I was first skeptical about the place and whether we would be comfortable living there, but we were wrong and taken by awe at the generosity and commitment to make us feel comfortable with our stay by the owners; Jenny, her Husband, her son Vivi and his wife. We stayed there for a total of three days and the rooms and bathrooms were sparkling clean, no bad odors, beds were very comfortable and lined with fresh sheets and blankets! The resort itself has a rustic /old charm like feel with three very cute and kind dogs, pleasant garden with lighting to have your breakfast, evening tea and/or dinner. The dipping pool with is present there is always flowing with fresh river water and dipping in it was a refreshing experience. Being vegeterians we were worried whether we would have enough options for dinner or breakfast but we were proved wrong again! The breakfast consisted of fruits and juices for the season, salad and mains that were filling indeed. We were amazed by the options and dishes provided during dinner, all freshly cooked and well seasoned. I would say that the cuisines used were a mix of Chinese, Peranakan and Malay , and all the dinners were delicious! Their nutmeg juice, durians and fruit freshly picked from their farm during season, and coffee leaf tea are highly recommended along with their dinner! Finally they also provide an affordable tour of balik pulao and Penang city (depending on which tour length you prefer) and take you to great places to eat and visit! I will definitely visit them during the next opportunity (durian season), and recommend their resort stay for all!

If you’re looking to escape from it all this gorgeous forest retreat away from the hustle and bustle is a perfect choice. Relax immediately into the sights, sounds smells and tastes of nature and amazing hospitality from Jenny and her husband, Mr Tan, who have built this idyllic escape on the family’s working fruit farm in rural Penang over the past 15 years from reclaimed materials.
I loved my Malay chalet on stilts over a stream fed from the nearby waterfall, but you can choose from a variety of accommodation from bricks and mortar villas further up the hill or rooms in the main building which also houses the Durian Cafe.
You can explore the surrounding area by bike and really immerse yourself in nature. I’ll definitely be back!

We stayed at Nature Fruit Farm Resort for 3 nights and we just had not enough of it, there were many activities and a very big space for my kids to explore, to burn their energy and to keep them busy. We spent quality family time together around the resort and the village. The homemade breakfast prepared by the resort owner were sumptuous. Would certainly want to pay another visit to the place in the future.

The two young people who have taken it over from his father are very welcoming and very kind - and it is great they try to make a living and provide an experience of this eco-farm. Two important attention points however: 1. It is remote, and although they offer bicycles, if you are not a strong cyclist or want to explore western Penang a bit further, you really need a car. 2. Admitting we were there in a major holiday period in Malaysia when prices go up - we stayed in many other locations in the same period, including some more in nature: the Nature Fruit Farm Resort in our view was vastly overpriced, with at least 40%, for what it offered. It was really heavily overpriced.

Stayed a day for a sudden trip after persuasiveness from my 3 kids. Even though the road was not that good as it is preferred to use SUV or 4WD to drive there. Not too bad bad as I was driving my sedan Passat(I love My Car) but no harm done to my car. Arrived at 6pm and the sudden change of new environment for my kids surprised them. Initially they where a bit worried as the drive into the stay was too deep but after they see the Hill Top villa they were amazed. Tan and Jenny was very friendly host and always willing to help. Jenny is a good cook too and surprised us with her traditional style of food which is Steamed Fish with Cili Padi and Soya sauce was delicious. This dish is not part of the package. Our stay was on top of the hill which I find worth walking up. Scenery was awesome. The Durians here I find it have their own unique taste, especially the smaller size durians. Highly recommend this place for a family who love nature and not forgetting our companion friend for our trekking walk Ben and Jerry. Superb Nature Dog and companion. Jenny's fried Jack Fruit for breakfast was one of a kind.

This family-run fruit farm and homestay offered wonderful accommodations, delicious home-cooked meals, and amazing types of fresh durian, all of which is grown on the farm. Mr.Tan and his wife, Jenny, are welcoming hosts who really know their durian. They offered valuable tips about Penang's durian scene as well as recommendations about the area. They were also very helpful in arranging local taxis for us and explaining how the Grab app (the local Uber app) worked. Our quiet bungalow was up the hill, away from the main communal area, and had beautiful views of the durian trees below. I highly recommend Nature Fruit Farm and will definitely visit again.

There's still many things to look into. Don't ever order their steamboat. For RM900 plus, customers need to start the fire by ourselves. Makan pun tak senang! Then the "lady host" told us that her workers DO NOT know how to start the fire. Hahaha! Service was not really good though. Boleh la. Not convenient. The cafe only sells coffee. Nothing else besides that. And remember, this is Balik Pulau. For you to go out to just get normal food, its gonna be a distance. You guys need to at least sell some normal drinks or tit bits or several types of buns. Not sure about other rooms, but our room was really hot in the afternoon, even we have switched our air cond temperature to the lowest. Apparently, it says switch off once we go out of the room. Which dumb dumb would off when your room aircond is like hotcond?! We actually leave it on then night only it was getting cooler.

My most forgettable experience is Ben, the resort owner senior dog. He was my super hiking guide. He stopped by to greet other resort guest, Introduced me to special attraction spots along the trail such as future available new constructed resort rooms, prolific trees and more. He waited for me patiently to catch up when I was behind, sat down with a warm smiley face which was full of encouragement till I finished the trail. The other junior dog,Jerry guided my family in another hiking trip. Thank you Ben. You are such an awesome guide and intelligent dog.

Note: The resort sells durian to hotel customers, but I think a bit over priced.

It's a very nice resort.
The natural surrounding and the scene is really awesome. The design there is nostalgic. So like u will call back your childhood memories, like staying in grandpa grandma house
The price is affordable.
Hmm... But just a little bit far from city.

Attention expatriates.

After retreating to the Nature Fruit Farm Resort for a week of relaxation and mind-clearing, I decided to move to the farm and make it my residence. After living in Penang for nine years, I ‘fell into’ this farm by sheer luck. And I’ll tell you the brief story of how I ended up here, if I ever get a chance to meet with you at the farm.

In short, I feel as if I wasted nine years of trying to make the condominium lifestyle in Penang suitable for me, and thought during these nine years that removing responsibilities of maintaining property would be a good thing. Well, a better solution for me turned out to be this farm. I get the benefits of a normal and healthy living arrangement without the responsibilities of maintaining a gorgeous-looking property.

I work as a writer for an American corporation, and find that after living at the farm for some time, now, my health and well-being have greatly improved. I've come to realize that I had underestimated the harmful effects of stress and environment pollution upon my health. I’m a 57-years-old male, originally from Boston.

After getting to know me during my week-long stay, Tan and Jenny suggested I consider making the farm my home.

What?!

The “sheer luck” I mentioned was the timing of the plans Tan had made for the farm. In addition to the resort business, Tan had recently decided to extend an invitation to long-term residence, as well. He showed me the locations of future bungalows he has planned for the property, all of which include wonderful views of the backside of the island. But, there are bungalows already available, now.

No kidding, this is true. The plans were just drawn-up by a surveyor. I saw the date of the document. Sometimes, along with bad breaks we all get from time to time, good breaks come by, too. And Jenny sensed a win-win situation for me and the farm. I took them up on their offer to make the farm my home.

I asked Jenny if it’s all right to communicate with others of like-mind about accommodating other long-term residents at the farm. She said, paraphrasing, of course, "As long as they are as suitable as you are, Tan and I would love to meet with them to discuss a long-term stay."

There’s a lot of room at the farm (six or seven hectors, with several beautifully furnished bungalows). Shade from the heat is everywhere. Fruits are everywhere. Birds, butterflies, a lovely landscape and view of the island are all here.

Tan and Jenny know I’m available to help them with relaying my experiences to prospective newcomers to the farm. And I’m glad to do it for such nice people.

Therefore, if you are an expatriate who seeks a dream home away from noisy neighbors, fast-paced living, the craziness of the social decline of the ‘West’, and environmental stresses, come by and talk with Tan and Jenny. They’ll show you around this amazing place.

Tan’s family has owned this gorgeous land for three generations, and has improved the property to accommodate a market of expatriates searching for that ideal place to call home. And I’m the first one to live here, full-time. The best places on the property are now available.

Look…if you’re someone looking for privacy and peace, likes nature and a location suitable for contemplative surroundings, come by and talk with Tan and Jenny. They’ve already furnished the bungalows with high-quality furniture, appliances and everything you need to live a proper lifestyle. And, yes, the farm is connected to the Internet.

Don’t worry, you’ll also be living within a short driving distance to everything you need. And if you’re not aware of the Balik Pulau area, the ‘locals’ are much more friendly and helpful to expatriates than the locals on the east-side of the island. Balik Pulau hasn’t yet ‘gone Hollywood’, if you know what I mean.
