This hotel is so much fun. Our favorite part? The lazy river. You can buy pool floats from them, then once your trip is over you can turn those in and they’ll exchange them for brand new, packaged ones. The food options aren’t too thrilling but that’s to be expected. The rooms need work. You can see the wear and tear and it feels like housekeeping doesn’t always do the most thorough job. Also, the beds are marketed as “queen” size but those were full beds, so the sleeping arrangement was a bit uncomfortable. All in all, we would definitely stay again.
As someone who has stayed in a good number of Disney hotels over the years, this was my first stay in a Universal property. I traveled with my wife and sons (both aged 12) and we stayed for a few nights. This place is fantastic, it has a great theme with 50s vibe, two wonderful pools, but the icing on the cake was the lazy river! Our boys spent hours in that, it was a highlight of the trip. Meals were great with plenty of options, the staff were awesome, and the transport to the Universal parks was reliable and efficient. We’d happily stay here again!
Love, love, love Cabana Bay Beach Resort at Universal Studios!!! I've stayed here twice, and will definitely stay here the next time I'm at Universal. This 1960's themed resort is fun and provides a fantastic vacation. Even if you don't go to the parks, this resort has so much to offer. The grounds are gorgeous, with lots of palm trees. The pools are clean with either a lazy river, or a water slide, depending on which pool you go to. The pool bar and quick grill offer up great drinks and food. The Mediterranean Plate at the Atomic Grill is beautiful and delicious. In addition to sandwiches chicken tenders, and fries, they also had fresh cut up fruit. The pool area has a sandy area, and also a large hot tub. There were plenty of pool chairs, umbrellas, and clean pool towels. Restrooms are in 2 different areas of the pools. The rooms are super clean, quiet, and very comfortable. The family suites are perfect and worth the extra bucks. If I needed extra towels or blankets, they arrived in less than 30 minutes, which I think is amazing at such a huge resort. Staff are friendly and helpful. The Bayliner Diner restaurant is set up like a food court. Lots of choices. The made-to-order omlettes are great, as are the Cabana Bay cheeseburgers, pizza, spaghetti & meatballs..really everything! There is a nice salad bar too, and entrees from around the world. The seating is plentiful, and there are drink stations in at least 4 places in the dining area. The best part is watching the commercials from the 1960's on the numerous large screens. The resort has a Starbucks, a very nice gift/souvenir shop, a lobby bar, live music most days, a bowling alley, a game room, a well-equipped workout room, and an ice cream/baked goods shop. In the evenings, they show a movie out by the pool, and also have a bonfire. The Bayliner sells sticks and marshmallows that quite a few people bought for their time at the bonfire. Accessibility if you are in any kind of mobility device is really excellent, unless you are trying to get to Volcano Bay. If you go there, you better have someone with you to open the heavy doors, and get you through the pool gates. Accessibility to the parks is seamless. The bus drivers are wonderful at getting the mobility devices on and off. Universal Parks are very close to Cabana Bay resort, which is perfect after a long day at the parks...you'll be back at the resort quickly. We seriously love this place, and I always wish I was staying another week.…
The facility was fantastic except for the food which was all cafeteria style premade food. No place to sit and order a decent meal. The pool area was nice and clean the water warm and inviting. Very clean and the only thing keeping me from going back is the food selection.
We have been staying at Cabana Bay since you opened and even more so since Volcano Bay open. Always had a great experience except for this past trip. This was the 1st time we had the gotten lucky enough to get the 2 bedroom suite in the tower. Thinking that we would get a great view of the park we were disappointed. We had the view of the service area for volcano Bay from the second floor. Room 7215 sat just above the fence line with full view of the backstage workings. Alot of which occurred during the late night through the early morning hours. Very loud trucks with thier backup alarms, the throwing of empty kegs, food deliveries, loud workers yelling at each other over the noise. Needless to say we didn't get a single good night's sleep during our 3 nights at over 600.00 a night. I called within the 1st 10 minutes of checking in to have the room changed, but was told there was no availability. This must have been because of the KSA spring training event that had thousands of teenagers running all over the resort. I know that the behavior of those young adults are beyond the control of the resort, but maybe more security would have helped deter some of the disruptive behaviors.…
Our stay here was excellent from check-in to check out. The staff is very friendly and eager to help. They texted us when we got to the room and we were able to text any questions and concerns and they would text back within a few minutes. We asked everything from wifi connection to restaurants in the area, park information and more. This was such a convenience. The pools were lovely and I loved the lazy river. They have a Starbucks and a nice dining area with several food options. We liked the international food. The shrimp stir fry and jerk chicken were so delicious. I’ve read bad reviews about the number of students there making a lot of noise. When we were there they were very respectful. Did they laugh and have a good time? Of course. We stayed in the Beachside tower which was very quiet. We used the fitness room which was clean and well equipped. The bowling looked fun but we didn’t have time to enjoy that . We would definitely Otelo stay here again.…
Cabana Bay is perfectly located right next door to Volcano Bay water park! They have everything you need at the resort. Transportation to the parks was easy and fast. If you close down the park and want to get back to the hotel faster than waiting on the long lines at the buses, take the resort walkway it’s only a mile to Cabana Bay. The walkway starts at the bridge by Margaritaville. We got to the room before the rest of our party every night. It’s well lit and a nice peaceful walk away from the crowds!
It was cold the first 2 days then shot up to 90. We were able to do the water park and I’m so greatful the cold weather broke. It was amazing. The weather is cool in mornings extremely hot around noon when the theme parks start to get really crowded so i recommend hopping a shuttle back to cabana bay and walking to the water park. Then shuttle back around 5:30. Everyone is eating dinner and tired so the lines are dying down. Ice water in the free style machines are free. Bring a foldable silicone cup. It will save you $5 on each drink you buy. Also the hotel has no microwave but you can take a hot plate or electric skillet and a cooler with your own breakfast foods. This will save you $50 to $60 each morning. Make your own breakfast or lunch. Plan plan plan so you can experience as much as you can. Also the parks are non smoking. A jul E cigarette in tobacco flavor with 5% really helps. It’s not fruit flavored but it doesn’t have a odor so you can puff as you walk and nobody really notices or cares …
Noise was unbearable. From 9:30 pm on teenagers visiting from sports teams ran amuck up and down our hall. Yelling. I’m a good sleeper and I was waken up three times. I went down to the front office and I was so mad and they had only ONE manager for the entire complex. If you are coming here for a family vacation, be forewarned this place is rowdy. Nobody will do anything to help. I told them that after 11 pm I am calling the sheriff. A total crap vacation.
Cabana Bay is an excellent resort with numerous activities, food options and close proximity to Universal and non-Universal shopping and fun! Both pools are huge and offered plenty of seating. Will definitely visit again!
