Good budget place. actually they will try to rip you abi on money, but we payed 600-700rs per double room. Room was very dark, so don’t expect to much of a sunlight, but they have a nice roof-top with plenty of sun in the mornings good and quiet place to get you breakfast, with some chaii (milk tea) from a... WiFi didn't work in my room but this was the only bad thing. Very friendly staff so helpful with local info, treks, let you borrow books etc. Very comfy beds, hot water, towel included. Great location. Great place ! Quiet enough to sleep well too , even in busy thamel!

Hotel Backpackers is the place to be in the Thamel/Kathmandu area if your looking for a more local experience. It is very reasonably priced and the staff, namely Khrishna, Sudip, and KB are all great guys to sit and play countless games of Rummy with. The comfort level I had was amazing especially with the worry-free, price free, airport pickup.... More

We stayed at the guesthouse for three days and it was very nice. The rooms are basic and clean for a great price and the staff is super friendly. They arranged a trekking for us and we enjoyed our stay! Would definitly recommend it to any backpacker or traveller!

Located on the edge of Thamel, don't expect luxury at this property, but you'll get great value for your money. The rooms are very basic, and like most of Kathmandu you are subject to frequent rolling blackouts so you will be without electrical power for about half the time. But who stays locked inside your hotel room all day? Go... More

This place was good value for money. We were met by one of the staff members on arrival at the airport. They said that since we haven't found a place, they can cab us to their hostel for free if we are willing to at least look at the rooms there to see if we liked it. We were happy.... More

Tucked into a corner of the tourist hub, thamel, hotel backpackers is a perfect spot to chill n relax, and all for the cheapest prices. The staff are welcoming and friendly, and in no time you begin to feel at home. The small courtyard is great for cozy conversations with new and old faces. And for those cold lazy afternoons,... If you don't mind staying in a hotel without electricity most of the day and not the tidiest rooms ever, a broken toilet and mold on the walls - this is the place to be. The hotel is centrally located and cheap and the breakfast is good, compared to other places we've been so far.

The staff here are absolutely wonderful! I was due to stay at another hostel, however on arrival i was told that my room was 'broken' and leaking. I managed to call a friend who was staying at the Hotel Backpackers, and the manager Krishna walked all the way over to pick me up at 2 in the morning to transfer... More

“For a natural alarm request a room on the inside near the pidgeon shute. They will wake you up promptly to get the early morning deals at the local shops. for better wifi (power/electricity permitting) request a room above the main lobby”

“there are three types of rooms. all of them have windows. the rooms with window to the courtyard are little bit noisier because of pigeons planing their family. the best tranquility you find in the rooms with garden window. the best internet connection is provided in the rooms close to the reception.”
