My husband and I stayed here for two nights whilst we were on a rainforest excursion. This place is basic but homely. The staff are all really friendly and keep the place looking clean and tidy. Everyone takes their shoes off in reception and the main restaurant. We were here on our honeymoon and were given one of the VIP lodges (there are 3 out of a total 25 lodges). The lodge was big! Initially when we entered the lodge the aircon wasn’t on, so it was like an oven but the aircon worked brilliantly so it soon cooled down. The shower was great (although it took a freezing cold shower to realise the hot and cold symbols were back to front!). The food was home cooked and tasty - just what you needed after a day on the river! We would recommend but only for a few days!!
Myself and my Wife Alex stayed for a couple of days during our honeymoon. Our guide was Paul who was fantastic - we cannot thank Paul enough for all of his help from start to finish. Food was great and all of the staff were very friendly. Bilit was a nice and relaxed stay during our honeymoon and you are really made to feel like home. We were made to feel special by having a room upgrade for our honeymoon and flowers laid out for our last night- this was a really nice touch. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again. Thanks Andy
We recently visited the Bilit Rainforest lodge as part of an organised tour. We are a family of four with two teenagers. We landed in Sandakan and were picked up by our lovely guide and embarked on a 3 day jungle tour. Our first stop after two hours drive was the Gomantong Cave inside Gomantong Hill in Sabah. All I can say is that it’s an experience! We were lucky enough to see two wild orangutans while walking to the cave! The cave itself is an assault to the senses. The smell of bird and bat poo is indescribable. The other treat in the cave is cockroaches galore. Millions of them. Large ones, small ones, everywhere! If you want to take photos in the cave you need cash to pay a camera fee. The cost is 30 ringgits per camera. Phones are free. This charge is fairly…
We stayed here for one night, but I wish it had been two. The beds are lovely, the bathrooms are a little basic but that's not what you're here for - you're here to see the Kinabatangan River and the amazing wildlife that lives here. When you aren't venturing out on the river in speedboats to spot wildlife, there are hammocks dotted around the lodge in which you can read a book and relax. There is also a jungle walk, however this was closed for our visit due to a family of clouded leopards living nearby! On the river we saw plenty of primates (including proboscic monkeys, orang-utans, two different species of macaques and silverleaf langurs), beautiful birds and baby crocodiles. The following day some of our party were lucky enough to be in the river when a whole herd of pygmy…
Basic accommodation. We stayed two nights and this was sufficient with 4 river tours including an evening one in the dark. Knowledgable guides. We saw many monkeys, orangutan and crocs etc, plus a range of birds. Accommodation is rustic. Food is a buffet style with a range of simple options. Friendly staff Ponchos provided. Limited things to do in between tours so bring a book. Some limited internet coverage. Probably 3.5 stars rather than 4, giving the benefit of you are in a jungle!!
