The Dixie Belle is a casual, clean, quiet, safe slice of roadside America. Owners, Chris and Marla Kenney are always on property. As is Manager Kasey Davis. Rates are very reasonable and vary with the seasons. October through March are bargain months. Although built back in the 60's and a bit small by modern standards, all rooms have been completely updated since hurricane Michael and feature memory foam mattress, flatscreen TV, mini-frig, coffee maker, and microwave. Kitchenettes come with full size refrigerator, oven/stove, coffee maker, and microwave.

While on a day trip to Mexico Beach with our two girls, my husband and I decided to stay overnight at the last minute. After checking around Mexico Beach and finding either no vacancies or outrageous prices, we expanded our search and found Dixie Belle online. The pictures on their website looked nice and neat enough, but those pics are always nicer than the rooms are in real life, right? Let me tell you, they are spot on in this case! The motel is old and the rooms are small, but they're quite adequate and very well maintained. The linens are clean, the towels smell great, and the bathrooms are spic and span.
The owners are friendly, no nonsense folks who take pride in their ability to offer a clean place to lay your head at a very reasonable price. As Michele told me at check in, "We don't have much to offer, no pool, no beach access. But we do take great pride in cleanliness." And just so you know, there's a great, quiet beach just a quarter mile down the road!
We'll definitely be visiting this gem of a find again. The hubs and I are already planning a return trip without the kids! I've already told lots of people about this wonderful spot and can't wait to visit again.

If you are planning to make a trip to Florida. Consider this motel. Great staff, Super friendly, calm friendly environment. I had high expectations for this trip. I have been blown away. this has turned into one of the greatest vacations I have ever been on. minutes from two of the best beaches I have ever been on and I am from West Michigan and I know beaches. If you have not been to this side of Florida you may be missing out on a great trip. For sure I am coming back!!

Wow, It's always good to hear of exceeded expectations, however I'm realistic enough to understand that the Dixie Belle had only a small part to play. The Forgotten Coast is awesome to people who have never experienced the old real Florida.

I didn't expect much, but I did expect a clean environment. My first clue should have been the filthy office and the cat that was allowed to climb across the counter while I was checking in. Fine, no big deal. Another clue was she demanded payment up front for both nights, which I complied with.
We got into the extremely outdated room and decided we could stay the night, despite the horrific smell outside. We got up early the next day to explore the property a bit and I looked out the window of our room to see the cause of the smell - it is the biggest litter box I have ever seen. Really - there is an approximately 10'x12' area that is fenced in, filled with disgusting sand and cat perches. It is literally a huge litter box that is 4' from the front window of the room.
I was disgusted and appalled but the office was closed and we took off for the day, taking our belongings with us. I called back the the office later in the day to tell them we would not be returning to their disgusting environment and requested a refund for the second night. Surprise, surprise, the owner was unavailable to speak with me.
When I finally did receive a follow up call from the owner he flatly denied the existence of the HUGE LITTER BOX OUTSIDE MY ROOM and refused to refund the money.
The place is horrific but I realized they need the $105 much more than I do and I let it go, knowing if I warn others about this place karma may sort itself out.
If for some reason you decide to spend money and time at this place, get a room as far away from the office as possible. The whole property is in disrepair and of questionable cleanliness. You have been warned.

As is the standard for most if not all motels/hotels payment for the entire stay is asked for once you check in. This is not abnormal or unheard of. Yes when we took ownership there was a catio attached to the property. Our cats do not use it, and they have no used it since the issue was brought to our attention. We immediately checked into the smell and could not detect one ourselves. We cleaned the area anyway and again it is not in use. This was done some months ago. We have had no other complaints about this issue.

The motel is clean, cheap and comfortable, however if you value your self at all, do not stay there. The owners are judgemental malcontents who will post on their business facebook page bashing their patrons before you've even checked out.
If you do anything other than sleep in their beds, I'm sure the the whole world will know about it. Do yourself a favor and pick a different motel to stay in.

I have stayed at this location in the past and it was actually a very clean, quiet, and reasonable place to stay. However, the owners are horrible, judgmental people that actually bash there customers on their Facebook page. These people obviously don't have and business ethics what so ever and I will not be returning or recommending this Motel to anyone.

Upon arriving at the motel, we were greeted by an extremely unfriendly staff member. Yes, we got into town late, but we arrived within business hours. The staff member seemed grumpy and extremely annoyed with us. When we got to the room, we discovered dead sand crabs on the carpet, there was old gum stuck to the bedpost, and the kitchen floor had spots where it had been duct taped together. We had to wear shoes the entire time we were inside because the carpet was filthy and it turned our feet black. The shower stall in the bathroom was dingy and grimy... completely unsatisfactory. The few times that we came into contact with the aforementioned staff member, she was unpleasant and unfriendly. We assumed it was because she was displeased with the fact that we were a group of twenty somethings and just the thought of us got on her nerves, but we didn't do anything to annoy her or cause problems. She was just down right rude. The ONLY reason we stayed here was because everything else was booked solid for the weekend. Overall, it was just an unpleasant experience. Had we known before what we know now, we would have booked our trip a different weekend at a different hotel. The way we were treated was just ridiculous. In our opinions, if you are running a hole in the wall motel, the very least you could do is treat your customers with respect. It doesn't matter that we're in our twenties and you don't approve, we're paying customers. We won't EVER stay there again and we don't recommend this motel to anyone, ever.

I am currently spending my 2nd night of my first trip to the Dixie Belle. I have never been to this area before. I had to make a last minute reservation and wouldn't be arriving until 1am. They were nice enough to take my info over the phone and have after hours access to the room key so I could get right in and go to sleep. The room was very clean upon arrival. My room has a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, tv, phone, free wifi and quaint decor. I wasn't expecting any house keeping to be done, but I came back this afternoon to fresh linens and towels. The bed is more comfortable than the one at the Wyndam Hotel I used a few weeks ago in Lynn Haven at $72 a night. The owners are very friendly. The price can't be beat. I will definitely continue staying here for my future visits to the area. Thank you for a pleasant stay that saves me money and will allow me to visit more often.

I had a job to do in Port Joe that was supposed to take three (3) days (Mon Tue Wed) so I checked in on Sunday afternoon with a Thursday morning departure. I paid the bill up front. The job was done early so I checked out a day early and they won't refund my last day. Only if weather related. This is very bad business. The hotel is just as it says, a mom and pop place. It needs a lot of renovation and property clean up and the rooms are not secure. Windows do not lock and when you leave your room the only lock is the door handle and the door does not fit the opening. It was clean enough.

I'm confused with the previous reviews of the Dixie Belle. Maybe some of the rooms are updated? Ours was old, and DEFINITELY not clean or well kept! No offense to the staff (who were very friendly), but I would not walk on the carpet in my bare feet or even socks. WE washed the kitchen floor, and it was filthy. The lighting was awful - we actually bought a camping lantern to put in the kitchen so we could see! The ceiling fan did not work, and our requests to fix it went unanswered. There was an old beach towel hanging up as a curtain in the kitchen. The tablecloth was actually stuck to the table, and one of the chairs fell apart when we sat on it (it was either that, or sit on the bed). All the cupboard doors and drawers (except one) were nailed shut. We had to stay there for 3 weeks during a transition. It was affordable, but that's all I can say. Honestly, I would only plan a stay here if you have NO other place to go, or you're just looking for a basement-budget place. (They may very well be nice people - we had little interaction with them - but I would not EVER recommend a friend or family member stay there.)

Sorry for the long delay in response. We purchased the motel June 2, 2016 in the height of the busy season. It is nearly impossible to make major repairs when rooms are continually occupied. All rooms now have vinyl plank flooring. We are upgrading and repairing all rooms. We will never be a fancy motel. We are casual, clean, and strive to make our guests comfortable.

So sorry but we're sold out that weekend. We are currently booking 3 weekends in advance.
Until May 1, standard rooms with up to 2 guests go for $57 plus tax. After May 1 st it will be $60 weeknights and $65 weekends.
