Detailed Reviews
This is a real working durian farm and the owner has decided to add in farm stay options which will give visitors the best experience. Those staying at the farm will get the options of the best durians (we start eating at breakfast!!!) which included numb taste durians that are picked and opened shortly after they dropped. I tasted 3 of these and they were really special and unique!!! Out of all the varieties, I tasted, I like old tree hulu and numb red prawns the best. Those that like very bitter durians will probably love Lin Feng Jiao, while those like good texture will like Green Skin and Black Torns. I also got to pick my own durians!
Have to say the owner is very passionate about durians and he shared his journey of discovery during the farm tour. It's also a lesson in life on how he progressed from selling good durians (using organic methods) to selling experience (farm stay) and now selling flavors.
The farm has a variety of trees ranging to old trees (60 years and older) which produce more flavorful (bitter, xo taste, etc) cultivars to younger trees (30 years old) which produce sweeter ones. These should cater to different taste buds. Those not staying should definitely try to target 11am arrival to have the best durians.
The view is great from the eating area and visitors get to enjoy the sunset while having great durians!
There used to be only two types of accommodation, 2 standard villas with a shared pool and a deluxe villa with a private pool. We booked the deluxe villa on the impression of having some privacy. However, when we arrived, we found the 'private' pool is now shared with 10 other 'tatami' rooms. The website should be updated to reflect this.
In terms of service, I find them rather short handed with the newly tatami rooms (which more than doubled the number of guests and rooms!), so room make-up might be slow.
Despite these hiccups, it's a great experience!!!

It was quite a long drive from Georgetown to the Durian Farm. But the farm on a slope of the hill with a great view. The durians were freshly collected. With great aroma and texture. We were able to sample a collection of 3 durians, from mild to strong and strongest. The strongest durian texture was very smooth but very pungent smell. There was a service staff who can explain the different types of durians that were on offer.
The only down side was the price. We would have thought that since we traveled all the way to the farm that we would have cheaper durians, but it was not so. On the contrary, the durians costs more. But having said that they were of better quality and freshness.

Cheap quality durian selling at a high price, example 1 D15 durian selling for Rm55!!! Furthermore, it taste bland and disgusting. Even worst, one of the worker do not even know what kind of rambutan they were giving out. Such lack of knowledge of what they are selling.

our family of 12 booked online to have durian so called " Buffet" after our arrival we was told to attend the farm tour but nothing special lengthy speech by the male owner
we decided to head for our buffet the moment we sat down the lady owner was served us a big and not ripe durian and went off to other table knowing that our family group too big that she is not willing to open durian for us and we are told not to select any durian except wait for her to serve us. her son offered her to serve our table but she refused his offer unfortunately we was only served with 3 - 5 big lousy durian and collected $700 plus RM$ from us. we felt very annoyed by her way of doing biz
we left with unhappy with this experiences of "durian buffet" and made us travelled an hour or more to reached this farm. time and money wasted! after the durian consumed at the farm, one of our family member felt sick through out for the day

Can get better durians and at better or comparable rates in KL. The dining area at this farm has flies and insects everywhere, and it doesn't look as if the owners made any effort to maintain a clean/hygienic environment. Trying to create a 'back to nature' experience vs a 'back to filth' one are two very different things. Disappointing!

They are only keen in those customers who buy their "package deal" which is expensive. For the group of us who didn't want to take up the package they simply give us some below average and over priced durians. Not going back there ever.

We have been in Fruit Paradise for 5 days.
We stayed at Bao Sheng Durian Farm, because we wanted to experience eating durians and also learning about the trees. We are fruit lovers and travel through Asia looking for different local fruits and places where people are living closer to Nature and Mother Earth.
We booked the best Villa in the small complex at Bao Sheng, build of the edge of the Durian Valey and sorrounded by Nature.
I was taking a bath in the little swimming pool after a durian eating session, in a hot July afternoon, surrounded by durian trees, hearing the birds singing around, watching the sky above, the deep valley bellow, the sea and the island all around and thinking - I AM IN HEAVEN! THIS IS HEAVEN!
All the time we were in tune with Mother Earth energy.
The durians were the best we tasted in our life. We tried many varieties, from trees of different ages, durians that have fallen 1-2-3 or more hours appart, durians from the same variety, but different trees, different hour of falling from tree. Many of the durians were from 60 years old trees, small durians, but very tasty ones. One day, we tried 12 different durians, from different trees and varietys, each one having a differeent taste, flavour and consistency.
The son of the owner played beautifully at the piano - and in one magic morning, we were savouring a fresh durian, while admiring the view of the valley, with the sea in the background and the music around us - we really felt IN HEAVEN!
All other fruits have been free (when paying for a durian level I, II or III package), so we ate a lot of fresh chempedak, mangusteen, rambutan, coconuts, bananas and dragon fruits.
The energy of the family owning this beautiful, organic durian farm - is the energy of Mother Earth itself, calling us back to LIFE!
It's a place recomended for everybody wanting to get in touch with the Energy of Nature, having also the West commodities (such as swimming pool, air conditioned, wi-fi acces)

Me and a group (8 of us) of durian lovers traveled from Singapore to Bao Sheng Durian Farm in Penang which we thought offers great quality durians (from the reviews). The place was crowded and unfortunately there are not many durians left. We asked the owner for the best mao sang wang durians and he brought out the best (according to him) but charges us a bomb. As we traveled all the way there, we were willing to pay for the expensive durians but the worst part is the MSW (that he said are the best) was terrible. There are several other much cheaper and better durians in other plantation. We'd definatey not go back there ever again and would not recommend it.

Very disappointing, durians were almost inedible, totally dry and hard, and yet could still charge rm25/kg for such durian. A total letdown and not really honourable for charging premium price for inedible durians. Even kampong durians taste better than this.

HI there
It's consider quiet far if you do not have a car as you are travelling from town to the other side of the island.
Google map shown appx an hr drive from Sunway to Bao Sheng (appx 30km) and I guess Taxi driver will charge extremely high price as Bao Sheng is located in a rural area with lots of uphill driving... You might want to ring up some taxi company to ask for the price before you go, address : Bao sheng Duran Farm 150 MK 2 Sungai, Balik Pulau, Penang Island 11010, Malaysia. Or search for private car... cheers.
No, there is no direct bus from Georgetown. You have to either take the 101 to Teluk Bahang or the 502 from Georgetown to Balik Pulau, then change buses. The 501 runs between Balik Pulau and Teluk Bahang so you can take it either way past Bao Sheng's. The problem is this bus runs only every 2 hours, so taking a taxi is better.
Durians are only available from May until July or sometimes August. After that there are no durians ripening and this farm does not import from Thailand or other places
"Request for the room closest to the pool. Nice sitting area, and it's farthest away, therefore less traffic/noise."Read full review
