I live nearby and go to this park often. Most recently this past weekend for a group gathering/overnight camp. This park literally has it all! You can fish or boat in either the Ogeechee River or Red Bird Creek. You can hike. You can explore the fort. You can play or picnic in the park. You can car camp or...

I went here as part of our Sherman's March to the Sea staff ride. It's a well preserved earthen fort that was used by the Confederates to defend the Ogeechee River south of Savannah. They have a several cannons and other elements of fortifications from that period on display, and there are reenact or events there as well, unfortunately not...

My wife and stayed here for an extended weekend in October 2015 for a family wedding which was also held on property. There is some much this location has to offer, boating, fishing, kayaking, walking trails, quiet, open pull through spaces and much more. Having staying in many camp grounds and state parks in Florida, I found this location to...

We booked a couple of nights on a whim on our way home from Jekyll Island. I couldn't have been happier with this low key state park. You do have to pay a $5/day fee for any state parks in GA. We signed up on site for a "Friends of Georgia State Parks" family pass ($80) which gave us 2...

We stayed here because we are in the process of fixing up our RV. We checked in around 10:30. It was not crowded at all and there was no check-in time restriction. We can pick our own spot. It was so hot and humid we couldn't wait to take a shower. The bathhouse was clean and well kept. Piping hot...

Sites are pretty open from one to the other but each site (both RV and tent) has water and electricity which is a great bonus for tent sites. A good number of trees though especially for hammock or tarp hanging. Sites are a good size though including an elevated pad area for tents that's easy to place stakes into and...

This is the 3 rd time my husband, myself and our dog Buck have camped here. Each time has been awesome but the last time about a year and a half ago there was an issue with fellow campers being way too loud early into the morning. There was a huge difference this time. There were no noise violations and...

I found this fort very interesting. It's an earth works fort. I have never seen one like this before. The whole fort is under ground. To go into where these men stayed years ago to see how they lived and what they did to maintain amazes me. My teens even thought it was "cool" which is a plus. The view...

We stayed 4 nights in a 30 ft tt. Site 27 was nice and large. View of woods revealed deer one night. We were near the new bath house which closed for a day. The older bath house had nicer showers. Bike/walking trails were fun. Geocaching was abundant. We did 6 in the campground alone-many more to locate. Canoed on...

I think "Not Thrilled" needs glasses. This is an awesome campground! It is on a small island surrounded by marsh and water. Large, quiet sites with a canopy of live oaks. Great marina and restaurant just up the road. Lots of history including the fort and a cool driving trail around the Richmond Hill area. Henry Ford restored this fort...
