Detailed Reviews
We spent five nights at Marriott Legends Edge at Bay Point at the beginning of November. Our two bedroom villa was spacious, welcoming, spotless and very bright and cheery. We were in the Azalea building and had a great view It would have been nice to have the pool open but we knew when booking it was being remodeled so we were good with that. Everyone at the Legends was friendly and helpful. A shoutout goes to Debbie (the concierge) who suggested some great places to eat and also to Lisa who is part of the Activities Team. We only did one of the activities but every time we saw her she stopped to chat with us and asked if we needed anything. Both are an asset to the Legends. We had not spent timenice in the Panama City area of Florida before but enjoyed our five night visit. It was not having the huge crowds and traffic jams that we here are there in the summer months. We especially enjoyed our dinner at Uncle Ernie's - good food and beautiful sunset. Captain Anderson's was close to the Legends and had good seafood.

We booked at a killer rate, right before school started back. We were impressed with the price and with the staff before we arrived, as we called several times with questions and they were very patient with us - and easy to reach upon direct dial to the actual front desk!
You need to know the resort is unique in that it is in a gated residential community called Bay Point. You have to use a pass to enter and exit. It is very relaxing and quiet and secure. They do a good job of separating residents from tourists, likely for the residents' benefit. There's a gorgeous view of the bay, a beautiful golf course and a very relaxed vibe. Friendly to families though - no crotchety old retirees sneered at our kids playing, and families did a good job of respecting the child free folks trying to relax. Very good vibe.
Room was as spacious and pretty and equipped as the photos show. Beds were comfy, along with the sofa beds - HOWEVER... the master King bed was mercilessly loud. This created some... issues. But it was very comfy.
You should also know it's about 15-30 mins from various parts of Front Beach Rd. / PCB "proper". That worked perfectly fine for us but I could see it being a disappointment for someone not realizing the location. There's retail about 6-9 mins away. The Bay area is a whole area itself to discover- less commercial.
None of these things were a big enough deal to cause us to drop from 5 stars, but in full disclosure because nowhere is perfect, Here's what we wish was different:
-squeaky master
-master temp was comfortable but always several degrees warmer than the rest of the unit.
-no plastic plates for taking food outside, only ceramic
-check-in was a little tedious as there was only 1 staff member checking in 3 of us who arrived at once around 7 pm and answering the phones. The guest in front of us was a real jerk about it. We were kind and patient about it but did share his frustration on the inside after a loooong drive to have to wait.
-pool area tiles were a little loose in spots - they are closing the pool to renovated from Sept- Jan so this will be addressed.
We were THRILLED with this place - cant wait to go back.

We returned to Bay Point with three generations in one villa. It was enough space for us and everything was clean. The kitchen is well appointed and allows you to prepare meals easily. This is not a partying, wild Spring Break type of facility. It’s the families swimming and playing games/watching movies together vibe. At night the pool area closes and they clear the deck. It is typically quiet at night- no blaring music or honking horns.
It is NOT directly on a beach, but St. Andrew State Park is not far (5-8 minutes away) and affordable for beautiful beach access. There is also free public beach access down Front Beach Road. There are restaurants available nearby, and more opening soon! I would NOT visit Bay Point without a mode of personal transportation. You can use the nearby BlueGreen Hotel’s restaurants but the area has many delicious offerings just off property. If you want relaxation and pretty sunsets you will enjoy this area. The staff were all friendly and helpful!

We visited this vacation club for one night just to explore it for future vacation purposes for our family. We were aware that the entire pool complex was closed for renovation, but we wanted to see what the property offered as a resort destination. Unfortunately, we were assigned to a Room with no view at all, and with all of the splash pad equipment piled against the screens of the lanai during renovations. I think there is a nice view higher up, but I would not know based on my first floor room assignment. It is a small property with only two buildings and no food service of any kind. If you are on a high floor, I believe you would have a view of the water and sunset. Also, there was a very very annoying sound which sounded like a pump or the kind of sound that gives you a headache, which started at 6 AM. We were in the Azalea building on the first floor. I could not have tolerated that sound for a week … or even a day. I really wanted to like it because I am a Marriott vacation club owner in Hawaii and enjoy all of their other locations but this one just sort of escapes me. If you have a high room with a view and you don’t have whatever that horrible sound was and you don’t care if there’s no food service I guess you might like it.

Please make sure you don't use Airbnb (even if you see it offered) to reserve a condo at this resort. Host/Owner canceled my fully paid reservation 2.5 days before my trip, with no valid reason or justification, they just texted me with a "sorry" message. Sorry was I that they messed up with other reservations we had tied to this one, sorry that they ruined our three month in advance planned vacation. Be aware, and book only directly with the hotel. As the hotel personnel recommended when I called to find more about this, they couldn't find ANY reference of my reservation - They told me the condo owners are NOT allowed to post their properties in Airbnb so don't risk your vacation and the disappointment to your family that comes with it. Even though my money was reimbursed it didn't make it better as sadly was too late to find anything else this Memorial Day week so we had to stay home instead. Airbnb wouldn't/couldn't help us with other options and Marriott Edge even less as it was not their fault I went through Airbnb... They should enforce some penalties to owners that play with potential guests! situation...!

We had 4 nights at the legend. The front desk personnel were not very helpful. When we questioned the location of our building the clerk wasn’t willing to come to the front door and point which building he preferred to just call it the blue building. Maybe in the day light this would be obvious, but at night, not so much.
We had two couples and had called the evening before to give the name of the other couple and requested that they could check in if the arrived before us. On the call it was no problem, we will note on our system. The other couple arrived first and couldn’t check in!!! The meet the public staff were indifferent and not available.
The concierge was to be available at either 9 or 10 am. When we checked in we were told that concierge wasn’t coming in.
The room was a little out dated the the furniture was uncomfortable.
The most helpful, friendly people we met were the front guard station and a maid pushing a laundry cart in the pool area.
The one plus of the Legends was the location. It is close drive to the beach and restaurants and has handy parking.
We felt safe regarding Covid-19 while on premises. If fact Florida seems to handle Covid-19 correctly. I wonder how much of the lackadaisical staff attitude is due to reduction in staffing because of Covid-19.

We stayed in a 2 bedrooms for 4 nights. Agree with many reviewers that the rooms needs some update. The beds are comfortable, but the sofa beds really need to be replaced. They are old and dirty. In the kitchen area, we didn't have all the utensils, we stays in Marriott's resort at least 1-2 times/ year, so we are familiar with what should be included. The dishwasher doesn't do a good job cleaning, a lot of times the dishes still came out dirty. It was obvious the pillow cases weren't changed when we checked in, because I can smell the perfume from it. We asked for new one and replaced all of them ourselves. The laundry and dryer are full size which is nice for our large family size. This is a very nice resort in a nice area, I just hope they can improve on housekeeping and keep the place more up to date.

We stayed at this resort about a week ago as part of an early birthday present for me from my husband.
The room to which we were assigned was vey updated, clean and spacious; however, the view was of the parking lot and golf area. We checked in late and the staff persons at the front desk advised us the resort was at 100% capacity, but suggested we check with the front desk again the next morning.
The next morning, we spoke with some very courteous staff who advised they would have to speak with their supervisor and call us back. Within minutes, the front office supervisor Lathasha King called us back and informed us we could be moved to a room with a view of the pool. We were in the new room, which was also clean, updated and spacious within an hour of the conversation with Ms. King.
Even though the weather was chilly and rainy in Panama City during our visit, the warm and pleasant responses from Ms. King and the front desk staff made up for the weather.
We will definitely visit again!

Our two bedroom, two bath suite with a full kitchen, dining room and living room was roomy and nicely furnished. The beds were comfortable; there was good lighting and plenty of hot water. Our unit was spotless when we arrived. Lots of towels, including towels for the pool.
Cleaning is weekly only, but you could pay for additional cleaning. The housekeepers were very nice and would provide towels, kleenex, toilet paper, etc. if you asked.
There also was a washer and dryer in our unit. The washer was incredibly noisy, but got the clothes clean. I suggest you not use it when you are going to bed. Best would be as you are getting ready to go out! Same with the dishwasher.
Our fifth floor view was over the nicely landscaped pool area.
Lunch was offered at poolside on Tuesdays and Thursdays for just a few dollars. The freshly grilled bratwursts were excellent as were the fish tacos. There were other items from the like hamburgers, but we hadn’t tried those. A singer accompanied by his/her guitar performed during lunch as well as a bit before and after. Lots of familiar tunes for baby boomers.
A poolside bar with draft beers and wine seemed to be open all day and into the evening with a happy hour at variable times several times during the week.
There were a variety of other activities that we didn’t participate in and a gym. Crafts for kids were offered too.

We vacationed at Legend’s Edge from
Jan 28 - Feb 3, having last visited in June 2021. Our villa felt newly remodeled, even though we know that renovations were actually completed in spring 2021. Everything was clean and well maintained. Our villa was fully stocked and ready when we arrived.
I was impressed that Brian Ponton and Crystal Speights were still employed as guest services agents. Crystal called 3 weeks prior to our arrival to ask for our villa preferences and was able to grant our request by placing us in a quiet end unit in the Bluebell building. Brian kindly answered a lot of last minute questions and emailed me the current activities schedule as requested. Danielle assisted us at check in. Debbie Toney helped us plan some great winter excursions during our stay, and LeMarcus & Blake answered questions regarding best times to plan future visits.
Our housekeeper, Pamela, was kind and responsive. Our villa was so clean that it felt new!
Note — the Sheraton at Bay Point was recently sold to Bluegreen Vacations, which is a Hilton Vacation Club time share. During our visit, we were still able to access the pier and beach at Bay Point but are uncertain that this will be possible in the future. The pool bar there, Flip Flops, has a new menu. Pelicans was closed. It appears that an extensive remodel is underway. If access to the pier and beach were prohibited, our future stays at Legend’s Edge would be adversely affected, since there are no other restaurants within walking distance.
Legend’s Edge remains one of our favorite Marriott Vacation Club properties. It is a beautiful, quiet, and peaceful resort where you can relax and unwind, enjoying beautiful sunrises, sunsets, and recharge!
