This is a huge resort. Our room was at the Luau 1 so we didn't have to take the tram to the beach cause it was close enough to walk to it. There are no restaurants. You have to take the tram to the Baytown Wharf. We didn't have to wait long for the tram so that was good. There is one restaurant on the beach you can walk to. I prefer to stay at a resort that has the restaurants right there, at least one. I know this these are condos but they could at least have a food truck or something right there. Our room was beautiful & clean with a sofa & kitchen area. The balcony is extremely small but we did have a partial view of the ocean. I would not stay here again but it is not the type of place I prefer. I like being right on the beach with restaurants right there.

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor but I would recommend a higher floor if you want any kind of view.

Luau Tower 1

This place is super cute with huge windows in the rooms and gorgeous views of the area. We got a King room with a sofa. It has a kitchenette- silverware and glassware included. There are cleaning supplies. There isn't any ice in the building, but Walmart isn't far. There's a BEAUTIFUL view in the Sunset Deck (rooftop) but only one elevator goes there. You'll have to go to the 19th floor on the other elevator and walk up the steps to get there. The Luau towers are right across the street from the beach entry. You could walk if you wanted to.

I have a fear of detached hair, so I usually check the rooms to see if they've been thoroughly cleaned. I didn't see one strand of hair here and the bathroom was impeccably clean. We would definitely stay here again.

If you have the opportunity to stay at another condominium in Destin, do so.

One of the main reason why we chose luau tower 1 unit 7702 and 7704 is because it had washer and dryer. We packed with the knowledge that we would have a washer and dryer.

Day 1, the main bedroom floor was flooded by the broken washer. Maintenance came but couldn’t fix it. They then told me they will give us $20 to do our laundry (ridiculous). Keep in mind it’s coin operated laundry and there’s a coin shortage. My brother had to drive to three places before they could get $10 in coins.

The next day I was told that the washer may not be fixed for our stay and that someone would call me back. I have not heard from anyone. We are now on our third day and there’s still silence from property management. Please re think your stay!

The overall hotel was very a very nice In appearance. However when we went to check into our room and opened the sofa-bed it was disgusting, there was a blood stain and other unknown stains as well as bugs. This experience would have been much more pleasant if it would have been more attention added into keeping the rooms clean for clients. Trash of accommodations.

I am a travel agent and normally stay in hotels so this was my first stay in a condo. We stayed in the Luau 1 bldg on the 18th floor in a 2 bedroom condo #7801. The view was beautiful from this floor. The only downfall of these condos is the walk to the beach, as I'm used to being directly in the beach. The walk was not bad, just inconvenient if you forget something in the room or have a lot of stuff to take with you. I saw parents struggling with getting strollers up and down the steps. They need to have a ramp for this. The condo itself was clean and very well equipped and beautifully decorated.

The property is part of the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, which is huge. The tram system is a little confusing but is nice.

The most bothersome things during our stay was there were no chairs at the Luau 1 main pool and no picnic tables at the grill area. I'm not sure if this was due to Covid, if so it was senseless. There are chairs at all the other pools and restaurants. It just made you go to another part of the resort to relax. Also area busines
ses and restaurants closed at 9pm.

We booked a studio at the luau tower 2. It was a last minute decision to stop and visit Destin. We knew Destin was limited on rooms so we decided to go with this studio. We are a family of 5. The room was big enough for us. The location was good... 4 minute walk to the beach. The community pool is big.
The building is a bit dated but the room 6625 in tower 2 was absolutely disgusting. I always carry clorox wipes and lysol and boy did I have to use it on the room. The walls in ghe bathroom walls were stained, the floor dirty counter tops were sticky faucets were not clean. The floors were not swept. The ceiling fan was covered in dust. The room needs a major deep cleaning!! Do not stay here.

The unit 7002 is clean and new shower curtain. No welcome book in room so guidance was lacking in using wristbands and tram. No access to beach chairs or beach items like other rentals, very disappointed. Also only 3 towels for 5-day stay is ridiculous. In room amenities are nonexistent and underwhelming. No spare sheets or towels. Extra pillows and blanket in chest smell terrible. Thought there was stove/oven and washer/dryer in unit but wrong. Parking area and pay laundry area is dirty. Great view but would sacrifice for better in room amenities. Dishwashing supplies but no dishwasher. Unit lacking owner touches and obviously run by company. Better off finding other unit manger by owner.

Enjoyed our stay here. The view from Tower 2 the 11th floor was grand. This building was closest to the beach but the buildings are right beside each other so you can’t go wrong with either. There is also an observation deck on the 11th floor that overlooks the beach. Didn’t notice it until the last day so make sure to check it out. I liked how the pool depth was max 5 feet. Wonderful hanging out in the pool. They did have a food stand that offered $15 hamburgers and $10 hotdogs with fries or chips and they offered alcoholic drinks there too. Food stand closed around 4:30pm. On the parking garage floor level they had a commercial size ice machine free for use and a soda and snack vending machine. Short 8-10 minute walk down to the beach. We noticed lots of collapsible wagons so my husband ran to the store and bought one. Came in super handy bringing bags, toys, coolers and kid to the pool. Our unit came with a golf cart but you can also rent one. With it you can drive through a tunnel under HWY 98 over to Baytown for fun games, dining and shopping. Would return here again for another family vacation.

Recently stayed in unit 6705 while I had a conference at the Sandestin Hilton. Condo was very close to the Hilton and the building was very clean and nice. Was able to stay in this room for less than half of what the Hilton was charging, also Luau has free parking and no resort fee, but does have a cleaning fee. Particular unit was very similar to a large hotel room and had a nice view of the beach and water. The owner, Marcella, was very easy to work with and very organized in her system which I appreciated.

Took my niece to Destin beach and we stayed at the Luau, walking distance to the beach. The resort was clean, had full kitchen and the views were unbelievable. There’s a tram that takes you to different parts of resorts, villages, shopping center and the marina.

We did zip lining, parasailing, and ate a lot of ice cream.
