Have stayed at Port Orleans multiple times over the years. Has gone downhill. Disappointed more this year. First time back to Disney since Covid. Did not even go into the parks this time so was just supposed to be a relaxing resort stay. Door unlock feature with phone app did not work. Had to wait with two small pups outside the room until a nice gentleman could get there to let us in. Room was looking more dated and furniture was definitely dinged and had not been touched up. Coffee maker is made to brew two cups at once but only the left worked properly. Air conditioner was FILTHY!!! A/C is apparently on motion sensing now so every night we woke up very hot several times each time and had to go turn the A/C fan back on. Makes for poor sleep in a place where sleep is very important for people planning to spend hours in the parks. Housekeeping is awful. No one ever came by to check on us or ask if we needed towels, more coffee, trash emptied etc. We ended up just taking what we needed from the carts when/if we saw them. One of the bathroom lights was burned out over the vanity. The paint is peeling on the concrete walkways outside the rooms and the exterior of the doors need painting. One of the big hanging lanterns in the exterior of one of the mansions was not lit like the rest for the entirety of our stay. You would think that staff would service it the first evening after being found. And how could they not see it? Doesn’t someone walk the grounds for quality control? Some shrubbery was well kept and others were overgrown. The towels are very mid grade and like sandpaper. A stay at both La Quinta in GA and at Lowes Sapphire Falls this trip had heavenly towels and bed linens, cleaner rooms, and much nicer grounds/common areas than PO Riverside and at a lower price point. Disney you are overpriced and lower quality, much more so than previous years. We have come to Disney and stayed on property around 20 times over the last 20 years, staying at multiple deluxe and moderate hotels. PO Riverside has always been our favorite but we will have to decide if we give it another chance next year. …
We had intended to go back to Orlando & Disney in 2020 but we all know what happend that year. Last time we were here was 2015 and with the announcment of Galaxy's Edge shortly after our return I said "It'll open in 2019, so we should go back in 2020". One Pandemic later and we were ready to return. We previously stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and loved it there but when it came to booking it wasn't availbale so we booked Riverside. When we arrived we were greated by cast members at the front desk and checked in very quickly. We had a meal voucher to collect which took a short time to sort out but that was due to a miscommunication on my email address. Once sorted we were given a map and directed to our room. The room was a bit of a walk away mainly for my girlfriend and she had recenlty undergone surgery so was a bit of a struggle for her while I wrangled two large suitcases. Again, it wasn't an issue as it was only the once where we had to do that. I had organised an ECV which was at guest services so went and collected that. The cast member returned very quickly with the ECV Our room was very nice, it was lovely and modern, had plenty space for just the two of us and just needed to move the table slightly to get the ECV in close enough to a plug/outlet to charge it. We were in Building 16 so had a smaller pool just outside our building which was very handy as it was never as busy as the main pool and we never expereinced anyone being overley loud while using it. The food hall was nice, the food on offer was as I remembered. Simple and tasty. Can't really ask for much more. We mainly had breakfast there but we split a pizza one night and I think maybe twice we mobile ordered food and I took it back to our room when we were too tired to go out to Disney Springs The General Store was ideal when we realised that the plug to charge an English toothbrush does't work with an American plug so it was manual toothbrushes for two weeks! We bought some beverages and snacks there to take back to the room on a few occasions. House keeping wasn't an issue for us as I've seen in other people's reveiws. I was aware there was more spaced out service but it didn't make a difference to our stay. The room was lovely and clean when we got there and when house keeping did attend to our room (I beleive evey other day), everything that needed changing or cleaned was taken care of. I always saw plenty of staff when we would leave on a morning or if we had a later start or even a resort day The main pool on Ol' Man Island was great. Busy but not packed that you couldn't enjoy yourself. There was a thunder storm warning at one point which forced the pool to be closed but we went to Muddy Rivers Pool Bar for some drinks and a snack while we waited and it was really nice. We were going to go anyway but the storm warning had us go ealier than expected. The frozen JD & Coke was incredible. We ate at Boatwrights but weren't blown away by it. I've not included that in this reveiw as I feel it's seperate enough to warrent it's own reveiw. Overall, Port Orleans Resort - Riverside was great. I think we prefer the more quieter setting of French Quarter but this was a lovely hotel. I'd definitley consider returning in the future…
This was our first time at Port Orleans Riverside and we could not have been happier..from the front desk to the gift shop to the food court..it was all wonderful and calming...all the cast members were very helpful and accommodating. The transportation busses and water taxis were fast and efficient and we loved the boat to Disney Springs! It was so calming and soothing! Our handicapped room was clean and the bathroom with roll in shower spacious. The best hidden secret is Boatwrights Dining Hall..the food is Cajun style but very good and portions are plentiful..the shrimp and grits were wonderful, as well as the Cajun chicken...we loved it so much we went back a second time! All in all the resort is wonderful!!
Great resort with a little disney magic. Check in process was great with the digital check in. YEE-HA BOB is a must see! This resort is comparable to other mid-type disney resorts. We had a premium room which was located closer to the lobby. Only complaint is the size of the room. I'm used to the one or two bedroom, so being in a studio made me feel a little cramped. The family drove to the french quarter side for beignets...YUM! The french quarter side looked a little nicer...property wise. Other complaint was that you didn't have a clue when the princesses would show. The cast members did not have a clue when they were scheduled to be there.
I’m a bit late writing this review but wanted to share our experience as other people seem to be having the same issues. We have stayed at POR 3 times, the first and second were amazing but this visit left a sour taste. Positives: The grounds are beautiful, the staff are pleasant, good transportation (especially the boat to Disney springs) Negatives: The food this time wasn’t very appealing. I ordered the penne pasta and marinara which I watched them make. He didn’t drain the pasta, just threw it in the bowl and added the sauce and it was all just floating around in the water in the bottom, it was really off putting. This is the first time going without a dining plan so maybe I was being more fussy. The main disappointment and the reason we have been put off staying at Disney is the lack of Housekeeping. We stayed for 19 nights and after day 7 asked at the reception if we could please have the room cleaned, we were ignored and came back to the usual change of towels and emptied trash. We went to reception the next morning but the queue was huge and we didn’t want to be late to the parks so we left thinking maybe they’ll get around to it today. On day 10 we went back to reception and explained we had already asked for a clean, they apologised and said they would request a deep clean while we were out. We got back and I think the floor had been swept and they had wiped down the table but other ledges, sinks, toilet or bath hadn’t been cleaned and the beds had not been touched. I was just so frustrated because we paid so much to be there and waited so long because of Covid etc and was just being ignored! After a few days we went back and asked again and explained but still nothing. We just gave up because it was taking up lots of time. I don’t think it’s asking much to have a full clean a couple of times over 19 nights! I have just read that Disney have brought back full housekeeping for the deluxe resorts, PLEASE PLEASE bring it back for others. When we got back home I made a complaint to Disney and again heard nothing, very disappointing. …
We loved the easy access to Disney transportation. We loved the easy of check in/out. We were extremely disappointed in the housekeeping. We understand that Covid is still a thing, but we don't understand why making the beds is a problem and why the rooms are only serviced every other day. On top of that, when the maids did service the room - they didn't add coffee or creamer. They only dumped the trash and provided new towels. When you pay this much for a hotel stay, you expect better. Also, the pool boasts of a slide. There was not a slide. The hotel boasts a arcade. The arcade was very disappointing as many of the games were broken and there was no one there to service. We spent $50 on cards for our kids to play and they didn't even use all of it as they were bored. Pretty disappointed Disney.…
We are in the middle of our 7 night stay at Disney Port Orleans Riverside and so far it has been very underwhelming. Disney's theme park magic is not present here. No other hotel will get away with this level of service but Disney does because of its name. 1. When you booked in a hotel on a vacation, you don't expect to have to make your own beds or clean the room. Not in Port Orleans. Here room service doesn't change the sheets or vacuum. They are only supposed to change the bins and towels every other day. How can you manage a clean room with this level of service when you have little kids. This is our 4th night and so far beds have not been made. 2. It's a beautiful location with river flowing in the middle of the property. But rooms are very dated. We have the highest level of room in the resort but it's not great. Bathrooms are small and old. 3. Food is probably the worst part of Port Orleans. It takes exceptionally hard work to get basic things like mashed potatoes and pancakes wrong. But they did. I had better expectations from Disney and our previous experience with Disney resort in Hawaii was excellent. This is no match for it. On reflection, I should have booked one of independent hotels in Disney Springs area. …
This is by far my favorite Disney Resort. It's on the smaller side and has a beautiful walking path between there and Port Orleans French Quarter. The boat to Disney Springs is VERY convenient. The main pool area is very shaded, which in the dead of summer would be great, but if it's on the more chilly side I recommend using one of the smaller pools scattered throughout or to go to the French Quarter pool!
6th time staying here and already booked for April of this year Love this place!!! The rooms the pools the food but especially the staff!!!! Doug the concierge is an outstanding person! I work in customer service and he is incredible On a scale of 1-10 I rate him a 20!! Best customer service I have ever received
This is yet another Disney resort, whether one is staying there or not, that is a pleasant place to visit. Strolling the grounds and/or river, exploring the general store, taking a boat ride to Disney Springs and back, and/or taking a horse drawn carriage ride around the resort; one can enjoy several very relaxing hours. And, an immersion into an environment that maybe never really historically existed, but is a comforting temporary escape nonetheless.
