We had the 3 day 2 night River Safari experience. And yes it was a true experience which we loved! Our guide for the river trips and evening walks was "Captain Jack" as he liked to be known as, and was excellent! 6am and 4pm were the river safaris, where we experienced proboscis monkeys, crocodiles and of course the odd orangutan. We were very fortunate and each trip was and adventure. Truly worthwhile experience and a must do in Borneo! The timber cottages were ok, basic but functional. The only down side and why I dropped it a mark was the pillow had not been washed. The pillow cases were fresh and clean, but due to the humidity and everyone sweating all the time, I assume this had gone into the pillow. The smell was very very unplesant. Wifi could have been in the main eating/sitting areas as an improvement, but if it was an escape from it all that you wanted, then this is definitely the place to be. Food was local cuisine and plentiful, and the main area was very atmospheric, but keep an eye out for the local money patrolling and trying to steal any food you may turn your back on. A FANTASTIC experience, thank you!…
Spent two nights here, disconnected from the world, in beautiful timber cottages surrounded by complete nature. The room was spacious and comfortable, as were the beds (although the sheets were disturbed on both beds as if it had been recently slept in but I am hoping it is not the case). The bathroom was humongous. Remember to turn the water heater on prior to showering. A hairdryer can be borrowed from reception. A couple of the wooden clothes hangers were mouldy (probably due to the climate); I would suggest switching to plastic to circumvent this in future. The room remains quite cool without the air con. However, you can't keep the fan on without the lights. Wifi is provided but for 2 hours only each day - it's enough to message your love ones and send an email or two but otherwise, don't think about Facebook or YouTube. Even checking websites are a hassle. Stick with nature and just unplug. The verandah is a wonderful place to sit and appreciate nature, especially when it's raining. There are also hammocks if that's more to your liking. Meals are pretty standard affairs and will keep you full. Overall, it was a wonderful stay to reconnect with nature and disconnect. Everyone was friendly and the cruises are truly wonderful.…
I booked the 3 day, 2 night excursion through an independent operator for a decent price to stay in the dorms. What I did love: great food, 4 river cruises, jungle walks, the animals/birds/insects that I saw, ability to rent rubber boots for a decent price, and the couple hrs allocated as "freetime", which I enjoyed in one of their hammocks. What I did NOT like: Guides who were soft spoken, spoke too fast, and hard to understand their English (I'm a former International Student Advisor so accustom to accents). One guide told a guest he could throw his garbage into the river! Not happy that they do NOT post the correct prices for the drinks available for purchase from their cooler, found out later it was 2.5 times the cost!
Spent couple nights there no wi-fi or tv but great comfortable timber cottages and dorms to suit most travelers - great location on the river where can sit with a drink and watch sun, better go out on the river an see life in the wild.
Stayed here on an excursion....and what a time we had. The river cruises were beyond our expectations. The staff throughout the resort were all very friendly and helpful. It was our first experience of dormitories, needn't have worried, they were very clean & comfortable with plenty of showering facilities. The food was very tasty...not always very hot though (that would be the only negative of the whole experience). Thanks to everyone there who made our trip so memorable!
