We have been trying out Choice Hotels Extended Stay places. This one has much less to offer then a Mainstay. There are very limited dishes, stove top without any pans, refrigerator that isn’t very cold, no paper towels or Kleenex, no bed spread, no food of any sort including breakfast, coffee is only the type you make in your room, one thin towel per person, no lotion or conditioner, drains that work properly. The floors are a variety of hard surfaces, so slippery if wet. The only furniture is a table with 2 chairs, desk with a chair. There is room for a love seat or comfortable chairs but they do not have them. A $100 deposit is required, no exceptions. Refunds are 3-5 days after check out.

This is an extended stay hotel. It's not geared for stays of a few nights. I booked an overnight, on points, because it was the cheapest. It's cheap for a reason. It suited my purposes, but it's not for everyone.

Pros: the room was clean. The room has a kitchenette.

Cons: the room is somewhat stripped down. Burnt out light bulbs, missing light bulbs, no hangers in the closet, the shower curtain didn't extend the whole length of the bathtub. The wifi was effectively non-existent. The building has seen better days, and is geared towards longer term residents on a budget. Location is slightly off the beaten track for an overnight.

First thing we noticed was the filthy carpet in the halls; they honestly looked like they had not been vacuumed in weeks (maybe longer). Then when we opened the door to our room the stench almost knocked us down. At 90 degrees the windows were actually open, with the air conditioner open, to try to air out the room. I actually smelled like fresh vomit. My husband called the front desk and asks if they had any room deodorizer and the response was “we ain’t got none of that”. The carpet was stiff with who knows what and sticky. Went to the bathroom and there was no bath towels, hand towels or bath cloths. I called the front desk and ask if we could have these necessities. I was told to come to the front desk and I could have some if they had any. At the desk, I was given 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels. I ask for a hand towel to which the night clerk said “we ain’t got none”. I ask for another bath towel to use as a hand towel and the response was “we ain’t got no more”. This woman had nothing but contempt for anyone that required her to do anything. She was hateful and rude.

If we had not been so tired and after midnight upon arrival, we would have left.

She did however accomplish something. She made us determined to do two things: 1. we will NEVER stay at ANY Suburban Extended Stay Hotel, not only in Pensacola but anywhere – We would rather sleep in our car and go without a shower. 2. Determined that I will write an honest review and post it anywhere and everywhere I can find to keep anyone else from having such a horrible experience.

Worst place I have ever stayed. First nonsmoking room reeked of smoke and mildew. Second room, tried 6 keys before one worked. The door dragged and barely opened, same as bathroom door. Took strength to open and close door. This room smelled bad too. There was a small empty liquor bottle in the elevator. It reeked of pot. Our room reeked of pot every single time we came in. I bought air freshener but it didn’t really help. Our sheets were stained to the point I thought they were dirty, which they probably were. I requested clean sheets but didn’t get them until the next day because “housekeeping was gone for the night”. The towels were taken one day and never replaced until we asked for them. And they too were stained to the point I didn’t want to use them. Disgusting. We had to ask for clean towels two days in a row. There were NO drapes and so it was light in the room all night from the outside lights and then bright and early with the sunrise. We also killed two roaches in the room. The floor was so dirty in the room that our shoes stuck to it. I would never walk barefoot. The hallway carpet was so dirty and worn out. The A/C vents in the halls were sweating and dripping on the floor. Almost every time we came to the room, the key didn’t work. We had to keep trying and trying until it finally worked. I was so grossed out I could barely stand to be in this hotel and will NEVER ever stay here again. It was disgusting. The staff at the desk were friendly but that did not make up for the filth of the hotel and the room. Also the pool was filthy as well, the water was super cloudy and the deck was dirty.

I booked this hotel based on the previous ratings and the pictures on the website which appeared to be exactly what I needed for this trip, nothing too fancy but nice. Unfortunately, this hotel was a let down. I gave it a one star rating only because the price was good. Nothing else was of the quality I expected when staying at a Choice Hotel.

First of all, I reserved a room with a king bed. The bed was NOT a king. The kitchen was not stocked with everything specified. We were also given one towel and one washcloth for 2 people.

Second, our second night there we came in after 8 and our key cards would not work. When we went to the front desk, the lady was not friendly at all and claimed we had a balance and that's why the cards didn't work. When I told her we pre-paid, she then tried to say because we didn't leave our cards in the envelope they gave us that our cell phones deactivated them. My husband questioned this the next day with the manager, and he assured us there was no balance due from us.

Third, housekeeping only "cleaned" our room once in the 4 nights we stayed there. They did not leave additional towels or make up the bed.

Fourth, I killed bugs in our room, one being a cockroach, and the coffee maker looked like it may have had mold in it.

As someone who has stayed in probably 100 hotels in her lifetime, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I would tell everyone I know to spend the money and stay elsewhere.

If I could I’d give this hotel a NEGATIVE FIVE! More so now that they refuse to answer repeated phone calls and emails from us and from representatives from Expedia. (Expedia rules require an authorization from the hotel property to issue a refund) . We had a horrendous experience. The hotel was filthy and in such a state of disrepair that cabinets were falling off the wall, the toilet was not attached to the floor, there were holes in doors (we didn’t notice those until we were on our way out!), trash was piled in the hallways, trash on the floor of our room, the carpeting in our room was so sticky we stuck to the floor!! There was one dirty towel, one pillow and no blanket on the bed at all. The bed and other furniture was rickety. There was no possible way for us to safely (or hygienically) stay in this room!!! We immediately went back to the lobby to say we couldn’t stay… the front desk clerk was not surprised, didn’t offer another room… I’m sure there wasn’t one in any better shape… nor would we have stayed anyway. Being 1:30 am there were no other hotel rooms to be found. My husband and I chose to sleep in our car rather than stay another minute in this hotel!

This hotel is a crap hole…. Upon arrival, as the doors open, the smell hits you in the face the lobby looks decent with the exception of all the “long stay residents” hanging out and all the hallways smell like Marijuana.

The first day we get to our rooms, they look VERY rundown absolutely nothing like the pictures.

The fist room, the carpet is so worn it’s barely there, the stove had longly neglected black on it. The fridge was open, the microwave looked like they had been cooking metal in it, no smoke detector and yellow stains on the pillow cases.

The second room the water in the bathroom tub keeps running won’t shut off. we went to dinner, came back and the floor, carpet, furniture , everything was wet and smelt awful!!!

So we got another room, that room, the stove is on, half the light didn’t work (main light and the bathroom light) some of the plugs didn’t have covers and my daughter got shocked plugging in a charger. There was no smoke detector And there was several cockroaches. At 9pm I was on the phone looking for new rooms. I had 2 and my stepsister had 2, unfortunately we were not able to find anything last minute so we stayed.

The next day we went to a funeral for my parents, went to dinner came back and my room key isn’t working, so We run downstairs for a new key. We get new keys and go to open the door and it’s latched from the inside. Someone was in our room. 🤦‍♀️…. So we go downstairs for a new room and they had to “search” for another room for us. I told them we would just stay in one room and they told me they would give me a refund through Priceline.

Called Priceline, they contacted the hotel and they said they would not refund me for the night they gave my room away.

This is the Worst Hotel I've ever stayed in and they are Robbing people legally. Everyone needs to report this place to the Health Department. They have no comforters. The room is very dirty, plumbing is bad. The Water Smells like poop and Urine. The Halls smell like Mold and Cannabis. The Staff is Rude and Unprofessional. The Manager Chris said one of his staff has an old Weave in her head and that it's shedding in the Rooms. Sheets have Stains and apparently this place needs to be closed Down. If you Contact Choice hotels they only offer points. This hotel taught me a valuable lesson and I'll spend Good money next time I'm in Florida. They mislead you with their online Pics. They are all lies. People are Driving Long Drives to Get here and what they're doing should be Illegal.
