My grandson who is 2 yrs oldwas in distress in the pool and not one lifeguard jumped in to help. As we were running towards him and screaming for the lifeguard who was 2 ft away from him to help, my 6 yr old grand daughter who was 5 ft away and playing, heard our screams and swam to him to save him. when we questioned the lifeguard he said he thought the child was playing. Shameful
We stayed here in August in a queen room and was so impressed with this hotel. The rooms are big, with good air-con and lovely decor. A standard room has a tv, safe, small fridge, coffee maker, iron & board and a hairdryer. Beds are so comfortable and the rooms have a good shower, toilet with separate sink/vanity area. I liked the little touches such as ice dispensers on each floor, water bottle refill stations, free toiletries that are restocked with each room clean, free to use pool towels and numerous charging stations in the room and in the seated public areas. The on-site cafe is great, especially if you have kids. Lots of breakfast items, snacks, ice cream and meals to eat in or take out. Pizzas are good. The refillable Endless Summer cups are a great idea and saved us a fortune on soft drinks. They can be refilled around the pool or in the cafe and extra days are just $3 per day. They can even be used for coffee in the cafe/or to go. Staff are a credit to the hotel and very helpful. As we were staying for three weeks we were given a reduction in our on-site hotel parking, half price! I thought this was a lovely gesture. The parking lot is great as it’s covered so your car doesn’t get hot, a godsend in August! The pool area is lovely with plenty of beds, shades and safe for families as the water isn’t too deep. There are jackets available for children to use in the pool and they offer free swim nappies too. We didn’t use the laundry facilities but they looked good and are available on two floors in each tower of the hotel. As some reviewers have commented you can hear people in adjacent rooms on a morning and maybe coming back after the parks but it’s not a dealbreaker. I think some of it is due to there being connecting doors between rooms. I didn’t find it a problem. I liked where the hotel was situated, easy to find and near lots of our favourite eateries such Red Lobster, Denny’s and IHOP. There’s a good sized Walgreen’s just over the road too. Great stay!…
So-so on cleanliness. Housekeeping forgets to clean rooms or simply do a bad job. Parking is too far away from rooms. Starbucks made all my orders wrong, one day they gave my food to another person. The only good thing about this hotel is that it's close to the parks and the free bus. This was not any better than any Orlando budget hotel but on the website and its pricing they sell it as a notch below a Four Seasons. Lousy.
Simple, newer, vclean, comfortable and hr early entrance a huge help to catch my daughter’s Harry Potter favorites. Snack bar fairly reasonable and easy to access. Not looking for a Ritz Carlton, but a clean comfortable convenient place to stay w/ park perks.
Clean, modern and comfortable. Nothing but good things to say. Stayed 2 nights 2 bedroom unit. Clean and comfortable. Hotel pool, pool bar, quick service restaurant, Starbuck, gift shop, and quick efficient and free bus service to Universal was all great. Would stay here again and highly recommend.
I booked two suits under two separate reservations. When I arrive, they tell me I only booked one suite. I showed proof of payment and I was asked for them to tell me they had to figure out what went wrong and that they’re low on rooms. I never even formally met the person on the back end who should have apologized and the front desk did not want me to say his name - lack of accountability. Disney World hotels would have never treated me like this. Hotel was very clean and so upset this ruined my experience l. I guess confirm your stay before you arrive.
This was a great way to stay at a Universal hotel without feeling like we spent extra $ to do so. That being said, we are in our mid 40s traveling with 2 teens and I felt like I was staying at a younger generations place. We had the 2 bed suite. Pros: Bus ride is only 5 min, drops off close, and runs constantly, very convenient! There is food onsite, including Starbucks with little to no wait unlike trying to get a table within an hour in City walk. Staff is very friendly and helpful, even a text line to ask questions during your stay. Park desk to buy, upgrade, or even just print tickets upon arrival. Pool is heated. Self-serve Laundry onsite. Did a regular sized load! $3 to wash (30min), $3 to dry (1hr), and $3 for soap (*brought my own tide pod) Middle of floors 4 & 7. Did mine Saturday morning and never saw anyone else. Beds were comfy. Water pressure was good. Parking was fine. We used Turo and found a car that was delivered to the hotel. I was available to meet the host in the morning and check in the car and meet her again when she picked it up the next night. But you have to use a hotel key to access ALL the parking in OR out, so not sure how she would have dropped it or got it back otherwise. Parking was $15 for 1 night. Cons and Tips: Not exactly quality bedding. Had we drove there I would have for sure brought my own blanket. This is where I really felt like we were staying at some college kids place. Thin walls. Could hear everyone else getting ready in the morning next door, but we were too. Also noticed the pool area music was quite loud while we had a late start Saturday morning while taking a break from the parks. Was glad I wasn't trying to nap. I feel lucky that we didn't have actual problems with noise as it was Spring Break. If you are OVERLY sensitive to other people's noise, just don't stay here. Not really enough space for bags etc. We had 3 large suit cases that we lived out of by opening and sliding under the space under the foot of each bed. Thank goodness we didn't have a 4th bag- I have no idea where we would have put it! TIP: Bring Command Hooks to hang towels and jackets and lanyards and whatever else you can imagine!! There's PLENTY of wall space. If you need an extra table to put things, you can set up the ironing board just inside the door. Definitely a lot of little lights on the TV, the clock etc etc etc. I travel with black electrical tape because I am very sensitive to these when I sleep. I need it pitch black! There was also light around the door. I didn't mind this go around and was surprisingly conscious that it wasn't bothering me, but I was exhausted. But you've been informed. Towels are thin and very reminiscent of fine sand paper. Toilet paper is about .25 ply, just like the parks. There you have it. Had a great time on our vacation. Very much looking forward to my next Adult only get away. …
I’ve been coming to Universal and staying on property for almost a decade and have (now) stayed at all the properties. With prices going up and coming during a busier time, I wanted to save as much as I could, so I took a gamble on this hotel. I have to say that it didn’t disappoint! Pros: - It’s the lowest in cost (tied with Dockside) on property - even cheaper with passholder discounts! - It’s very easy to navigate! - It’s smaller than Dockside, so I found the wait for elevators to be less long. - I got a complimentary pool view room upgrade upon arrival, and I’ve never gotten one before at any other hotel! (Have stayed at Sapphire Falls probably 50 times for reference). - The workers are very nice. - They have a $7 kids three piece chicken tender meal that comes with fries and a bottle of water and it’s perfect for lunch. - They have the 2-bedroom suites, and they are perfect for a bigger group. Cons: - The walls ARE thin! I always ask for a highest floor room though and usually am kept away from the noise. - The beds are not the greatest. They give you two tiny pillows and thin blankets. They do the job, but they are nothing special. - There is no water taxi, so the shuttle bus is the only option. The wait back to the hotel after a long day in the park was a bit long, but it is spring break season so it’s to be expected. The wait for Cabana and for Dockside were longer though! - I don’t love the pool, but it it’s awful by any means. There’s music and was able to get a chair and relax. Just being an other property snob 😋. I stayed at Dockside a few months back and prefer this one for sure. The employees are nicer and the vibe was just better overall. It isn’t a favorite, but I’d definitely stay here again if my budget called for it! ☀️🍹💛.…
We got a good deal on this hotel on property and had to try it out. Was a family suite with 2 rooms and a bathroom. It got you access 1 hour early to the parks with bus transportation. It slept 6 guests comfortably and I thought the value was amazing for the price. I would definitely stay there again.
We enjoyed the hotel, the pool, the sand bar, Starbucks & even the arcade area. Overall the experience was great! They helped make our trip enjoyable & easy for the entire family. I definitely recommend staying!
