Alles van te voren geregeld via facebook contact en whatsapp. We werden opgehaald bij t vliegveld Sandakan, vanaf daar 2,5 uur rijden naar de rivier. Daar werden we opgehaald en naar de homestay gebracht. T was fantastisch...back to basic ..maar echt n fijne ervaring.

Very nice homestay! We were there for 2,5 day and felt very welcome. The food is good as well and the family is super friendly. We went on the rivercruise 3 times and saw elephants, crocodiles, monkeys, orang oetangs and lots of birds. It is nice to experience how the locals live there. I would say recommend staying 2 nights or days!

We booked 2 nights at this homestay. In total we did 4 river cruises (2x afternoon, 1x morning, 1x evening) and 1 jungle walk. We loved every second of it! The room had a fan and was comfortable. The shower is local-style, so don’t expect any luxury here. This is however perfect for a short stay. The food prepared was delicious and different every day. There’s a nice relaxing area where you can read or interact with the children. During the jungle cruises our guide went out of his way to show us as many different animals as he could. We saw the pig tail macaque, long tail macaque, 4 orang-utans, 1 red leaf monkey, crocodiles, hornbills, many types of kingfisher birds, snakes, owls, eagles and even a hord of Pygmy elephants. Cruises always lasted for minimum 2 hours, except the night cruise (1h30) and were with maximum 6 people in the boat. We were impressed by how easily the guide could spot the animals, especially in the dark. We liked the jungle walk as well, but did think it was rather short. Definitely recommend to stay here, you will have an amazing and very personal experience!

We had an amazing stay with Yanie and her family! We loved experiencing the river on a local way by staying with a local family. They were so kind and helpful. Yanie provided delicious food and her brother made sure we saw lots of animals on our boottrips. I would definitely recommend staying with them!

We had a very good stay with this adorable family. Cruises to see the animals are very good. You can go there with your eyes closed. Be careful, it's isolated and rustic but that's what makes the beauty of this place.

I had a very good time staying with Wan and his family. The food was amazing and more than I could eat and the river cruises were incredible. It is a great alternative to the more expensive lodges and you will have small groups on the river cruises which is a bonus. Wan was a great guide with the eyes of eagle to see all there is to see. Accomodation is basic so as long as your not looking for luxury, you will be comfortable and happy. I highly recommend this homestay

No luxury. Instead you get the rich experience to live like the locals, basic, pure and simple. Meet the kindest family, and connect with the kids who will be curious about you and your Malay vocabulary. Yanee serves very good food (I even had lobster 2 times straight from the river) Wandie takes you allover the Kinabatangan river and through the jungle in search of the wildlife. Get up close with Pygmee-elephants, crocs, proboscis monkeys, pigtail macaces, see hornbills, snakebirds, owls, eagles and many more. Just be amazed by the beauty of the real untouched jungle. Highly recommended
