot cereal, cold cereal, fruit, bread/pastries.
There were a couple of things that were annoying, but didn't make it a bad stay. First there were 4 towels and only 2 wash clothes, and there were 3 of us. We called down for more wash clothes, but never received them. We had our own, but didn't want to have to put wet wash clothes in our suitcase before going on our cruise. The second annoying thing is that they have a gate to get into the hotel. Our Uber/Lyft drivers had to get a ticket to come in to pick us up, but there was no one working the gates, and it took time for us to get out. Sometimes the gates would open when they pressed the button on the machine to get out, and other times it took several minutes. I can understand them wanting to have the parking gated, but I feel like just to get to the front door, one shouldn't have to get a ticket to come in, especially in the age of ride share services.
If I take another cruise out of Miami, I would consider them again.
We stayed there the evening of 15-APR-2024, an overnight stay before an early AM flight the next morning. Booked through AA Hotels. We had a room at the backend of the property, in front of the elevators, one floor below the top floor. The machinery noise from the elevators was extremely loud, coming from *above* us. So not the elevators cars and doors themselves, but the machinery powering the elevators. We had to turn on closed captioning to be able to watch TV. And we were constantly woken all night long. Got no sleep. We asked shortly after checking in for another room, but was told none were available and suggested we use ear plugs. Then turned and walked away.
It was unbelievable they have the nerve to even sell such a room. Reminded me of that Dan Akroyd SNL characters that sold bags of broken glass as kids toys. It's shameful they have the nerve to provide and charge for such a room, and then so flippant, uncaring, and nonchalant when we raised concerns.
Also the "shuttle service" stops at 11ish. Put flight was 11:30. That's one of the reasons I booked the hotel. But the drivers were great. Probably the best staff there.
