If you expect a first class hotel in this quiet beach island town, you will be disappointed. This quaint beach hotel is not the height of luxury, but it is a homey, beachy and very friendly place to land. Hotel staff from manager, front desk staff to house leaner staff were friendly and helpful. While the place needs cosmetic work and doors are a bit swollen from the salt air, we had everything we needed to enjoy this lovely quiet island for as long as we needed. Located in the center of all the island offers, you are a short walk to the beach and all island restaurants. Sparks grocery right next door makes day tripping lunches easy and other quick needs easily taken care of. We would definitely stay here again.

Returning guest to this charming old hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful as always, especially during two separate plumbing incidents that resulted in loss of water supply. Both were fixed as promptly as possible, given that this was a holiday weekend. Management was suitably apologetic for the inconvenience and applied appropriate recompense when it came to settling the bill. The room was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Highly recommended!

The location of this property is the plus. It is half a block away from the lighthouse and the beach. The area is super walk able. We walked to every restaurant we went to. One can easily bike from one end of the island to the other. We recommend the state park which is on the eastern end of the island. There is a grocery store right next door to the inn. This older, quaint, facility looks better from a distance. Up close, it needs some deep cleaning and maintenance. The management and staff do a great job of trying to keep everyone happy, but they definitely need some support. There is only one other motel on the island. This one is the best of the two.

This is our second stay here and we absolutely love it. The staff is friendly and super accommodating, it’s clean and the beds are comfortable. The only caveat is make sure you do not get a room close to the candy store next door because they have huge bright lights in their parking lot shining directly onto the balcony, making it impossible to enjoy a glass of wine while relaxing in the evening.

First the good:
Nice location In the middle of town. Walk
to the beach.

Comfortable king size bed
Cool old building

Then the not so good:

Dirty dirty dirty

We visited during this Corona Virus thing. So, we brought along our Clorox wipes just to be extra carefully. You know, wipe the door knobs, the light switches, TV remote, etc. what we found was that every thing we wiped was covered in “grime” sooty, sticky grime. It was as if whoever cleaned the place cane in, changed the linens, did a quick swish of the potty and then left.

Outside walls of the building are covered in “soot”
The paint on the walls was peeling in some places.

I get that it’s an old historic building. But it isn’t cheap. $250 for one night for a ”suite” that had a bedroom and a living room with a sleeper couch. It was kinda cramped. With the sleeper couch unfolded you could barely walk through the living room.

This place could be sooo nice with a little TLC.

No place to put luggage (no luggage rack, no closet) We had to lay luggage on the floor for our 3 night stay. We realized they must have converted the closet into a bathroom. There was no counter space in the bathroom. There was a toilet, basin sink, and a corner shower. All could be touched as soon as you stepped in the bathroom. The shower had mold around the flooring, and the light fixture was covered in rust. In the sleeping area, the curtain rod was hanging at an angle, and it looked like someone had moved the ceiling fan but did not move the original fixture. The back of the inn looked awful! There was trash, an entrance to the basement area with no door, and literally pieces of the inn laying on the ground. We were in the "Total Escape" room but it should have been called "Total Escape From Comfort." The quiet time policy was advertised as "strictly enforced" but the people above us seem to wake up at 5:00 PM and never went to bed all night. We just put in our earplugs and tried to sleep through the "quiet time." The mattress was thin (even though previous written complaints were responded with "sorry, we're working on replacing the mattresses"--these were reviews of 2 years ago) Others have mentioned the thread-bare, mismatched towels, no blankets (thin top comforter and sheet only) and only one side table with a lamp. We discovered there was only one other hotel on the entire island (Buccaneer Inn) Both of these places charge outrageous rates because THEY CAN. They have absolutely no incentive to improve the quality of the place. The only competition are the condos to rent. If you're visiting the area, you'd be better off staying in Apalachicola, Florida and looking into the Gibson Inn. Same prices and MUCH nicer. I've noticed the most recent reviews all speak of the owners and how sweet they are and always ready to help. There are very few comments about the place itself. And the people who appreciated the fact they were glad they didn't get asked to leave because their dogs "barked a bit?" That's what the other paid customers had to put up with because the owners do not enforce the quiet time!

We offer a 24/7 number for any guest to let us know of any disturbances in the middle of the night or in the day time hours. We never mind making things quiet at quiet time. We have replaced many of our Mattresses. WE are in the middle of slowly upgrading and remodeling. We have 19 rooms to choose from all different. Hope that you will come back and revisit one of our many other rooms. We are sorry your stay was not to your satisfaction. We take in all reviews to help us better our INN for future stays. Thank you for your review. We look forward to your next stay with us so we can show that in fact we are working hard to make each and every guest 100% happy! It is our number one goal.

My wife and I stayed there for two nights June 10-12, 2021 and reservations were made via internet based on someone's creative writing. The only reason the place gets a one rating is the friendly lady at the reservation desk and the location. And the site doesn't allow a minus rating.

Our room on the 3rd floor was dirty, all the doors in the place have to be slammed to close, the shower hardly puts out any hot water, the king bed must be as old as the ancient building.
A total overhall with a plumber, handy man painter, electrician, etc is very necessary.
The worst part is the cost which we paid a total of $512.30 for two nights. If the place lived up to their marketing. We wouldn't complain. It falls way short. The bottoms of our feet were black from walking on the dirty floors.

My husband and I visited the St. George Inn while he was in town to officiate a wedding. This was our first trip where we didn't stay at a big chain hotel and I must say that we were thoroughly impressed. Don't go with the expectation of it being a Hilton or a Marriott, go with the expectation of a clean and friendly, cute, boutique accommodation. We stayed in the Seahorse queen bed room and it was perfect for what we needed. The Inn itself was cute, homey and well appointed. The room had basic furnishings, a very comfortable bed, full bathroom with great water pressure, a mini fridge and coffee maker. There are french doors in the rooms leading out onto the wrap around porch, complete with rockers and ashtrays. The staff were helpful yet did not bother us a bit during our stay. The only suggestions I would make would be to take the TV out of the hole in the wall in the room and mount it on the wall to make it easier to view, and to add charging docks on the night stands to allow phone and other devices to be charged as the room has a limited number of outlets. Otherwise, this is a perfect accommodation that is centrally located to anything on St. George Island. We were thoroughly impressed and will definitely be back!

My wife and I are seniors and we have stayed here before. This time we were hoping some updates had been done, but we were wrong. We stayed this time in the Total Escape room. There are so many things that are easy and inexpensive to fix that just aren’t done. For instance:
Bathroom- the bathroom has no towel hooks within reach from the shower. There is no counter space next to the sink. A small table would add a lot of convenience. The shower head is loose and pointed out the shower door. So you have to get in, close the door to wait on hot water. Brrr.
Bedroom- there was one available, working, accessible electrical plug. A taped up power surge bar had only half of the plugs working, and they were taken up by the refrigerator, microwave and TV. Replace the surge protector, run extensions from behind the bed to give power to both sides of the bed. Replace the mattress. No place to hang clothes. Add hooks or hanging bar. Give instructions on how to access TV channels. Very confusing and user unfriendly program. Floor was dirty. Dehumidifier and AC seem to be working against each other. Every time one came on, the other responded, the result being a low roar all night.
The owner should spend a night in each room and ask, “How can I make this room more comfortable?” Then go hire a new maintenance man.

The inn is old, run down, and not well-maintained. No elevator. Stairwell worn. No carts / bellhops. The room was not clean upon arrival (filthy bathroom) and not “cleaned” during our stay — one housekeeping visit during weeklong stay; clean towels availability by request. Questionable housekeeping staff / sanitation practices. Trash bins on porch, in lobby, in lot not emptied regularly — once a week. Rooms need more accessible electrical outlets — those available were used by room equipped lamps, TV, clock or in locations unreachable — no where to charge electronic devices. Major inconvenience. Spotty wifi. Front desk clerk was cheerful and willing but unknowledgeable and inept. Bed needs replacing — uncomfortable, lumpy squeaky mattress, small flat screen TV with poor reception and limited channels. Furniture scratched and worn. Luke warm water in shower with weak stream. The a/c is regulated by management. No thermostat in room for self-adjusting — very cold inside room. No extra blanket provided (yes, in August in Florida). Limited parking. In nice location — shopping, restaurants, beach access, attractions — within walking distance to beach and attractions. Wrap around porch — provides nice views of island, bay, ocean, sunset but is also the gathering place for smokers — inconsiderate people smoking, talking and laughing until very late hours. Obviously, this is not a smoke free establishment as advertised. No quiet hour set. Unruly / active children could be heard from room above ours. Noisy and smoky. Dog, owned by staff, runs loose throughout inn. Dusty and non-sanitized. Old and run down. Overpriced.
Entire place needs a facelift and a “minimum” set of rules.

We are centrally located in the center of St. George Island. Out of our front door to the right a five minute walk to the bay. And to the left a 4 minute walk to the beach/gulf. Everything (except for the state park) is within a 2 block radius.

There are TONS of pet friendly things on the island as well as nearby Apalachicola! Harry A's (on the island) actually has a full menu for pups! Up the Creek in Apalachicola is another awesome pet friendly restaurant with outdoor, screened-in seating, directly on the river! We are also the only pet friendly hotel on the island.
