Our family of four stayed in the Bilit Rainforest Lodge for two nights around New Years 2010. We've stayed in many jungle lodges around the world and this one ranks with the best of them. OK, this was low season but we stayed there two nights as part of a guided tour. The chalet accommodation is excellent with air-con, fan. The shower was big enough to have a party in and it had a separate WC. Meals were on a buffet style with a good choice of menu (I particularly liked the river crayfish). Tea...

Just got back from Borneo where Bilit Rainforest Lodge was one of our stops. The rooms are lovely but the service is terrible. The food was also mediocre at best with tinned pineapple served for breakfast. In addition, the TV in the dining area was constantly on with the volume set very loud. Lovely place to stay on the Kinabantangan River. Took a couple of hours to get there but well worth it. The chalets are roomy, clean and very comfortable, with large verandahs with hammocks. Bilit Rainforest Lodge is located beside the Lower Kinabatangan River in the village of Bilit, approximately 2 hours drive from Sandakan. It is a set of amidst lush tropical forest and offers comfort and peaceful relaxation as well as a base for easy exploration of the incredible diversity of plant, mammal and birds at the Kinabatangan region. All chalets and the restaurant are made from local hardwood material and are designed to blend into the nature giving a unique local native ambience. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable with a minimum of 600 sq.ft. for standard chalets and 800 sq. ft. for VIP permier chalets.
